"I am currently having mixed feelings about this company. I have not yet received my order back, but my cousin and my sister both did and I was very happy with the results. The reason why I am having mixed feelings about this company is because my cousin and I both sent our package out at the same time, and she got hers back about 2 weeks ago. My package was sent out on October 10th, and was received on the 16th. I wrote an email (on November 3rd) and they told me that my package was put into processing on October 20th and that it can take 3 weeks and that my order should be done in a few days. It is now November 11, 8 days after I wrote that email, and my order is still in processing. I just checked my order status and my shipping date has ONCE AGAIN been pushed back. This time the shipping says the 19th and the delivery date as 11/26. This was supposed to be a birthday present for someone, but I doubt that I will have it back in time. I didn't think that it would have taken a month to do. "

"It appears that I have run into the same problems as others that have used YesVideo. I also bought a Groupon that was $39 for $100 worth of credit. After sending my 6 VHS tapes to be transferred only, I found out that my credit only applied on the transferring not on the total order (transferring and ordering of DVD's). The time from when I sent off my videos, to the time they finally got them online for me to edit was over a month.

I had chosen the transfer only because I wanted to edit exactly what i wanted to have on the DVD for my children. Instead of just uploading the film they separate it into "chapters" so that it makes it much more difficult to edit. Birthday parties, family visits, holiday clips were broken up into YesVideo "chapters" so when I wanted to put them together for my DVD, they couldn't be. YesVideo doesn't allow for you to make a clip as long as you want it to be. You have to work within their perimeters. Not sure why they ask if you want transfer only, but then break it all up. Plus, the dead spots in the video and different clips are still in their "chapters". YesVideo states they use "state of the art" editing programs, however, the editing is VERY INCONCISE. I would edit what I wanted, but on the play back it wasn't right. Something that should have been so easy, was so TERRIBLE. I had so many videos to work through and I finally had to just give up trying to make it as nice as I wanted it to be and just to do the best I could. I did check with YesVideo 2 times to make sure there wasn't anything I could do about the editing, and was just told, "sorry, anything else we can help you with?"
I would never suggest that anyone use this service. What seems like a great idea turned into such a time consuming nightmare.
I did get customer service when I called, or someone would call me back. However, the over all product is seriously lacking.
I have now ordered my DVD's. I had to do 6 different orders because its not possible to put them all on one order. Thankfully when I called them again, they waived shipping charges on the last 5 so they would all go in together. Now I am crossing my fingers and hoping that this last step isn't as difficult as the rest of the experience has been!

"I see YesVideo responding, so hoping I can reach them this way! =)

I'm working with them now, using a Groupon. There's some problems already, and I cannot get a hold of a customer service representative through the phone number or with email.

First, I got a call, two weeks after sending the VHS tapes, that they couldn't process one of my tapes because the case was cracked. It was not cracked when I shipped it. Since I want my tape repaired/returned in working condition and want to use my Groupon/get the DVDs, I paid this extra fee.

Three weeks after sending my tapes, I receive an email that "my tapes are on their way! you will receive another message when they are ready to view online!" OK. Hold up a second! Wasn't I supposed to be able to view/edit the footage first? It has been Thursday (the day I rcvd the email), Friday, Monday, and now today, Tuesday, since I have been calling and emailing YesVideo. Nothing. I have been visiting the site and log-on, but there is no information available on videos to view. So I guess (and hope!) I will receive the returned tapes along with the new DVDs and I like the final, edited product... since I didn't get to edit myself, as advertised. I hope to get online access at some point, and for a full time period, since I was also looking forward to sharing the links through email, facebook, etc. which is also advertised.

"I sent my tapes via the easy ship kit. It definitely was easy. The packaging they provide was great. I then waited *weeks* to hear back from the company to give me a quote. If it was not for the ups tracking stating my order actually got to Yes Video, I would have been worried. I was still worried, wondering if my package with precious cargo was lost. Calling the company was a joke, because on two separate occasions that I called, I couldn't wait longer than the 20 minutes on hold and hung up. A rep finally got back to me with a quote and I was stunned. Even with a 20% discount, the price was astronomical. I requested the tapes just be returned to me. To do this requires "setting up an account" which requires a credit card. In fairness, they do not charge anything to the card, but ridiculous the same. I have finally, after spending an eternity on hold and the same amount of time interacting with this company, ended my relationship with this company for good. I found a local place to transfer my tapes for, not exaggerating, 75% less than YesVideo quoted.
Pros: Definitely easy to get your media to them.
Cons: Horrific customer service, prices, and policies.

