"Outstanding customer service! Param (ext. 103) and Devon (ext. 112) went above and beyond the call of duty in creating my "Dream Machine". This includes researching and installing a video card that Voodoo normally does not install in their machines. Devon and Param were always available to discuss and give my updates (daily at the end) on the progress of my order. I will be a Voodoo customer for life. "

"I ordered 2 Voodoo Omens fully maxed out. They are absolutely magnificent. My frame rates have tripled and in some cases are 4 times my old P4 machines. I cannot possibly tell you how really UBER thee cases are. Maximum cool factor. The wiring is all hidden and the inside of the cases are mirrored...very cool...The people at Voodoo have been very professional and I have absolutely no complaints what so ever...

When you order from Voodoo you are getting the very top and latest tech...some people don't emotionally belong there...Cutting edge stuff will occasionally have a problem, This stuff is really the top of the line in gaming computers... High quality, and really the best support I have experienced.

"Ok I have no idea what you other people are talking about. I ordered my Voodoo Omen PC at November or December I am not sure I remember correctly. But I recieved it at mid-end Januaury. I love it, I have had just one issue with the sound card but thats about it, everything runs smoother then a babies bottom. Voodoo has been one of the best PC sellers I have ever surchased from. Everything came well packaged, nothing got damaged on the way, tech support was all there when I needed them. Overall, I think Voodoo is one of the best Gaming PC companies ever made because to them your more than just a customer, your a lifelong friend."

"I ordered a Voodoo Rage F:5 on 1/29/2005. The
estimated build time was a month. I received
the computer on 3/23/2005, almost a month late.

There were two problems with the computer right
out of the box. First, the rechargeable
wireless mouse had no battery. Apparently,
their extensive system testing doesn't include
things like "Will the mouse work?" Worse,
Voodoo didn't have any of those batteries and
wouldn't credit me the cost for buying one.
Worse still, the mouse required batteries with a
non-standard power consumption rating,
necessitating a bit of calling around and too
much driving to find.

Second, because of inadequate packing, the SLI
connector on the graphics cards had been shaken
loose, but not so loose as to look disconnected.
After abortive attempts to get support over
e-mail, I called and was eventually told to
check that. Sounds easy, right? Well, another
thing Voodoo neglected to pack in the box were
any instructions for opening their boutique
case. In fact, there's no information about the
case, the power supply, the cooling pump, the
radiator, or plenty of non-standard components
in the machine. I was expecting a ream of
manuals, spec sheets, and diagrams. I guess I
should be happy that I got a motherboard manual
and a copy of Windows.

So a week after I get the machine, it's finally
working. I proceed to play games on it. And
the experience is...well, underwhelming. I've
jumped through all the usual hoops like
adjusting drivers and tweaking graphics
settings. But Half-Life 2 still couldn't run
well with the highest graphics settings.
Oblivion still burps when I enter big open
expanses. It's really disappointing.

Earlier this year, my wife's laptop hard drive
crashed, and our backup solution turned out to
also be somewhat broken. Because the Rage has a
RAID controller, I decided to throw a few hard
drives into it and use it as a backup device.
That's when I discovered that the hard drive
SCREWS were special - lathed at the head to fit
into the case's hard drive rack. And of course,
no extra screws came with the machine. So I
call up Voodoo and ask for eight fancy screws,
mentioning that it's pretty important as it's
for my LAN's backup RAID. Voodoo proceeds to
fumble around for a few weeks. I called
repeatedly and kept getting the runaround.
Despite offering to pay for shipping, they
insisted on sending the screws via USPS instead
of via some shipper with a tracking number. My
favorite incident from that period was calling
and being told to call back on what turned out
to be a Canadian holiday, when no one was around
who could help me. Genius!

Then the overheating started. The machine would
start up, and the CPU temp would skyrocket. I
called Voodoo up, and they told me to add
distilled water to the reservoir of pink
antifreeze. I did that.

