"Aberdeen's website contains the best prodicts and prices I have seen in a while online. Not only are their bare-bones deals superb, but their shipping is highly reliable. I received my package only within a couple of days after my order (live in NJ)and there was no problem. I am surprised to see Aberdeen so poorly judged, so therefore, I highly recommend it to any computer customer. In addition, I not only will order from Aberdeen again, but I will also recommend it to anyone I know, for not only a low price, but a reliable product. Thanks, Aberdeen!!"

"I have ordered from this company in the past. Their prices are a little higher than the norm but they, at times, have some deals that cannot be beaten anywhere else. Their shipping is very slow if you choose the base ground shipping option. Overall they are a reliable, honest company. And you can speak with a customer service rep without waiting on hold forever."

"I ordered a bare-bones system from Aberdeen a few months back. I had one initial problem in that they installed everything I asked for except they put it in the wrong case. They gave me the options of shipping it back and swapping the parts into another case or crediting me the difference between the two cases. I chose the credit. I was afraid the credit might get lost, but it made it on my next credit statement. I've read some of the nightmare scenarios about this vendor and all the hardware failures, and I wonder if they're for real. Maybe it's the "squeeky wheel gets the grease" thing. I thought my bare-bones was very well done (part of the reason I was reluctant to ship it back and have it pulled apart). I've had absolutely no problems with it. I moved over my hard drives, modem, CD-RW, and video card from my old box without a hitch. My last PC was an HP 7270 (made it last 6 years), and I went to a 2.53 gig P4, so maybe I'm just dazzled by the speed. I've read some other people's comments about there being much better vendors (I read them BEFORE I bought the bare-bones, strange they didn't find this site before they purchased from Aberdeen if they're so bad), and I looked at those other sites. I kind of weight an outfit by their website, and these other vendors all seemed to have kind of cheezy sites, so I went with Aberdeen. Anyway, I like Aberdeen OK. Maybe it's a fluke, but my new PC works great. The speed of delivery was OK. The price was good (and just got better I noticed). They have quality brands and they seem to have what I want. I just bought a video card from them, so I'll see how they do on that. "

"GO ELSEWHERE. i ordered a usb pen drive on 11/25/02, and got confirmation email. was charged 95 dollars, and nothing for 2 weeks. emailed them, and got the response that it is out of stock. i was furious. i was charged almost a hundred dollars, and they didnt have it, and absolutely no email. I HAD TO EMAIL THEM. what losers. plus the website had absolutely NO mention of it being out of stock. no curtesy what so ever. another week of waiting for the charge to be refunded. my worst 2nd worst online purchase."

"Ordered a USB memory "pen" from Aberdeen in December. Delivery was a little slow but Aberdeen notes this on their website. When the device did come it was not the one I had ordered. Was told it was a "better" unit. I checked their website and indeed they no longer sold the unit I ordered but instead the new "better" unit, for $5 less. I asked the CSR for a refund of the $5 difference and was told it was a company policy not to do this when a like-substitution is done (???). I got the refund anyway.

My take on the whole process - honestly, go elsewhere. I usually order from either Newegg or Allstarshop, both are highly recommended. Why go with a second or even third rate operation when a number of better alternatives exist. I would give Aberdeen a 2 out of 5 stars.

"Twice I've placed orders for custom systems from Aberdeen. The first was in October 2000. On that occasion the ordering process went smoothly but after waiting for two weeks (10 "working days"), there was no indication on their website's order tracking that the system had been tested or shipped. So I called customer service and was told that the system was about to be shipped and would arrive in a few days. A few days later, still no change to the tracking... I called again and was told the same thing. This continued for two weeks (ie. another 10 "working days"). Finally I called and said I either needed to have the system shipped or cancel the order, at which point they finally connected me with the tech department. It turns out that the video card I had ordered was not working properly and I was asked if I would be willing to swap for a different card at the same price. I replied that would be acceptable and to please try to get the system finished, tested and sent. It arrived a few days later in good condition, but I was still a bit annoyed that it had sat on a bench for two weeks while "customer service" gave me the runaround and false promises of shipping.

That should have been the end of the story, but with the beginning of 2003 I decided to build a new system and give Aberdeen one more chance (I should have read ResellerRatings first... doh!). This time after placing the order online, I called to ask if all the components were in stock and related the problems I had with the last order. I was informed that the video card I ordered was not available and the OS (WinXP) was on backorder but was due to arrive in two days. Okay, no problem, I picked a different video card and called back to update the order. This time I was assured that the card was in stock and if there were any further problems I would be notified. Fast forward one week... no change in status on the website's order tracking so I decided to give them a call. After 30 minutes on hold, I talk to the sales rep and guess what? Three items are now on backorder and the video card is no longer available (discontinued). And just when were they planning to let me know the system couldn't be build (at least not with a video card)? That was the final straw... order cancelled (though it's still on my credit card statement and there has been no credit issued).

I've been reading through the comments here at ResellerRatings and some people have suggested that Aberdeen really isn't that bad... about what you should expect from an online distributor. I have to take issue with those comments, after canceling my order I did some searching and found BCD2000.com. Talk about day and night... read for yourself what BCD2000 customers have to say about that company. BCD can build and burn a custom system in 5 working days, and from what I can see, they often get them out in as little as 3 days. Many parts are shipped the day they are ordered because BCD actually STOCKS most of what they sell. And as for Aberdeen having good prices, well let's compare. As of this writing, a Pentium 4 3.06 processor sells for $946.99 at Aberdeen... it's $699.95 at BCD. Anyone who claims you can't have fast shipping, good customer service and low prices just hasn't done their homework.