"I used a Groupon coupon to have my movies and VCR tapes converted to DVDs. Though the prices were competitive (even without the coupon) I was not pleased with Yesvideo.

1. They claim to have a feature, through My Memory Safe, where you can edit your videos, which was one of the main reasons I used them. This so called "editing" feature is horrible and totally lacking in sophistication. It's impossible to select an exact place in the video to cut. Ans the place you do select isn't what comes out on the replay.

2. They randomly divide each video into 54 chapters but these are so random, they aren't even at a break in the movie. I sent them a number of 8mm movies which they put together into one (that was fine) but you would think chapters would at least fall at the place where one movie ends and the next begins but NO - not the case!

3. They do not send any confirmation emails when the DVD is mailed back to me.

4. Their editing does not allow you to add text to your DVD!

"DO NOT USE THE SERVICES OF THIS INCOMPETENT COMPANY. Took 489 slides, which are numbered and dated so it's easy to put into order, to Costco to be transferred to DVD. Got back DVDs with pictures where they do not belong. Six slides of a child born in 1973 (slide is dated) found their way into slides dated 1969. Wedding shots have the reception before the wedding. A picture of 3 guys in B'klyn was stuck in with a trip to Wash. D.C. etc. Tried to work with customer service to make the changes. After 2 hrs. I gave up and took the slides that I put back into order to Costco to be redone. Guess what? I got two new DVDs but they still have slides out of place. A series of NY State landscape shots preceed a slew of slides of a fmaily event and right after that there are 2 more slides of upstate NY. Heh? Do Itake them back a third time? I wasted more gas driving to Costco than it's worth. However, I feel I need to warn others about this awful service. Find a neighborhood photography store so that you can have a real person to talk to if things are not right. Yesvideo seem to have no quality control procedures.

Unfortunately while I was waiting for the reorder I took a tape of our 1997 vacation to Italy to be transferred to dvd. What I got back was a tape and DVD of some kids playing basketball in a school gym. Can't even tell you where. Returned everything to Costco and was later told by Yesvideo that there was no problem with the DVD cause the dvd and the tape matched. Of course they match - I was given back the wrong dvd AND tape. I asked the customer service person if she could explain to me why someone would title a movie of a basketball game, Our Bella Italia Vacation? She had no answer. Yesvideo should hire people with one or two brain cells maybe these things wouldn't happen. This is a heartache for me since my husband died last year and it is the only tape I have of him (being animated - laughing and joking) as well as my mother who passed away 6 yrs. ago. Since the camera was borrowed from a friend it is the only tape of it's kind that I have. Yesvideo is trying to get me to say I sent them the wrong tape. How could I do that if it was the only tape of its kind in my possession. So far all I've gotten form Yesvideo and Costco is that they will give me my money back. BIG DEAL - $18 back for losing my precious one of a kind memory. I'm totally heartsick. The incident number for this fiasco is 00595221. I'm going to keep trying to get back my tape if I have to call them every day - even twice a day. These incompetents have got to find my tape!!!!
WISH I COULD GIVE THEM NO STARS. EVEN ONE STAR IS ONE TOO MANY.

FOLLOW-UP: I was contacted by Darian Patchin Director of Online Marketing for YesVideo who said he will work to resolve this above issue. I was contacted daily with updates on what they were doing daily to find my tape. Unfortunately after all avenues were exhausted the tape is still missing. However, I was impressed with the fact that they were able to identify the location of where the wrong tape was shot. I was also told they called all customers who sent in tape on or around the same time I did to acertain if they had my vacation tape. While the tape is still missing, I have resigned myself to the fact that only a miracle will resolve this. Somewhere, somehow, someone made a human error. I received a $50 gift card in compensation and a promise to keep the search flagged.

