"Was charged extra for lens cap included in the box! Was persuaded to buy accessories and quoted as a "package" supposedly good deal... turned out they sent me the cheapest,low quality, unheard of brand of accessory items for the lens. I cld have saved at least $75 for the package I paid for $533.99 had I bought it at a local store. Was told I can return some items with no re-stocking fee if I wanted to when placing the order,when I received the order and not satisfied with accessories I was told I will have to return all items(as Package!!!) and will be charged 20% re-stocking fee.Person I placed my order with lied to me,never returned my call and other people there were rude. Please buy somewhere else...low advertised price will end up charging you extra for items included already in the package/box when buying elsewhere!"

"I tried to order a camera as a typical internet sale. A&M Photo wouldn't process the order until I called to verify. At this point, you're put on the line with a guy talking at a speed like he's getting charged $100/min for phone time. They tell you that the camera you are buying doesn't have a manufacturer's warranty and you must pay $20 more in price. Then they try and sell you peripheral camera items at exorbitant prices. When you're done, he hangs up and it's not until you get your invoice (which is not itemized, only a final cost)in the shipping box that there $20 more in charges than you agreed to. They also left 2 of 3 items out of the free sales promotional tripod, lens cleaning kit, and LCD protector.

You call them and after significant arguing, they offer half of the difference which is about what it would cost to send the merchandise back.

The FTC should know about these guys. I didn't send the camera back, but I will never again buy anything from A&M Photo World and you shouldn't either.

From the call, they promised to send the tripod and LCD cover. About 6 days later, I recieved another lens cleaning kit that must have cost them no more than $0.50. Buy at your own risk. They're devious, will deceive you, and every time you use the product, you think about those jerks.

"FRAUD ALL THE WAY !!!! RUDE UNHELPFUL AND A RIPOFF ARTIST. I am reporting this merchant because my total was 279.00 then when we spoke to confirm the order he said 69.95 for a battery for a camera,then I said no and he charged me anyway plus 20.00 for shipping which was 11.99
my total from 279.00 plus 11.99 for shipping became 339.99 A BUNCH OF CRAP !! I TOLD HIM CANCEL ORDER !!! He wouldnt !!! didnt authorize
those charges..REPORTING NOW AND WILL GET ALL MY MONEY BACK !!!! Cancelled my card with my credit company and reported him to them as fraud. Then all of a sudden I received an email they cancelled my order. Good thing because I taped our conversation. Still reporting them because the charges went through. I will wait to see if they refund me like they say they are going to within 72 hours..HA HAHA HA like I am a fool to believe they are going to refund my card back. I am not taking any chances.. DONT BUY FROM THEM YOU WILL BE SOOO SORRY..

"DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE EVER!!!!
WORST PLACE TO BUY!! Site said available now, when I ordered, they told me to call a csr to confirm order. When I called, they told me it would be 2-4 weeks for delivery of my order, Also stated the "US version" is availble to ship now but costs $10 more. I asked the difference, and he said the only difference is a charger and a battery. ???? He claims the one I ordered doesn't come with a charger and a battery. So whatever, I order, but on my cc statement, He charged me an extra $10 plus double shipping fee. NOT TO MENTION, THE CSR ARE THE RUDEST EVER!! I wish I had the power to shut this store down for the way they do business, it should be illegal the way they run there business. BUYERS BEWARE, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!

"BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN ORDERING FROM AM PHOTOWOLRD! After eight attempts to get my order resolved and waiting to get my order fulfilled, I am returning my order and taking a loss on the shipping. The orginal salesperson guaranteed that the accessories that I had ordered were in stock and would ship with the camera. This was not the case. When questioned about when these missing items were shipped, I was given seven different dates and still have not received them. When I called for a return number, the customer service person was extremely rude and would not take my call, instead, he stated "I am NOTt answering your questions..." and proceeded to hangup the phone. I was not only lied about the items that I had ordered, but they tried to say that the items that I purchased were a US model and therefore needed to charge more eventhough the original salesperson stated otherwise. I will be contacting New York Internet Bureau Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and the cosumer protection agency if A&M PhotoWorld does not resolve this issue. I will include the list of complaints, their alias, and their fraudulant business practices (ie bait and switch). I have already filed a formal dispute with my credit card company who will investigate the matter with their bank. I understand that sometimes issues arise with supplies and shipping and feel that I have given AM Photoworld more than enough chances and time to make good on their promise, but when they refuse to correct the situation and blames the consumer than they have crossed the line. They will never receive business from me or my friends again. "

"DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE!!! IT IS A CLEAR AND WELL ORCHESTRATED SCAM. I ordered a sanyo vpc c5 for what seemed like an unbeatable price. first they called me and tried to get me to buy extras. i regretfully agreed to a "2-hour" battery in lieu of the "25-minute" "starter battery" (quoting the salesman) that's standard. my order arrived with an invoice with a price $90 higher than the price quoted online and without the "2-hour" battery (it came with the standard battery which lasts in reality ~1hr). when i called to complain, the extremely rude customer service rep first tried to tell me that i'd purchased a warranty, then delivered some canned, rehearsed speech about "US" and "non-US" versions of the item. He then directed me to an obscure portion of the website which he claimed explained the whole thing (which, on further examination, it certainly did not). When i hung up in a way that the rep considered less-than-polite, he had the nerve to CALL ME BACK and scold me in a very menacing and threatening way for my lack of manners, obviously trying to pick a fight... and this is a CUSTOMER SERVICE rep.

and the "free gift" with a value of $89.85? Absolutely absurd. maybe $5.

"They has really low price for Panasonic PV-GS 150. They try to make you call back for the order confirmation. When called back,the camocord is out of stock they allure to buy US version, much high price. The customor sevice is really rude and impatient. If you place the order on hold for the back order, it never come. Be careful."

"I purchased a Canon Powershot SD500 from A&M Photo World, on the company’s website.
I had several problems with this company:
First, the ordering process; instead of processing my order completely online, I was directed to call their customer support number. Then the dollar amount charged to my credit card was different than what was negotiated over the phone between me and the customer service representative.
Next, the package that I received on May 11, 2005 did not include some of the items that I had purchased.
For example two (2) batteries were to be included in the package for the previously agreed upon price; however I only received one battery.
Finally when I called the customer service department
to discuss these issues one of the company representatives told me “…lady, you should shut your mouth first”. Needless to say, I was completely shocked.

Wanted to return the camera, I had to get a return authorized number, they said that they will refund $378.59 which I paid $475.94. They wanted me to sign a paper first saying that I am OK with that, which is not in their Return policy. They didn't give me a number, now I am stuck with them.

A&M Photo World is most certainly one of the worst businesses I have ever dealt with.

