"Saturday-they replaces a tube. Got up Sunday morning for a planned ride with 17 others. Tire was flat. Had to ride a buddies backup bike. Went in on Monday to have tube replaced. The it took the tire/rim to the back and I followed. I stood outside the repair room as the guy began breaking down the tire from the rim. The guy looks up and notices me standing outside the room. He walks over and shuts the door so I could. It see him working. I left the store to run errands. About 30 minutes later he called and said, “Mr. Hall, I found your problem. I replaced your tube and it failed as well because you have small nail in your tire. The tire needs to be replaced and I’ll have to put another tube and you’ll have to pay for the tube.” I explained, I’ve been riding bikes for 50 years and the tire did not need replacing. I further explained when I brought the tire in on Sat they should have broken the tire down and inspected the inside of the tire prior to replacing the tube instead of just replacing the tube. The guy eventually back down and said he would replace tube for free. When I arrived to pickup my tire/rim he went on to say there was not a small nail in the tire but something wooden (probably a thorn). I shared my experience with the 17 guys I rode with on Sunday. Two of the guys were former employees of Cycle Gear, one of which was a former store manager in Florida. Both employees were not surprised by my experience. The former Manager said he felt his job was in danger daily because of profits. I understand business and profits but to try and convince a customer he needs a new tire and have him pay for a tube he had already purchased is unethical. If I was an inexperienced cyclists I would have probably bought a new tire. Bottom line: I’ll never step foot back in Cycle Gear again for anything tire related. Best if luck guys. "