"I ordered some additional copies of a video someone in my family had made I sent the Yes Video DVD as more family members wanted copies. When I ordered them I am going to be charged the full price for the first one and then a discounted price for additional copies after that. I spoke with Customer Service and that's the policy. I can see maybe a few dollars extra but full price to make a copy?? This is my last order"

"I can't comment on video-transfer services from Yes Video, because I never even got that far. I ordered an "EasyShip Kit" after receiving an e-mail advertising them at half price. Two weeks later, after I'd heard and received nothing, I replied to the order-confirmation e-mail requesting status. Two days later, thinking that maybe I'd used a no-reply e-mail (though it wasn't stated as such in the message), I went to their website and got another e-mail address and sent the same inquiry. Two more days later, still no reply. So I then dialed their main toll-free number and waited on hold for 20 minutes, all the while hearing a recorded voice tell me over and over (at least 15 times) that my wait was "3 minutes and 20 seconds." It was while on this lengthy hold that I decided I would not be trusting this company with any of my old movies, and that instead of an order status, I was going to get my money back. Finally, a charmer named "Hector" picked up the phone, and when I told him I wanted a refund for an EasyShip Kit, the first question out of his mouth was "You never received it, right?", so I guess this happens a lot. He then told me he had to put me on hold again, and I said "I've already been on hold for 20 minutes. How much longer will it be?" and in a voice dripping with sarcasm and disdain, he said that he had to go get forms (FORMS?) they used to make sure they didn't make mistakes, and if it would make me happier, he'd stay on the line with me while he did that. After listening to him mutter "oh god, oh god, oh god" and hum to himself for a while, he asked me for all of the information I supplied when I ordered: name, address, phone number, credit card, etc. NONE of it was apparently accessible under my order number. He didn't even know where I'd ordered from; at first he assumed I'd placed my order at Costco. When I assumed he had everything he needed to "give to his manager" (it's not even automated?), I thanked him and hung up. We'll see if the refund actually appears. If not, I'll be getting my bank involved. What a fiasco."

"I dropped 3 reels of film off at Costco on 7/15 and was told to expect e-mail updates all along the way as my order was received and processed. When I hadn't heard anything by 7/24 I went online to check the status. Nothing in the system. I called and after a long period on hold was told they had received my films in on 7/18 but were "way backlogged" and hadn't entered them into the system. They said to check again today so I did. Same thing. Calling now I'm told they're way behind due to a "coupon offer" and it will be an extra week or more.

I didn't use a coupon and paid full price. It's not my fault they are too busy or don't have enough people. To have the box just sitting there and not even being entered into the system seems like they just don't care. "We'll get to you when we get to you." Well, I have a good 50+ reels more to do and based on this test batch I sent them it's very unlikely I would use them again.

I wouldn't be 1/2 as annoyed if they had sent a message saying "Sorry, we blew it, here's where things stand". Instead it's complete silence on their end.

"I just got back the VHS tapes and photo album I sent in to be transferred and they look awesome. The VHS tapes I sent in were random videos of my sisters and I as children that were all shot in the 80's on those mini tapes that had later been copied onto VHS. I was worried the poor quality of the tapes would make for poor quality DVDs as well. However, YesVideo managed to make them look amazing. I had also sent in a massive baby album of mine that had tons of wrinkles in the cellophane. When I got the DVD of the photos back, they were all touched up and looking much better than the originals. I'll definitely be sending in some more stuff!"

"I had YesVideo transfer my older VHS tapes to DVD format. The VHS tapes were from the early 90's and were in poor quality at the time of sending off for transfer. YesVideo did an amazing job of transfering these old VHS tapes to DVD with great quality playback on the DVD's. They returned my VHS tapes along with the DVD's in a timely fashion and safely! They do amazing work at preserving family memories & keeping them safe at their location so you can rest assured your memories are safe in YesVideo's hands."

"I was (am) absolutely thrilled with this company and its service.

I had a 44-year old video that for years I'd meant to have copied. I was afraid to let it out of my sight. After awhile it dawned on me that holding on to it and letting it possibly deteriorate wasn't the best idea, either.

I Googled 8mm to DVD companies and found the Yesvideo.com site. I liked what I saw (and I did a lot of research on this and other sites). Sign up was easy. Submitting my information on their site was uncomplicated. The site is refreshingly organized. I carefully placed my video in a protective box and shipped it out, fully expecting the film to be beyond the point of duplication.

To my (pleasant) surprise, a few weeks later, Yesvideo.com sent me an email to let me know that not only was my video complete and on its way, but I also had the opportunity to view it online! I immediately clicked on the link they provided and cried tears of happiness. I could not believe what a great job they'd done with such an old reel.

Less than a week later, I received an expertly packed box from Yesvideo.com. Not only were my two DVDs in there, but also a package of popcorn (nice touch!) The DVDs themselves have a ton of viewing options and even include screen shots from the video.

I don't have any more 8mm films, but I'm nagging my parents to find more. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.
