"I've been using Computergate to buy total computer configurations when I build computers. I find their variety of PC parts pretty complete and easy to shop.

Sometimes their freight charges are expensive since I live on the east coast and the shipment comes from the west coast.

Their customer service has been easy to deal with whenever I've had to call them.

"I always enjoy purchasing from Computer Gate. Don't come to browse though, they don't show images when listing items and browsing becomes a very boring activity.
If you know what you want it's a good stop. The prices are always reasonable, and their package deals are great.
Watch out for the somewhat hidden $2ish handleing fee.

"I have been purchasing items from ComputerGate for several years now. That should tell you that I really like this company.

They have some of the most God awful hard to find stuff on the net. Prices are very good and service is pretty good also.

I have read about what some of you think about their 30 day waranty, but if you would pay attention you would see that you can extend that warranty if you want to. In addition, the majority of their products, if not all, have some sort of manufacture's warranty so there should not be a problem.

Yes, I have gotten hold of a couple things that didn't work correctly, but they have replaced these things promptly. And there was a mis-communication one time about shipping charges, but the excess amount was refunded promptly once they saw that it was their error.

All in all, I would give this company two thumbs up with the only downside being their handling fee. But with the great prices they have, I can live with that. :-)

"This company has a ridiculous return policy. They misadvertised a product and because I did not find this out until one day after the 30-day return period (from their order date, not my receipt of the box) they refused to issue an RMA despite the fact that the items were both defective and had incorrect specs on their product description. I have bought hundreds of dollars of merchandise over the years and they gave no consideration at all for their mistakes and bad product. I am very disappointed. Buy from Computer Geeks or newegg.com or someone who wants to keep their customers happy."

"Computergate has been one of my main suppliers of computer parts and cables for several years. They seem to have a great selection of items that aren't avaiable elsewhere with good prices and service. Most recently I was looking for an external HD enclosure and found one on Wed. The next Monday I had it configured and running. Will hope they maintain their high standards so I can use them in the future."

"Amazing service !!! Hard to find cables and misc stuff! .. I bought an order of miscellaneous items. The original order arrived 4 days after the online order was placed even though I opted for Ground ship. I usually wait until I need a few things because most of their items are so inexpensive and I hate to have pay shipping on a small order. Within my order was a CPU cooler that cost about $9. When I opened the box for the CPU cooler, I noticed that the item was actually the lower cost and lower performing model. I emailed customer service and informed them and they responded the next day with an RMA number and asked I could drop off at the shipper (FEDEX or UPS) if they included a shipping sticker!!! When I said yes, they shipped the correct item that day! When the corrected item came I found a return prepaid label in the box. I simple slapped the sticker on a box and placed in the local drop box!! .. Amazing service for a $9 part!!!"

"I have ordered from Computergate many times but they seem to be slipping. I placed an order June 27, my credit card was charged but they failed to inform me that the item was not in stock. Had I known they did not have the product I would have gone elsewhere as I need the item ASAP. It finally shipped on 30 June and as a result of the Holiday will not be in my hands until the 6th of July, a total of 9 days. This is not good business. By not informing me the product was not available when I placed the order and by charging my card anyway, I won't have the product in a timely manner. I will have second thoughts about ordering from them again. "

"I ordered a complete computer composed of parts. Everything came a day early by UPS and to my disgust UPS lost the case. My call to ComputerGate did no good being the weekend before Christmas. UPS was not delivering unitl the following Monday. My call to customer service was pleasant. The person said I would have one resent. UPS lost that one too. Another call and the case arrived 2 days later."

"Ordered a DVD+R along with some other parts. Other parts arrive and I find that the DVD+R has been backordered. Call in to cancel that backorder (I never authorize backorders and state law requires notification of and acceptance of backorders). Two days later the drive arrives. I call in for an RMA. It takes a week to get one and I ship the drive back at my expense. It takes another MONTH to get the credit posted and it only happens after I tell them I'm going to turn it over to the CC company for resolution. They did not credit me shipping in either diretion, even though it was their error.

I had been a customer for years and I will think a dozen times before buying anything from them again.

"First, I have ordered from this company for several years and always been satisfied until this last and final order.

I ordered a PC100 256MB DIMM and received a PC100 32MB DIMM. The computer I was going to put this DIMM in contained 2-64MB strips and the 256MB was going to fill the final slot. Imagine my surprise when I inserted the DIMM and came up short!! They have the gall to accuse me of trying to switch the DIMM because they claim they could not have sent the one they did because it does not have their bar code sticker on it. I emailed them the information on every sticker this DIMM has on it.
A few years ago, they sent me expensive cables that I had not ordered, nor had I been charged for. I contacted this company to send them back because I am an honest person. Now I find that I am being "screwed".

Oh well, live and learn. Fortunately, I am only out $38.00, but they won't have a chance at me again.

"First off, let me start by saying that computergate does have a good selection of hard to find items at competitive prices. They were one of the few places to have the Seasonic 300W Super Silencer power supply in stock and I immediately purchased it from them and was very satisfied.

Now, to the ugly side of computergate: Customer Support. It's extrmely incompetent based on my experience.

Around the same time I bought the power supply from them, computergate's website listed that the Radeon 9500 Pro video card was in stock. This was surprising because I knew the 9500 Pro line was being gradually phased out in favor of the 9600 Pro series. I prompty placed my order for the 9500 Pro ($157.95 + Shipping). Two days later, somebody from Computergate leaves a message on my phone informing me that there was a 'shortage on the Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500' (exact verbage) and that they're offering me an "upgrade" to the Saphire ATI Radeon 9600 for free. (Note the lack of mention of 'Pro' in the product name which made things more confussing). I call back a few days later to inquire. I make no mention of the 9500->9600 swap deal but simply ask about the status of my order. She tells me that it's out of stock but that they expect to have it in stock within 2-3 days. I say "Great, then don't change my order.. and let me know when it ships". She says "Sure we'll call you AND email you when it does!". They never did.

A few days later, the online order status page shows that my order has shipped and lists a UPS tracking #. The # does not work. I fire off an email to sales to see what's going on. No reply to this day. A few days pass, and I finally receive a package from FEDEX!
I open it up, and lo and behold, it's a Radeon 9600 PRO! It's not a bad deal for the price, and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning the card and begging for a refund. But my overall experience was negative, and customer service did far from a professional job. The onus is on them to get it right, not me.

I will not buy from computergate again.

Update:
Now that I think about it, computergate was advertizing their Sapphire Radeon 9600Pro as retail but the box I got was missing the manual and the DVI-VGA dongle. My advise is to steer clear of this company.
