"I was searching for a trayless FireWire enclosure for SATA hard drives, and I turned first to Amazon.com. I found an iStarUSA model, and wrote the seller to ask if it was any good and if they sold a 4-bay one. The seller, GoHardDrive, wrote back a few hours later with "For the Firewire interface, we only have 2-Bay that's is the one you saw, the Mac version. Unfortunately, no vendor or manufacturer are making 4-Bay with Firewire interface. The 2-Bay is Mac version is great performance and I sell to many Mac customers and they have great feedback on this."

I then went direct to their website and found they sold this drive for $15 less than the Amazon price, so I placed my order on January 1st. By the 6th, it still hadn't shipped and I noticed the inventory page now showed out of stock, so I wrote and they let me know "We are so sorry to let you know that the product that you had ordered is currently out of stock. We are unable to find any substitution for your order. We will cancel your order at this moment."

When I wrote to ask about other versions of the box, they answered again within a few hours. I decided I would try the $85 non-FireWire (USB) version of the box, but wanted to ask them if it was really in stock. I wrote to ask, and they answered a few hours later, confirming the price and shipping to my zip code.

The next day, I wrote to ask how long it would take to show the refund, and they said "It will takes 5-7 business day to have the payment showing on your statement." I was a bit uneasy, but decided to order the other drive instead, so I placed my second order attempt.

On January 7th, I placed the order then waited, About five days later, it still showed "Processing" (but at least I did see my refund was credited, and it showed the credit on the same day I placed the original order.) I was about to be annoyed, but I checked the very next day and suddenly my item listed as "Shipped" and when I clicked on it, it showed tracking information and I found that it was BEING DELIVERED THAT DAY! Cool.

So, basically, they shipped the day I placed the order, but the status screen wasn't updated then. The only thing I can ding them for is that the original order took five days before I found out it was cancelled -- and that was after I wrote. Maybe they were trying to get inventory, and would have let me know the same day anyway.

So, overall, they had great prices (lowest price for these two enclosures I'd found), and shipped immediately, and answered e-mails within a few hours.

I plan to buy a few more of these $85 cases from them in the coming months. I may not trust these guys as much as NewEgg, but they have them beat on the same enclosure by about $40 so...

"be warned, goharddrive.com is the old eaglebit.com
they are the same people and its even the same website theme just a different color format.
Their customer service if you have had to deal with them when they were eaglebit, is the same.

this isnt my first order with goharddrive.com but i believe its my last.

this order was placed and did not ship for a week, yet both items i ordered were said to be in stock.

i ordered it on a friday and the following tuesday i asked for my tracking number as the website had not updated to show it yet under my order details.

i asked for my shipping cost to be refunded as it had not shipped for 3 days, the person gave me a tracking number and said it shipped monday.

what the person did not realize is that i am no idiot, i checked the tracking and the only thing it reflected was that on Monday a shipping label was created.
so, not only was the package not shipped when he said it was, he didnt even create a shipping label or package it until i emailed them asking where my order was.

i emailed them back and explained this and got NO REPLY, this is typical fashion for this group of sheisters who run this company.

move forward to the following friday, 1 WEEK after i ordered the item(s). the tracking number FINALLY shows that the package had shipped, on friday. the tracking clearly showed that the package did not ship until friday. not monday.

so, not only did the package not ship on monday, it didn't ship until friday.
granted Thanksgiving was thursday so i give them that 1 day. but they LIED to me about the package shipping.

be warned, be very leary of this company, they are using the same tactics they did as eaglebit, that gave them a crappy reputation, and now they havent learned a damn thing and are doing it again.