A few days later, the machine overheats again.
I start looking around for leaks, and lo and
behold, there's a little pink crust forming
around one of the reservoir screws. I call them
back, and after asking me some questions about
my system, they tell me that they'd identified a
design flaw in my machine's separate pump and
reservoir setup, and the thing to do is to
install a unified pump and reservoir. Of
course, since my machine is out of warranty,
they had to sell me the part, so he arranges to
have sales call me to pay for it the next day.
The tech support person tells me this on
December 12. I end up getting the part on
1/3/2007, despite paying for it promptly. Seems
that they sent the part to my old address, even
though they sent the screws to my new address
just months ago AND that I confirmed my current
address as my billing and shipping address when
I bought the part, then was told that it was
being changed in their system. They never saw
fit to give me a tracking number (again!), and
they never noticed that the part wasn't
successfully delivered.

And what do I get when I get the part? Do I get
the complete installation instructions, as
promised? I get two hastily-photocopied pages
describing installation into a bare machine,
full of uselessly blurred diagrams. Nothing
about the RAGE. Nothing about how to drain my
system. And all this for a markup of 50% above
what it would have cost me to buy this part
myself online and have it shipped to my correct
address. And all this, remember, because of
Voodoo's design mistake.

I've told Voodoo repeatedly that I'm frustrated
with them and that they need to make this right.
They've done nothing.

For the amount of money I paid for this machine,
I could have purchased a car, driven to a big
chain store on the day after Thanksgiving,
bought a commodity computer and two games,
waited in line for hours to pay for it all, and
still come out happier and wealthier.

Please, please, PLEASE don't make the same
mistake that I made! If your experience is like
mine, the only thing you'll get when you open
that box "Sealed with a Hex" is a curse.

"55 day build time, laptop arrived different than specs 6.0 pounds, 1.1" thick, 1900x1200 resolution(heavier7.1 pounds, thicker1.5", less screen resolution1680x1200) bad paint job, lots of problems with the laptop(missing driver, old software, trial versions of software , returned for repair, received back with paint mostly fixed, keyboard, lcd problems still present, battery time poor( at least an hour less than other compal HEL80 laptops (ODM)), slower than my old m360, touchpad software not working due to conflict with keyboard, customer care poor. Do not recommend this model at this time, my experience with voodoo this time poor, previous experience great.will be happy to update this review if/when the problems resolved.

It went back to Voodoo, I asked for a different machine as this was a lemon. I was told no. They can fix it. It came back with the paint fixe, although the voodoo ,label is a bit twisted under the clearcoat, The lcd was marginally better, battery life was poor, hard drive was continually being accessed by the fingerprint security program. touchpad software didn't work, had to use generic windows PS2 mouse software for it to work at all. Lots of missstyping by the keyboard, I was told that it was due to an overly sensitive touchpad. the microphone chopped words. the LCD developed a 1 cm white spot mid screen and had intermittent black bands accross the bottom. It was sent back for repair/replacement or refund. I am waiting to see what will be done with this trainwreck. I have 3 other voodoo laptops that are trouble free and a rage desktop that is also a pleasure. When I spoke with Trevor today he offered to do whatever was necessary to make things right.
Touchpad reported fixed by driver update, microphone working, LCD screen being replaced. Laptop returning tomorrow. Very fast turnaround. Assuming that is the case, I am satisfied. They made the effort. I guess that I was just unlucky with the hardware this time. The other voodoo machines I have work great with no (nock on wood) problems. The laptop has been back to Voodoo a total of 4 times, each time there has been problems with the hard drive continuously being accessed. It would write about 1GB per hour in temp files to the hard drive. the first hard drive burned up the replacement was having the same issues. Back it went, possible motherboard problems, possible, virus ( in a fresh install from their VDRS) possible bad virus. after a 2 week delay I told them I was fed up and wanted a refund their Manager Trevor Kells agreed. He sent me a refund for what I paid minus 10% restocking fee.

"After three months of trying to fix my Omen PC I gave up with VooDoo as I could not leave it with them indefinitely.

I asked for my money back but they refused.

Basically, the computer continues to experience stability issues when one uses the front USB ports. As it sits now the front memory card readers are connected with a USB cable which loops to the external back USB port where it now takes up one of these ports. When I recently tried to do an update on me Garmin Street Pilot the system crashed. I ended up having to do the update with my old Dell.

"After reading some very positive reviews about VoodooPC on virtually every site available (including this one), I made the decision to purchase an i534 notebook PC. I have yet to receive this machine although I hear and read that they are spectacular. It is now the 49th day since I placed the order, and the unit has not even been shipped.

