Low quality clothes

"The clothes are poorly made, get random holes in them and shrink. I have to buy 1-2 sizes above my actual size to give room for the item to shrink. I have to hand wash everything I buy here except pants. Customer service in the Lakeland FL store is horrible. Manager was on the phone screaming at her child the entire time I was in the store. When I asked another employee for help she was not pleasant and was no help to me. Unfortunately there aren’t many options for plus size people so I still have to shop here but only as a last resort because I HATE this store!"

Refund Scam

"I ordered a pair of SUNglasses that when they arrived they had clear frames. These are not transition lenses, they were not slightly shaded, they were clear. Who buys clear SUNglasses? The photo even showed that they were shaded lenses. Anyway, I returned the sunglasses that cost me $5.67. I did this on the principal of the matter. When I did my credit card received a charge of $3.28. Here is what customer service told me.."we see that the item you returned was purchased at a price of $5.25 plus $0.42 tax. However, if you use the return label provided with your order, a fee of $8.95 is deducted from the refund for the returned item. Therefore, the difference between the item you returned ($5.67) and the return fee was the $3.28 charge you saw. ". They actually ended up sending me a refund but sent it to the gift card that I had thrown away months ago and they refused to put the money back onto my credit card. I am in the process of filling a complaint for this company charging my credit card without my authorization."

This plus sized girl’s happy place

"I love this store. The two stores, one in OC and the other in Ventura, have the best sales girls. I can fit in clothes again!! These are made for this mom’s changing body. I love the feeling their fabrics. And, the Butter jeans are awesome for my body type. Great, great sales. My wardrobe is changing from everyday Active Wear shirts and leggings, to a happy, put-together Mom who is starting to feel good about herself. "

They do not work with loyal customers

"I tried to return too little shoes outside the 60 day window and was told no. Shame on me for not reading the return policy. What am I supposed to do with too little shoes? One pair wasn't even open. I ask if I could at least be given a store credit and was told no. The sales associate told me to just mail them back and see what happens. She said not to call ahead maybe the shoes will slip by. Seems odd for a sales associate to suggest I be sneaky instead of honoring my return. Especially since the returns scanned at the register. Perhaps I should've taken the shoes back with out a receipt. Now I'm stuck with $80 shoes plus intrest "

Horrendous Customer Service

"I purchased two items which I received today. The boots were sized incorrectly and look like they had been worn. The shirt had a stain on it. What a disappointment. I called Customer Service to advise that I will be returning these items and the rep was going on about taking pictures. I advised her that I had already placed the items in my car and was returning them tomorrow and expected a full refund for the defective merchandise. I then asked for a manager and he advised that the shirt could be returned but that the boots were an outlet item and were not refundable. That if I returned them I would have to pay for an item I no longer had. The manager was rude and had no empathy for my situation whatsoever. I am not paying for an item that is defective. I have filed complaints with the appropriate departments. This is ridiculous. You do not send people faulty merchandise and then expect them to keep said faulty merchandise!!!

The customer service is unpleasant, shows no empathy and rude. This company outsources. Keep jobs here in the USA! I used to love this company. It has gone downhill. It is a disgrace!

Unsatisfied customer

"I ordered some items for an event in which came in after so I went to return the items to the store and was informed they don't do returns if paid through pay pal. I had to request a new shipping label due to mine wasnt printed well. The printer must have been running low on ink. So i called to request a new one which came to me via email and in my email was told i would be charged $8.95. I'm not happy that I'm going to b charged to return my items because they don't refund in the store if paid though pay pal. I think it's ridiculous. I will not b purchasing form this store again. I will just keep my business with Cato."

Daysheer pantyhose

"I feel as if all of a sudden, the avenue is cheating it's customers! I have been purchasing their brand of pantyhose for years and never had any problems until they switched over to this new packaging. The EE sizes no longer fit me even though my size and shape hasn't changed. I have bought black and beige in this size and neither one of them fits the size that they are supposed to. If something isn't done about this, I will be taking my business elsewhere!"

Shady dealings

"I will never shop this store again. I tried to sign up for the assurance program to get a gift card, only to be told that I had signed up for it when I got my card. Which, i most certainly had not. Turns out the sales clerk who signed me up for my card, signed me up for this program without my permission. And nobody at the company seemed to care that something had been done without my permission to my credit card. They refused to do anything about it, so I cancelled my card. I'll never shop there again."

Cheap damaged clothing!!!