Bottomline: Either Aberdeen's sales reps don't know what they are talking about or they are just plain lying to their customers. Their inventory appears to be small, which probably explains why they always seem to be ordering parts and delaying shipments. Timely feedback is nonexistent. Trust me, you can do better than Aberdeen... there is no excuse for their broken promises.

"greetings everybody,
I have decided to leave a piece of mind here today because of the horrible experience I had with this particular company. Wanted to make a complaint but got thown into the endless hoop of being put on hold, so I will make my voice heard here. Aberdeen was recommended by a associate of mine, and my department has been purchasing numerous servers from this company. Not all the servers work, but we could understand being in this field that not all hardwares are fail proof, but what angers me and my associates is the unprofessional attitude which was presented to me when I had tried to reach help.
I called in for Technical Support, I have to admit everyone I had spoke with at Technical Support was friendly and helpful, all but the Technical Support manager Diana Jolin. When I spoke to this unprofessional individual, not only this Technical support manager did not know anything about computers, when I requested for another technician, she had started arguing with me, informing me that "I did not know anything" and just ignoring my request for help, call me silly but isn't that the purpose of "Technical Support" ?. I have never encountered any Technical support department in any company which treated their valued customer this way, very unprofessional and not at all knowledgeable of computer technology, how can you run a Technical support department with such a unprofessional and computer illiterate manager? Well, I just wanted to inform everyone here regarding my experience and hopefully you will not make the same mistake my department did by purchasing anything from this company and we will not continue to purchase with Aberdeen. Very disappointed.

"I'm VERY unhappy with my experience with Aberdeen. I received my computer from them in early August and had little trouble with it until mid-October when I loaded some new software on my machine which would not run. A week of testing revealed that the motherboard had a bad memory socket. I requested a replacement, which was sent to me. After installation, I found that the new board ALSO didn't work, and in fact was worse than the first. I called Aberdeen to straighten this out and have been in a customer service nightmare since. Currently I am trying to get the money back for the cross-shipped part and they are instead sending me ANOTHER board. I highly recommend you avoid this reseller, as their customer service is extremely poor, so that if you have a problem you probably won't get it resolved.

Edit: After dealing with Tracy, who was very difficult and uncooperative, I was contacted by Deanna from Aberdeen's tech support department. It was like night and day, as Deanna was very cooperative and offered to help me in anyway possible. Thanks to her I was able to see some results and I only wish I had involved her sooner. At least one person at Aberdeen is willing to help out the customer, but unfortunately that person doesn't work in customer service.

"We recently purchased a bunch of 1U and 2U rackmount servers from Aberdeen. A couple of the 1U servers started locking up after a couple weeks in service. I was soon on the phone with their tech support dept. and after describing the problem we were issued an RMA number. The servers were shipped back and found to have defective motherboards. New motherboards were ordered and installed and the servers were shipped back to us. More servers started having the same problem, most were replaced and one was shipped back to us after they said they tested it and couldn't find anything wrong with it. The machine died when we were testing it. This did not please my boss since the machines were production servers. Their turn around time for replacements is a bit long as well(1-2 weeks per server) whereas our other Supermicro vendor can have a server replaced in 2 to 3 days. There were other problems with Aberdeen that I won't go into but needless to say our business unit won't be buying any more hardware from Aberdeen. "

"I am very disappointed with my recent experience with Aberdeen. I ordered a motherboard from them, figuring it would take about 10 days to get the product; after all, it states on their website that part orders leave their warehouse on average of 3-5 business days. Well, how about 12 days (10 business days) before my product ever shipped, and another 8 days enroute (shipping). I can not understand why it takes 12 days to ship a product that their website claims is IN STOCK. I made another, very large order with one of Aberdeen's California-based competitors (newegg.com) on the same day, and my products (all 12 of them) where enroute by 2pm the very next day (and were only in shipping 5 days with FedEx). Now that is the kind of service that I expect!

Email correspondence took about two days and was cordial, but they never explained why it was taking so long to ship my motherboard.

I needed to get this motherboard right away, so I tried to phone Aberdeen to get them to change my shipping to Next Day Air. I tried calling three times and got disconnected each time after waiting 20+ minutes to speak to someone.

Aberdeen may be highly rated in many people's opinion, but they seriously "dropped the ball" on my purchase with them, and they will not receive my business in the future.

"First of all, before I had decided to go with Aberdeen, I did a lot of research on my dream gamer's rig. I called in Aberdeen's technical support line and their technicians are absolutly wonderful, got through to the technical support waiting no more then 2 minutes and got every information I needed to decide to purchase with Aberdeen. Not only the technical supports are the most patient I had ever spoke with, very knowleadgable, guided me through the gaming machine's performance specifications, and recommanded me with my now favorite video card, the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. I've had no problem at all with my new machine and everytime I call in for support, whether it is email or phone call, I've always got the information I needed. I highly recommend Aberdeen with all of my co workers at EA Games. Will be my only choice for hardware source. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!"

"Purchased several systems through out the year, Aberdeen is my source of information and grade A products. I highly recommand Aberdeen to all of my friends and families. I started off as a New Egg customer but conclusion ended up being Aberdeen as my favorite. I had couple of system that was DOA but the Technical Support was more then helpful. At time the holding period could be fairly long but the Tech Support Department was more then helpful with all of my questions and problems, that goes for problems that is not even related to the products I purchased from them. Final comment, great company, my reliable source for help and products."