After calling multiple times over the past month and a half, I learned that this company is EXTREMELY short-staffed and unable to hold its own during the back-to-school rush. My notebook was waiting to be painted for over 3 weeks. That is 3 whole weeks where the parts sat on a shelf somewhere with nothing at all being done with them. Since then, I have called about once a week to check the status. After finally being painted it got built and was headed for the software department... then after that it went BACK to painting and BACK through development (evidently something had been found defective with the unit so it needed some part replaced- no detail provided at all as to what specifically happened).

The unit has now just come out of its second time through painting and is now being re-assembled. This will mean that by the time I get it (I'm thinking at the earliest this friday and that's going to be tight for them, knowing how my expectations have been shattered so far) I will have waited over 50 days for my computer. I find this to be unacceptable, even if they are short-staffed, because it is no surprise when the back-to-school season occurs; so hire some seasonal staff! I do realize also that I made my purchase during the acquisition of VoodooPC by Hewlett-Packard and that they may have been tied up with finishing that deal. Had I known that would be happening at the point-of-purchase, I would not have made the purchase during that time. However they chose to keep everything a secret and allow customers' orders to fall behind while they completed the deal behind closed doors, and noow I have been without a computer for school for almost 2 months.

VoodooPC has yet to offer me any sort of compensation for having to deal with this. It isn't like I bought the machine in its cheapest possible configuration either. The total price of the order came to over $4800.

I will wait and see how this turns out and how the actual machine looks and works after all of this. If Voodoo offers some kind of decent resolution I would be willing to consider changing this review but otherwise I hold them in very low regard right now due to the slow progress of my order and their lack of communication with me when the unit was being sent back for re-painting (I only found out because I called THEM).

EDIT AS OF NOVEMBER 24, 2006:
----------------------------------

Shortly after writing my original review, Devon from VoodooPC contacted me to apologize for the lack of communication and customer service provided during the month or so since the date I had ordered the laptop. Since then he and the rest of the Voodoo team have been extremely helpful getting my leptop to me as soon as possible.

I would order from them again (provided I ever see that kind of money again... lol) and I would recommend them to others, but would also recommend ordering during off-peak season. Even during off-peak, expect a LONG wait. It IS worth the wait.

To speak of the actual laptop itself, the paint job is beautiful and continues to be complimented every time I show it to someone new. The clarity of the display is outstanding. The display resolution of this 15 inch laptop rivals that of most 17 inches, beating them by more than 200 pixels in width in most cases. This helps it deliver the sharpest image possible, which is essential for gaming.

Thanks again to Devon and the entire VoodooPC team for their support and I hope that if I have any issues going forward with this laptop, they will be taken care of with the same friendly and efficient customer service I have received over the past week.

Before I placed my order on an a538 (now the I534) I called ahead of time to ask about some specs on the laptop that were different depending on where you looked on their website. There was no wait time and I was greeted by cheerful employee. He had to put me on hold sometimes to find the answers to some of my questions but other than that he was helpful.

I configured my a538 and placed my order on their website.

After I placed my order I got a confirmation e-mail that said I should check the specs on their website to make sure everything was ok and that they would start as soon as they got my payment. Well the link on their website to the pdf that displayed my system information didn’t work, and never did work even to the day my computer arrived. And also I paid in full with credit card so I didn’t know why they said they would start when they received my payment. I e-mailed them, but no one ever responded. I called them a few days later and they said everything was fine.

I called on about day 14, after not hearing from them at all, and they said my computer had been painted and that it was still on track to meet its 30 day deadline.

I called again about 5 days later to see what was going on. I was then
told that my computer had NOT been painted. The person I talked to was
very apologetic and apologized for me being misinformed. I was then
still assured that my computer was on track with the 30 day estimate. I
also requested that I receive e-mail updates every so often; I never received any.

I placed another call around day 23. I was told that my computer still
had not been painted. The employee said that my color, Moroccan blue,
was in high demand. He also told me that my computer would take an
extra 5-10 days to get to me.

Then I called again on about day 26. I was told that my
computer had been painted. I was told that all the parts were in stock
and that my computer would be built in the next day or two.

