"I like the fact that the prices are so much lower than I would get through regular retail, however, they are SO SLOW! Had I known ahead of time that my order was backordered, I would have ordered something else, or at the very least not bothered to pay for 2-day shipping. 2 weeks is just too long to wait when you need something right away. I appreciate that it is difficult to track these things, but it is ESSENTIAL to let customers know that a product is unavailable before they order it. The 2-day shipping is a bit of a joke considering that it has now been 2 weeks and I still don't have my software! "

"HORRIBLE!!!!! They have two student editions and I by mistake ordered the wrong one, the difference in price only about $50 so the price was no big deal. This particular version needed proof from Adobe with a student ID and I am just doing continuing education so,I have no id. Anyway I got a trial version and I need a serial number to activate and since Adobe cannot give that to me, I wanted to exchange the version for the other student version and Academic Superstore will not allow it. So, I have a trial version of software that I cannot use and paid $574 for it. Academic Superstore will not exchange it or let me return it, they are complete crooks. What company will not work with a customer to get them what they need and I would be paying more for the product I want, they are taking my $574 and giving me nothing in return. They are crooks, BEWARE of anyone who does business like this- they are not customer friendly!!! "

"I had ordered some software through their website. I was NOT informed at the time of purchase that the particular item I had ordered was not in stock. According to the status link it was going to go out in "1-7 days", because it was back-ordered. I contacted them several times regarding the status of the item. Each time they could not give any specifics about it other than that it should ship in 1-2 weeks. After waiting two weeks for it to ship I decided to cancel my order. At this point I no longer wanted the item and frankly did not want to conduct any further business with Academic Superstore. They then told me it was already shipped and I couldn't cancel, and that I had to return it. This was all after telling an hour earlier that they had to contact the distributor for details on the arrival of the order. I noticed earlier that day there were no charges on that card. They had actually made an unauthorized charge to my card several hours after I had instructed them to cancel my order.

I don't like the way Academic Superstore conducts business. I have never had a problem with any reputable online retailers. A reputable company will give accurate estimates on shipping time and notify their customers of an item's availability before they purchase it.

I called their office immediately after this and their customer support as always, was terrible. First of all, their representative was very condescending and unhelpful. He acted unprofessionally, and couldn't understand why I wouldn't just accept that they were going to ship it to me, probably because they didn't want to lose the sale.

I will never purchase from Academic Superstore again. They are unreliable, slow, and are truly unsympathetic to the customer's needs. On their website their motto is "It's all about relationships." Clearly this is not the case.

"Worse customer service than Wal-Mart. Don't waste your money! I ordered a product 2nd day air on Feb 6th. It was shipped to the wrong address. I've not received one single call from them, I've had to call in constantly with long waiting periods. Nobody has offered to refund my shipping cost, nobody has offered to refund my money on the product I never received, and nobody has offered to send another. They are a disgrace. I'm going to report them to the better business bureau and I'm about to call my local t.v. station to get after them. 2nd day air, now almost a month later with no product and no follow up on their part."

"This company appears to have very poor communication with their customers, procrastinators and will give you quite the "run-around." They do not seem to be "up front" about their rules of what is a very lengthy ordering process (they need to be more specific about their ordering criteria on their website). Waiting close to an hour (twice) on the phone for customer service over an order, then finding out with the same order I still had more work to do to place it. After waiting 3 days and no response from 3 different emails and even a fax, I called and found out why my order didn't go through, so I made one more silly adjustment to my order (not explained by either the clerk who helped me on the phone, or on the web site).
So I figure, ok, finally I got this order settled last Friday. Well no. Four Days later I check the ordering status of my software only to discover there's a "payment processing hold" placed on my order. I'm thinking what the heck is up with that?! I read on some other review forum they place that as long as 7 business days?!
(No mention of this type of delay on their website).
I'm not in a great hurry to get this software so I am patient but I could already tell after the third day of not hearing back from them that this company is not organized and not much into customer-satisfaction. If I do not receive my software by early next week you can bet my classmates and others in the Digital Arts department of my university be assured they will be discouraged from ordering from this company. Word does get around and we know there are other places one can get discounted software purchased from, more efficiently and more timely.

