Western Digital MyCloud Ex2 Ultra

"This device is the worst product I have ever installed. They setup pretty easy, and work for about 6 months. Then they lose connectivity and then you get to spend 5 days getting support from Condescending Techs who say what is wrong should not be wrong. After that they transfer the call first to Tier 2, who start over and do the entire process over. When that doesn't work, they transfer to the Mysterious Tier 3 team!!! I have gone through this 2 times, and so I know it is the way they do things. Tier 3 will not call. you will wait 3-5 more days, and then when you call frustrated because your client has not worked for 10 days, they will say the device is defective, and you need to return it. They have the worst support in the Tech industry. They should be ashamed of their support, and they should send their people to Apple for 6-10 months, and then let them come back with a real support theory. "

Awful customer service - product not working and unable to return

"Purchased a product from the online store and this is not working. Phoned up withing 7 days to return the product. Despite six calls they have not arranged this as yet. when I requested information how to make a complaint I am told that I cannot make a complaint!
Incompetent, unreliable and terrible service.

Disappointed Customer Support

"i bought M passport ULTRA 4TB 2 months ago suddenly is not working, immediately i sent Western Digital Customer Support to get an replacement as my drive is still under warranty.

Within two months i'm stuck between them and the place of purchase (Best Buy-USA) and the distributes in my country as they informed me but they refused to help as well.

Disappointed customer support no effective solutions.

Broke

"So after about 2 years my WD passport for Mac suddenly would not connect with my computer, I went to the Apple store, tried exchanging the power supply cable, and tried on multiple devices with no luck. I was so devastated as I had over 20,000 family photos and videos, along with important work documents. When I contacted the company. The tech representative said data recovery was my only option and that they could suggest companies to me. I said that if they manufacture hard drives that are meant to protect our data that themselves should offer that service. They then offered me 25% coupon on my next WD purchase and I was livid... they were essentially offering me $20 for a faulty product that is going to cost me anywhere from $800-$2000 to fix... then suggesting I buy that product again. The representative had nothing to say to me.... and then said he sent me an email... the email had a link to their list of recommended data recovery specialists and a generic response that states they are not responsible any loss of data that results from their product. Never Ever buying a product from this company again!"

The hassle of returning

"2+ weeks and 10+ phone calls to there customer service after the item was returned to them, apparently they are still trying to process my refund. So if you are planning to purchase from them, please make sure you want to keep the item or good luck getting your money back! Worst return experience ever! Will need to contact my CC to file a dispute."

"bought myCloud 4TB expecting it would replace my dropbox. For over a year I tried to set it up so it would work that way. I failed: Neither is the NAS unreliable as hell, nor does their Sync tool work properly. It seems WD is having major problems. They are not capable of producing software without major bugs. The concept of their software is awful. They have about 6 different ways to interact with your mycloud. (WD Sync, WD app Manager, WD Quick View, WD smartWare, WD Access, mycloud.com) but none of them works out properly. Usability of their products is horrible. (Please send the generated log of your mycloud: Max filesize 5mb... but the automatically generated log is around 70mb of data.)
Avoid this company at all costs!

"I purchased WD Live TV Hub back in 2013. On many occasions I tried to integrate it into my LAN for online storage for all my online computers and devices. I have been totally unsuccessful, and have been most frustrated with this product. Of all the gadgets that I have this gadget was the most difficult to set up, and it never worked for me. And whats worse their tech support was not helpful when the unit was in warranty, and now when I try to get Tech support Assistance, I am told this unit is out of Warranty. So not going to deal with this unit, and it is destined to the trash pile. "

"WD = Warning Disaster

WD should change name to Warning Disaster! If you buy WD products for backing up data you are waiting for disaster to visit you.
Bought WD My Passport, just one year old, one day my computer was unable to open it. I heard a quiet clicking sound within the device. Not a password problem, I tried it on 2 more computers in all USB ports available. WD service was verbally very polite, they sent me new cables (some the same as I already had when product was purchased), another one a so-called “Power Boost” cable. None worked. Finally, more than a month later, WD admitted I need to use a data recovery service. Sorry, they cannot help me on this, they said. The “head” had come loose, a hardware problem. Very common to WD products apparently, and the most expensive to fix. To retain the warranty I was told I had to use WD’s affiliated service companies. Cost: estimates ranged US$500 to US$700. If I used companies based in Hong Kong or Singapore, cost would have been between US$1000 to $1500. Using a non-WD affiliated company still cost me US$350 but I lost the warranty. I have 5 more WD external drives, but now I do not trust them. So I have to spend another US$500 to back them up with other brands. All very very expensive compared to the original unit price for the device. WD are polite and apologetic but this is very lame compared to the cost of buying and relying on their products.
Conclusion: Wait the Disaster if you buy WD.

"Western Digital is selling 6Gb transfer rate Hard drives. I have the WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 Sata Disk drive. I have contacted them twice in the last 2 years to resolve the issue that this drive DOES NOT TRANSFER AT 6Gb NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO (except maybe if you raid it). This is a sham from Western Digital and if they do not resolve this problem, I am taking them to court for false advertising!!!

"WD is a great company. I had a 750GB Caviar Black HDD for a few years and it went bad one day. I sent it in and when they received the HDD, they sent me a brand new 1 TB HDD with 2 day air shipping. I am very happy with their customer support."

"Had a 1GB Western Digital Passport external drive which went dead after 18 months or so. WD rep said it was still under warranty, yea!: will send me a new one if I agree to pay $100 deposit on my cridit card. Amount will be credited back when the old drive is returned. Got the new drive and returned the old drive in same packaging. My mistake: no tracking number to save $$. Now WD claims they never received the drive and it is up to me to prove I sent it. Post office is no help. So still no refund after 4 months. Nice little set up. Lesson learned! Western Digital."