I called to check on the status of my computer again on about day 31. AGAIN I was told that it had NOT been painted.
This time I did not simply hang up, satisfied with the answer, "it will
be painted shortly." I asked Param (this was the only time out of all
the times I called that anyone introduced themselves to me, I was never assigned my own representative like others say they have been) to really
look into what was going on. He said he would call me back in 20
minutes. He never did. I called back at the end of the day; Param told
me that my computer would be painted on Monday.

I finally got my computer on day 56 (even up to this point every time I checked the status of my order using their automated website status checker it would tell me that my computer was awaiting parts), only a week before I left for school. To my surprise the computer looked nothing like the one pictured on their website. The chassis is completely different. Sure the specs are the same, but it is a completely different computer. I don’t know how they can do this. I should have been notified of this.

Ultimately, I never once received any updates from them, I had to call them every time. And they were often wrong. I actually wrote to Rahul, the owner, on about day 45 after I had gone through all this trouble explaining to him what I had gone through. He responded promptly and said I had his attention, and I received two more emails the next day from different employees apologizing for what I had gone through. After that I received two more e-mail updates on the progress of my order.

I have no real complaints about the product itself. The computer, besides the chassis, is what I ordered and what I expected. The paint job is very nice, the keyboard is solid and feels good, and the computer has plenty of inputs and outputs. The screen is not super bright and glossy, but I think that’s because it’s a non-glare screen. The only problems that I’ve come across are that when my computer arrived the sticker that covers the camera was coming off, so I had to superglue it back on myself. Also I don’t like the mouse pad all that much and the buttons feel kind of sticky, but that’s not a big deal for me because I use a wireless mouse.

Although I had bad service with Voodoo, after they realized how dissatisfied I was and understood fully what I had gone through (after they read the initial version of this review on this website) they immediately called me and not only apologized again for what I had gone through but offered me a few things to make up for it. They ultimately extended my warranty to three years and they also said they would send a few video games for free. Times like this is when it pays to work with a small company that cares about their customers. I don’t think any other company would have done that. Ultimately I am fairly satisfied with my decision to purchase from Voodoo.

"*Note* I have not received my laptop yet but I will continue to update my review until I receive it *Note*

I initially started searching for a desktop computer way back in March. After months and months of researching components and reading reviews on systems from Voodoo, Falcon, Alienware, Velocity, etc. I decided on Overdrive PC. However, taking into account that I would be moving into my dorm soon I realized that a laptop would be a better choice. Voodoo was originally on the bottom of my list for desktops due to the fact they have an extremely large premium, but their laptop prices are fairer and decided on the lovely A:538.

-After making my decision, I came up with a list of questions to ask the Voodoo Sales Rep. Giving them a call I was welcomed with a very short wait time and a friendly representative. I asked him all my questions and he responded satisfying all my inquiries. However I was slightly disappointed when he had to look up some of my questions. When you pay this much for a laptop I was expecting him to know everything off the top of his head...maybe I was expecting too much??

-After placing my order I quickly received an email from voodoo stating that I could give them a call or send an email with any questions and even visit the Mutthaboards as I wait for my computer. I also received an email to confirm that my order was correct and if I wanted to make changes. This was all very nice and much more efficient than any one else I have experienced...but for the price you pay...they better be.

-A week after checking the status of my laptop three times a day, I sent an email (impatient I guess) over to Customer Care questioning the precise status of my laptop. And a friendly (from what I can tell) guy named Lee Tran updated me and told me if I needed anything else to contact him. Satisfied with the extremely speedy reply (overnight) I waited and waited...

-A couple weeks later I start to get nervous as the website was stating that my computer was still awaiting parts so I sent another email over to Mr. Tran. He said that there is a delay and he apologizes and is adjusting the ETA to September 1st. It was cutting it close towards when I move in to my dorm (which I informed him in my first email) but I am willing to wait for quality.

-Weeks later and an email to the Admin of the Mutthaboards (I am banned for no reason, didn't even post yet, and still no answer or un-ban) as well as another one to Mr. Tran, I am informed that there is still a delay in the painting of my system.