"I'm not satisfied with an online company that has a 3 day period for electronic downloads. For a company that states that it relies heavily on technology to satisfy their customers, I'm surprised and disappointed. I've purchased electronic downloads from Microsoft and Norton, among others, that sent me the software link with my order information and the license information after my payment cleared all within minutes. That is why I choose electronic downloads at these companies. I've even purchased an electronic copy of Frontpage from a Microsoft product from a reseller and was able to install it within an hour of purchase. If your motivation is customer satisfaction, I recommend spending some resources improving this capability. I did contact customer support by e-mail (no response after a day -- ought to be acknowledged by auto-response and then by real person within an hour) and phone (sat on hold for 20 minutes listening to Jerry Seinfeld standup routines -- should have been told how many people left in front of me)."

"A very bad online experience. Dishonest shipping and tax information given during the checkout process. Long telephone wait to try to get honest information.

Ordered $600 Adobe software on Wednesday with item showing "in stock" and "same day shipping." I'm in CA and they are in TX so no sales tax was indicated during the checkout process when I OK'ed the charge to my card.

On Thursday the online order status indicates item is backordered with a $12.37 charge posted only for shipping (why?). The item description still says "in stock" with "same day shipping." I send an email asking about status and never received a response.

On Friday the online order status indicates "invoiced" but no mention of shipping. Worse still, a sales tax of $43.42 has magically been added to the charges. I call and wait listening to an obnoxious standup comic for many minutes with no indication if anyone will ever answer. Sales rep is very pleasant and understanding (he just works for them) and admits that they have had a recent merger with a CA company so that's why the sales tax has been added. I ask to cancel the order and low and behold he says that it has already been shipped by UPS ground. As I write this, the order status still says "Invoiced" without any indication of shipping. The sales rep says that I can call for an RMA once the order arrives in a week or so and then pay again to ship it back (my treat to pay $25 round trip "ground" shipping on a one pound package) and hope to get a refund issued sometime someday minus any restocking charge. This is no way to run a business and they will never again get my business.

Just wish I had read all the "glowing" reports from all the other ex-customers of this outfit prior to ordering.

"I cancelled my order today after waiting nearly a month for product. Contrary to their written policy, this company charges your card immediately, even when product isn't in stock and they don't intend to ship for weeks. I was charged $1,641 for several pieces of software on Nov 18. It is now Dec 15th and they have still shipped absolutely nothing. I've never dealt with a company that does this. They also do not provide email updates or anything. You have to call/email to find out what is going on with the order. It makes me wonder if they are taking customer money up front to buy the product they don't actually stock??? If they are doing this due to cash flow reasons, it is a very dangerous (and in some cases illegal) business practice. Even Ebay forbids selling item you don't have in stock. I don't mind if you sell it to me, but don't charge my credit card and leave me with nothing to show for it a month later!!! I would recommend to ANYONE to call and make sure the item is in stock and will ship before you place the order. If you notice delays, you'd better check on it ASAP and be prepared to order elsewhere if you actually want your product any time soon. "

" I was supposed to receive a download link for a program that I bought. I was told I would receive it on Friday but I am still waiting. I have called customer service twice and both times they blamed the publisher of the software. If I have to call them again, I will demand a refund."

"Over the years I have ordered several items from Academic. They have always been prompt and attentive. Since I am retired it was necessary to show that I was an emeritus professor. No problem. I emailed the page of the college bulletin that included my years of service. They responded promptly and I was in. I'll be coming back to them again."

"I've ordered from Academic Superstore three times over the past few months -- these were academic versions of Microsoft software. On each occasion, the order was shipped on the same day of placing my order -- I received each item withing two days of ordering.
The academic eligibility process was simple and straightforward -- I received notice of my elgibility within two hours.
I have dealt with their Customer Service once, to inquire when a newly released item would be in stock. They replied promptly via e-mail.
I definitely will order from them again. Their prices consistently beat or match those of other academic software resellers.

"I thought Academic Superstore was a really good deal. As a parent of a high-school student, I was able to buy the name brand software at a substantial discount.

Their website is very easy to navigate, and the product arrived quickly.

I would recommend Academic Superstore to anyone who wants to buy the top software packages, but doesn't want to pay the top price.
