HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE & RETURN POLICY - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

"I am by no means an electrician but am extremely knowledgeable with doing construction projects around the house. I had just finished tiling my kitchen as well as replacing all the appliances over to stainless steel. The old brass outlet cover plate (for the kitchen floor outlet) was not going to match the new appliances so I started researching plates that looked very similar to the one I had as it was quite unique with a screw top that had to be removed to access the plug. I came across Capital Electrical Supply's product, which looked exactly like the one I was trying to replace. Fast forward to me getting the item in January and it turns out the distance between the two screw holes was ever so slightly larger than the brass plate I already had. It is now April and I have spent the last 3 months trying to find an electrical outlet box that will be compatible with this new cover. I have gone to Lowe's, Home Depot, Menard's, and even small family owned stores to locate a compatible outlet box and have found nothing. Additionally, I even went on Capital Electrics' website to find a box that would work but they only sell the box and cover plate together (at a must higher price as well).

I finally got tired of looking for something that would work with this new plate and emailed Capital Electric (this past Sunday) asking them if I could simply return my item as it would not work with anything I have come across in any store and even their very own website. The response I received via email read, "This request on April 16th has exceeded beyond our 15 day Return Policy." I should first mention that my order was placed on 12/24/2016 and I did not receive my item until 1/16/2017. It took 25 DAYS to get my item in the mail but yet they only allow 15 days to return something!!?? That brings me to my next point; I was charged $14.12 for shipping. Let me remind you that this was a very small and light weight outlet cover. They are located in California and I am in Missouri. Why in the world was I being charged $14.12 for a small/lightweight item that took 25 days to get to its destination!!?? I could understand that price if it was shipped overnight and/or 2-day shipping but their shipping price is a major red flag!

As of yesterday, I called and talked to "George" about this issue and explained everything. This person was extremely rude and had unprofessional responses. His first response when I just finished explaining the entire situation was, "It has been three months since you received it, why are you just now asking to return?" I was almost speechless as I just explained to him I have been searching every store in my area the past 3 months trying to find a compatible outlet box. Additionally, I explained that his very own website did not sell this outlet box (w/o the outlet cover). George responded, "Why didn't you hire an electrician to make sure you find the right product?" I informed George that it was not a wise economical decision to hire an electrician at $85/hour (typically with a minimum charge of 2-3 hours) when an outlet cover only costs $40-$50. Furthermore, this is an outlet cover of all things and an electrician should not be needed. I further explained that in my 26 years of life, I have never come across a return period of only 15 days. It was at this point that I asked him if he believes it is good customer service to tell someone they only have 15 days to return an item knowing that it took them 25 days to get this item shipped to my house! George responded, "Our website states the return policy and we cannot authorize this return because our suppliers/vendors will not accept the return." I informed him that his vendor's requirements should not determine if they would accept their return because he can turn around and sell this to someone the very next day. After all, they sell electrical supplies every day of the year and have people interested in these items. George responded, "Well you can just as well hold onto the items for the next time you move into a new house and possibly use it their."

As you can see from the exchange of words, this company is extremely unprofessional and does not sincerely care about their customers. All the seem to worry about is their profits and how to screw the customer in the event that their products will not work. Again, AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

Horrable Service

"I placed a simple order for two gray rocker light switches on 04/26/16. On 05/13/16 I hadn't received the order so I call the main number. I got someone that told me that the order shipped and that shipping would send me a tracking number...nothing was sent. On Monday 05/16/16 I called again...no one can tell me when the order shipped but they insist the order was shipped...this time George will send me a tracking number via email. This company is a pain to work with. They are happy to take your order and your money but when you call them to find out information they are rude on the phone and they never send you the information. I will NEVER use the company again and I would warn others to stay away. There are plenty of other supply companies other there."

"HORRIBLE! they list items they DO NOT HAVE. they take your money as well! Its poor business to have items listed in stock and able to be purchased, take peoples money then dont ship the item. "