"A&M Photo World are scam artistsand liars of the first order! They use bait and switch practices and fast talk to try to scam you. And if you catch on and try to cancel, they try to lie and intimidate you into paying anyway. I tried to purchase a Canon 20D (body only) and a Canon ef-s 17-85mm lens w/ image stabilization etc... I made my purchase online. About an hour later I get a call from one of their sales reps and he questions me on why I didn't buy a battery with my camera. He gave me some bs story that body only cameras dont come with batts. He then fast talked me into switching my lens to a Sigma 18-125mm lens thats "just like the Canon with Image stabilization and all the same features just a wider range than the Canon lens." He said this lens costs $700 and but he will sell it for $600, the price of the Canon lens. He then runs a sells pitch for filters, flash memory cards, and warranties that I dont want but he promises to sell them for half off and in the case of a uv lens he'll give it to me for free. This is where they are slick, he then records me on tape saying I want all of these items but doesn mention prices or the fact that some are free and half off and my total now balloons up to $2313 and he hangs up. He charged me for the full price on everything. Shocked I call them back only to be trapped in a maze of voicemails and foul attitude-having operators. While on hold I discover this so-called new lens he's selling me costs $205 on their own website and doesn have any of the features he told me about. This same guy gets on the phone as Paul this time( he was under another name previously) and says that the lens is brand new and not on the website yet. I do more homework and call Sigma Direct and they never made or plan to make a 18-125mm lens with IS and the other features. The closest lens they have is that same $200 lens. Furious about being lied to I call back a 3rd time to cancel and reach Paul who tells me that I'm not getting a refund because the shippment has been scanned, thus when I get the items I will be forced to return them with a 15% restocking fee coming to about $250. We argue back and forth for a good while and he refuses to cancel, and says sarcastically " yes, we scam people all the time" after I call him a con artist. He tells me I only have 2 options to send everything back and pay for the restocking fee or I could take a deal where he would switch back the Canon lens with the Sigma. So I ask since he can switch the lenses then my package hasnt been shipped thus he can cancel my order and he refused. Figuring that this was going to get litigious I asked him to email me an invoice of my order to have some record of what I was supposed to be getting. He sent some vague handwritten garbage listing my items without prices. The next day I got a phone call saying that my check card didnt allow the transaction because it was luckily over my limit and I told them to again to cancel. A week later;today I get another phone call with them attempting the transaction again. Again I get in contact with this Paul person who claims to be the manager and owner and he refuses to cancel again. I then call my bank to cancel my card to prevent them from charging the restocking fee because they say that my order is in UPS's warehouse waiting for them to ok the shipment and if I cancell Id be subject to pay them $250. This Paul person again says hes going to get money one way or another. I could pay the restocking fee or accept his generous offer selling me the body only for $1400 when they offer it on their site for $1100. Needless to say these are some unscrupolous people and their whole operation is set up to scam people. Ive left out some details to be brief as possible but my advice to all that will listen: Avoid these Con Artists at all costs! "

"i purchased a canon ef-s 10-22mm lense for my d20, for $639. i wondered how they can be so much cheaper than Amazon, which was $799. Well, I found out the next day, because they sent me an email saying that i should call and confirm my order, to "help expedite it." When i called, they had me confirm my billing address, and then tried to sell me some filters for $200, which i declined. then they ask if i wanted the US version of the lens, or the International version. The price I paid, $639, was for the "International version", which did not come with a lense cap or cover, and did not have the full waranty. If i wanted the "US version, I would be charged, $729!!! What a rip off joint! too bad I found this out before reading all the other negative reviews about their company. Stay away from these scammers! I'm going to write a complaint to Cannon as well, and see why they would sell their product to such a dishonest scammer. "

"I tried to buy from A&M several times, but they invented the most ridiculous prices for adding manuals, cables, batteries or even lens cover. They are no serious. Never bought anything from them, and will never try again. In photography forums I got to know RessellerRatting, and fortunately A&M is very bad rated. It is unanimous that this is not a place to go. "SCAM DON'T BUY FROM THEM!!!
I ordered camcorder Panasonic GS400 fom them on April 4.(item was in-stock) Next day they called me to offer some accessories, like battery, cleaning kit, etc. I said that Camcorder comes with battery, they answered that this is only 10 min. battery.I refused to buy anything extra so they told me 3-4 weeks waiting time and hang up on me.
During the waiting time I frequently was checking their website and never found any note that item is out of stock.
After 4 weeks I called again and asked what is going on with my order. Answer was: 3-4 WEEKS MORE!!! so I canceled it.

"SCAMMERS! STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Ordered a Sony Camcorder from them and received an email for me to contact them to verify order. Spoke with Paul (ext. 773)and was told by him that I would have to purchase a battery & charger for an additional $70.00. He said the camcorder did not come with them. This will be my 4th camcorder in the last 20 years and also have done extensive research into purchasing them. I have not to date came accross any camcorders sold without charger & battery. I have never dealt with any outfit like them before and this is for all you out there to STAY AWAY."