-Here I am now, past the original ETA date, awaiting September 1st (which may not be the date either), banned from the forums and preparing for being computer-less my first week or so in college. Is this all worth it? I have yet to find out, but I am still patiently (as much as I can) waiting for my laptop and putting no pressure on Voodoo. It arrives when it arrives and as long as I get the quality that I have been so told, I will be very satisfied.

-Updates coming soon.

"hi, my name is bob and I just wanted to comment on voodoo pc! I've had bad dealings in the past with other computer vendors and its such a pleasure to deal with professionals, like the ones at voodoo pc. their entire staff is friendly, respectful and very up to date on the pc buisness. every question I asked was answered quickly and correctly by their sales staff. they treated me like I was a king of a small country, unsurpassed service and their quality is superb! "i was looking for a good gaming laptop. after researching i decided to go with voodoopc after having a great experience with them a year and a half ago. i decided to get the envy u734. i placed the order on june 13. Lee from sales was very helpful. there was no pressure involved. i went ahead and took the imola orannge color. so i had to wait for 30 days to recieve the system, i dont mind waiting as long as i get a quality system. hanging arounf the forums at voodoopc made the wait easier.also, rozzie at voodoo sent some photos of the system while it was being built. anyways, recieve the system on july 13. now, i must say it is absolutely beautiful!! paintjob is excellent! played some games on it, and it played flawlessly. heat was not an issue. now people say im crazy for paying a premium for a laptop, but after seing the quality built and the level of service i got, it is worth every penny!! i would definitely get another system from them in the future."

"I purchased a Hexx system (FX-60, 7900GTX 512MB, 2GB Corsair 3500LL Pro, X-Fi Extreme Music, 160GB HDD, BAM finish) and I have been very impressed with its performance and low noise levels. Multiple applications running at once pose no problem to this machine and gaming has been nothing short of a supurb experience; I am currently playing Oblivion with very high settings for landscape etc...and this machine has performed flawlessly even with background applications running (AVG antivirus/firewall and Spyware Doctor). The 9CM fans (4 total) keep this rig running cool and the PSU fan adds to the overall cooling efficiency also. Even with the 6 total fans, this machine runs very quiet. My entire purchasing experience with the VooDoo staff was great and they recieve my commendation for their efforts to keep me informed of the status of my build as well as the shipping and subsequent follow up they did when I recieved my rig. The packaging was top notch and the attention to detail/craftsmanship of VooDoo staff was apparent when I opened my rig up to take a look at the guts of the machine. I have owned other boutique systems in the past and VooDoo recieves my highest recommendation. "

"THe purchasing experience was incredible. Never have I seen such customer service. They were the ones that called me, not the other way around. They kept me in the loop and answered me my questions. When they were not sure of a component they called me to double check. The timing was precisely the time they gave me, ETA of 30 days. Beautiful notebook and amazing preformance. Voodoo PC has won a loyal customer! THANKS GOES OUT TO PARAMJEET!"

"As with most so-called "boutique" manufacturers, this company is a RIP-OFF. They charge you a 50% (or greater) premium for shoddy tech support (Only available 9-5 mon-fri and I've often called to recieve nothing more than an answering machine that was FULL), crappy warranty coverage (they max out at 3 years and PCs must be shipped back to Voodoo HQ in Calgary, Canada at the owner's expense) and they offer NO incentives for returning customers on the grounds that doing so would "cheapen their brand".

DO NOT buy from the company, I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. They only care about their image and their ego. I feel like a fool and a sucker for wasting the kind of money I did on one of their machines.

The offer nothing to justify their extreme price and fail in many areas where much cheaper companies succeed. Do yourself a favour and avoid Voodoo at all costs! Ironically, it will end up costing you a heck of a lot more if you don't.

Summary: All style and no substance. Don't be seduced by their fancy webpage and glossy photos. While their PCs may look special on the outside, on the inside they are nothing remarkable and certainly not worth anywhere close to what they charge. That and the customer care is ABYSMAL. They will excuse everything on the grounds that they are a "boutique" company. Allow me to translate. Boutique = A Scam to mark up thier products and provide inferior support because they are too small and greedy to compete with the big manufacturers.

If you wonder why they sell ANY machines whatsoever, remember what P.T. Barnum said, "There's a sucker born every minute." Don't be that sucker. Stay FAR FAR away from Voodoo PC.