"I purchased a coat online and received it 01/09/2018. First off, I have sweatshirts thicker than this, but decided I'd keep it for the not as cold days. It does have a hood so I decided to wear it today since it was raining. I took the tags off and wore to the grocery store. After 30 mins of having it on, I realize the right pocket isnt even sewn on the bottom or side of the pocket! Its a pretty big opening so I will be unable to use that pocket at all!!! Unfortunately if tags are removed or item worn, you can't return. "

Beware of return policy _ SCAM

"Returned 2 gifts with receipts on 12/30/2017. One item was to be an even exchange, just needed a different size. The second was being exchanged for another item that was $4 more.

I was told that the discounted price that my husband paid right before Christmas was not available to me even though I was just exchanging for a different size. I was credit for the pre-Christmas amount, then had to pay full price to get the exact same item in a different size. This is just wrong!!!

I have called the store manager, and she told me that they shouldn't even have taken anything back as the items were now considered clearance. She assured me that my husband would have been told that there was no return or exchange under any circumstances. Believe me, my husband was NOT advised of this LAME policy.

Furthermore, the credit memo has not been transmitted to my bank, however the debit has hit my account immediately. I ended up paying $49 for the sweater that my husband originally paid $26.

You would think that with the number of bricks and mortar stores that going out of business, in favor of on line shopping, the Avenue would not implement such hostile customer policies.

Defaced Clothing

"I recently went to the store in Cherry Hill as it was closing. I picked out merchandise totaling a little under 200 dollars. After paying with my Avenue Charge, the manager said she had to cut the tags off and I watched her start to cut the price tags off. This was not a big deal since it was final sale and I had no intention of returning. Then her and another associate proceeded to cut out the Avenue Tag attached to the clothing. I told them that was upsetting to me and they said there was nothing they could do I told them I did not want the clothing that way and again they said nothing they could do. I already paid and they would not cancel the charge. I spoke to customer service which told me they were only for online purchases and nothing they could do. I tried again and the person I spoke with said to email customer service. I did and they said there was nothing. After I stated that I was closing out my account and giving poor reviews, I was sent another email from someone else saying that they were working on this. I received a call from the district manager of the Cherry Hill store and she said they cut out the tags on the stores closing and they told me that when I went to the store - NOT TRUE. She said she worked for another company before and that was their policy as well. I told her that I did not like my clothes like this and they looked like they were bought at a flea market. I also told her that I could have went to another avenue with a coupon and paid the same to keep the tag. It clearly states on their receipt (although this was final sale) that in order to return the price tag must be on the merchandise - wasn't this sufficient. Clearly she said no. She did offer if I came in with the items and found an exact replacement - she would exchange. This is not possible as there was limited quantity. Needless to say, I closed my Avenue card and will no longer do business with a company that doesn't consider their customers likes nor to not care about how their clothes look."

Worst company ever! Rip off!

"I made a purchase of $126.16 for 8 items. As soon as I got the items I tried them on and needed a different size. In the box was a return exchange paper (no return policies were on this paper). I quickly filled it out and then shipped the package back, without looking online for return policy. A couple weeks later I got an email saying 2 items were non returnable because they were clearance. They charged me 8.96 for sending the items back for "shipping" and I had the option of paying 8.96 to send the items that didnt fit back or they could donate in my name. I chose to send them back and pay another 8.96. I at that point had spoke to a supervisor and was completely livid! I told her to return me the too small items charge me the shipping but to keep the other 6 items and refund me fully for those. I specifically told her I wanted nothing else from their company and was given confirmation the rest of the order was canceled I would not be charged. A couple weeks after I received the non returnable items back I noticed another charge on my card followed with an email 2 more items were being shipped. With another 8.96 shipping fee. I was given the option to return them once I received them with another 8.96 shipping fee applied. I said screw it and kept the items. Well now here again noticed my card was charged with another email 1 more item is being shipped with another shipping fee 8.96. I called again. Same story! I can't get ahold of anyone who makes sense anyone in the United States and no one wants to help! I've now been charged 98.88 total for 5 items 2 of which again don't even fit. The items themselves only costed 67.02! I'm so furious right now. I made my order 10/09/17 it is now 12/07/17 and still can't get a resolution. This can't be right!"

"New .88 cents policy is a rip-off plain & simple. The dress I purchased was not marked final sale or clearance, but was $16.88. The seams fall apart in their clothing. I'm done. No more."

Avenue took no consideration to a Harvey Survivor

"I took advantage or tried to use a birthday coupon sent to me from Avenue. I have a thousand dollar credit limit and enjoy use of my platinum card whenever I want. However, because my September payment was 4 days late due to being displaced from Harvey my on line order was canceled. Granted two payments were received two days apart in September, but still was unacceptable in their eyes. I don't plan on shopping this company ever again all it takes for me is one inconvenience and I'm done."
