Non-delivery of orders, no customer service

"I placed order and was fully charged. I received 3 of 15 items in about a week. The online system made it appear that the rest being prepared or on its way. After a month, nothing else has been delivered with NO change to the online order status (still appears as either in transit or being prepared).

The support line won't connect calls to an agent. The online site only allows emails for cancellations. I tried the cancellation route to simply get a message to them. After 2 more weeks I got a reply from 3rd party support company. They asked for the very same information that was already in the reply email (order number and my request). I replied politely giving again the order number and request. No reply.

This is not a covid issue. IKEA seems to have a broken system for successfully processing orders and definitely is broken as it relates to providing customer service.

I have now disputed via credit card company. This is a shame. I thought that a modern company like IKEA would have their act together. They do not.

My suggestion: Do not do ecommerce orders with IKEA.

Zero customer support for Online store; Support system non-existent

"I'm posting this on this website since the BBB is scammy and downright useless. Ikea.com has a 99% disapproval rating from 1000+ consumers, and yet BBB gave them an A+ rating. Makes no sense.

Ikea.com has no customer support. Once you make an order, it's nearly impossible to cancel or change that order. If anything goes wrong during delivery, it's near impossible to get that fixed without weeks of trying to reach support.

I had been trying to reach their Customer support for days to change my order. They do NOT respond to anything. I couldn't reach them by phone, email, website, chat, Twitter, or FB. Many other people online have been reporting the same issues for months.

Their online order cancellation page claims they claim respond within 48-72 hours. That's a lie. It goes into a black hole. It's been a month, and I still haven't heard back from customer support. A week later, they finally sent me a cancellation for my order. In comparison, Amazon usually takes 5-30 minutes to cancel my order instead of 100+ hours.

They actually do have an option to change their delivery time on their phone system: Call ***-***-**** -> (Opt 3) Delivery -> (Opt 2) Reschedule delivery -> (Opt 2) Online Order. However, all you get is a recording suggesting to call back at during their business hours (which is exactly when I'm calling them), and then nothing happens. No further audio is heard.

Hundreds of users online have been reporting the same issues for weeks. Correction: thousands have been complaining for months.

After some 30+ calls, I eventually reached a call back their tech support (not their customer support), admitting that they were aware that their system has been non-responsive for months, but that they don't have the resources to fix it anytime soon.

Poor Shipping Service

"Terrible experience. I will never placed any order to be delivered on IKEA. I placed an order at Ikea Woodbridge, VA, USA, and stay at home 5 days for it. Ikea keep breaking the appointments, and they broke the appointment 4 times in total so far. Here is the story. I ordered some furnitures in two separate orders including a $628 sofa sections order. The first order was delivered on July 27th, Friday, and the second order, the $628 sofa order, was supposed to be delivered at the same day, but it was not. I call Customer support several times and every time the wait time was about 30 mins. In the end, the customer support told me that the item showed as delivered in the system and there is nothing they can do on the phone. One July 28th, Saturday, I have to drive 40 mins to the store to talk to the manager in person. The manager told me that it was a shipping error so he placed a new order for me. The new order should be delivered on July 29th, Sunday, so I was waiting at home; However, the order was not delivered either. I checked the status and the order has not be processed to the shipping company. I tried to call Ikea customer support several time, finally they contacted the store manager. The manager called me back and told me that the order has not been processed. He has to reschedule the delivery for me on Jul 30th, Monday, which is today. I quite my job and stay at home today; However, I checked the status this morning, and it still shows not processed. So I call the customer support. They contact the store manager and told me that the order has not been processed. They have to reschedule it to Friday, which is Aug 3rd. I felt fooled. I quite my job on last Friday and this Monday, and I am going to do this on Friday again. During the pass weekend, I spend one day driving to the store to talk with the store manager, and the other days staying at home for the order. I have wasted too much time and effort on this. (Order was placed under the name Ms. Li)"

Never had a problem - All the items have been great quality for the price

"I've bought several items from Ikea and yet to have had an issue. Glass cabinet, book case, solid wood desk, and now an office chair. The quality and warranties are amazing, the prices are also really good and the stuff is easy to put together and doesn't seem like cheap junk at all. I would recommend them to anyone."
