Total waste of time

"I had an unfortunate buying experience with Vistek. I was looking for a video camera that had been on the market for a little over two years now. I looked at Vistek’s website and saw that I was able to purchase this camera. I visited their Mississauga store and told that this camera would be a special order since it has been a while that this model has been out. I was even told that this camera is still current. I placed the order and was told that it would take three weeks. Not a problem, I was in no big rush to get it. I paid for the camera and the extended warranty. Three weeks went by and called the store only to be told that this video camera has been discontinued. I told them that I will be returning the store for a refund. I arrive at the store, get out the charge card for a refund and the machine said “SALE”. Also, I entered the PIN number. It through me off because I misinterpreted it as “discount” or “refund” or something like that. NO! It means the same as “PURCHASE”. I have never seen that before. When you buy something with a card, the machine always displays the word “PURCHASE” and then the amount. Not “SALE”. So now I have been charged twice for a product that I am not going to receive. Not only that, their printer was not set up with their computers to print the receipt. The sales manager was there and told the other clerk how to resolve the problem. I had to be refunded twice so my card had to go into the machine two more times. No PIN was required. That is another lesson. Refunds do not require a PIN. The receipts were finally printed and I had to wait three stressful days for the refund to go through. The second charge appeared instantly on my statement. This whole ordeal lasted almost 20 minutes when it should have been only five. No one needs to go through this! Vistek should know whether or not they are able to provide products that customers request by whatever means. I have called other camera/video stores and they were able to say that this product is no longer available."

"Ordered a $300 camera bag that fell within their free shipping policy. Not only did it take 4 days for them to get back to me they then quoted a $60 charge to ship it to BC.

Never shopping with them again.

Waiting forever for art paper order

"Ordered Moab Entrada paper from Vistek Online store on Oct 18 , 2018. It's now November 28 and I'm still waiting. Updates have been going on for weeks..."it will arrive in our Calgary store early next week",.."it will be shipped from our Toronto warehouse by the end of this week"...and on... which make it more frustrating because you seemingly can't believe a word they say. So who knows now? I still haven't heard back from customer support (who said the package was arriving soon) since last Friday and it's now Wednesday. Worst part is I've already paid online for the product and shipping with diminishing hope that I or my client will see it before the end of 2018. "

Is There Anything About Them is Not a Lie?

"They claim no shipping charges for purchases over $99. Lie #1
The emailed order confirmation states "grand total" charges. Lie #2
Order confirmation states "For all pre-orders, Vistek will not charge your credit card until the item is shipped." Lie #3
Vistek.ca is NOT a reliable or legitimate web site that a consumer can trust. I would not recommend that anyone buy from them.

Unwilling to budge

"This isn't a review for the product but rather Vistek's questionable return policy.

I bought a full set of inks and a maintenance cartridge with the hope that the latter would be the only problem with my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. Unfortunately, the cartridge was not the only problem with the printer so I took it back with a full set of unopened ink, expecting a full refund.

It was a pain the a** to return the inks and maintenance cartridge because they initially didn't have Photo Black in stock. As such, getting a refund for an ink cartridge that they didn't physically have and would have had to order for me anyway proved to be a half hour fiasco. All they had to do was give me the refund for a full set of inks and worry about getting the other one from Edmonton or Toronto to update their stock later.

When it came to the maintenance cartridge, they absolutely would not give me a refund because the box was slightly ripped at the opening (my fault) and they claimed they could no longer sell it as new. Rather than giving me a refund and taking a loss of a few dollars and sell it as opened or refurbished, they stuck me with a product that I will never use.

The bottom line is that I will never support Vistek again unless they have the lowest price on what I'm looking for. In this case, they even beat Amazon! So I'll go to The Camera Store and Vistek will likely lose all future sales with me. Losing a few dollars and keeping a customer happy or sticking to their far too rigid return policy? Give me a break!

"I am most impressed with the recent online (vistek.ca) purchase I made on Canon VIXIA HFG30 HD Camcorder. The price was very good and the deliver was fast. I paid the extra $10 for FedEx overnight shipping from Toronto to BC. The camcorder arrived in less than 24 hrs and it was well packed. I am so glad that I found the site as there's almost very little options out there in Canada buying a higher end consumer camcorder with a good price and service. "

"Such an awful experience. Made a very large order on vistek.ca with overnight shipping, 10 days later I have still not received my order and have emailed 3 times asking about where it is, of course no response. 3 emails not responded to and a large order still not shipped even though I ordered overnight shipping. Not amused. I recommend no one use vistek ever!"

"I ordered a couple of hard drive adapters that Vistek had listed on their website. They shipped two very different ones that I didn't know anything about and couldn't find information about online. There was no offer to replace with what I had ordered. The also didn't provide further information as promised.
Don't know if I got a good price, can't compare. Shipping was expensive.

"I don't get what the bad reviews are all about ; seriously. I now ordered three times in the last couple of months ( first a Canon 6d body bundled with a bag, an extra battery, a sd card and cleaning kit, secondly a Canon 16-35 f4 is lens and last time a Tamron 24-70 f2.8 vc with a Lowepro flipside bag ). I had troubles in the beginning because the 6d with the bundle was not advertised other than in the rebates section so I ended up buying the body only and found later ( when I got back to buy the 16-35 ) that I could have had all the rest for only 60.00$ more so I wrote to them that I wasn't too happy about that since I was going to need an extra battery anyway so just there, it was more than the 60.00$! They wrote me back and we discussed back and forth very politely and they sent me, after I already had received the camera, the rest of the bundle charging me 60.00$ and no shipping fee!! I ordered the 16-35 and 24-70 on two separate occasions after that completing what I needed and everything went really smoothly!

As for the price, I don't know the prices in Ontario or in other provinces but for what I got, the prices were better or on par with the lowest I could find in Quebec the advantage of ordering from Vistek being that I had no provincial sale tax to pay ( 10% in Quebec ). The 6d for example ordered from them ended up costing me 170.00$ less because of the tax break. I would and will buy from them again! I just had to say something after stumbling on this reviews ( I entered Vistek in google to go on the site and saw this page in the first results and absolutely didn't understand ).

zero communication unless I contact them. site said it was in stock. at the time of ordering.

"Unfortunately I only read the view after I encountered problems with Vistek. Their policy is setup such that they only protect the seller. Once the cash gone through, you're on your own. Don't bother calling, the cocky horrible "customer service" people would shame you away from calling back again. It was the worst online purchase experience I've had. It was a nightmare and I would never ever buy from them again."

"This is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. Seriously. I tried to buy paper on their site with 3 different methods of payment, all of which were denied. Then I tried to call their phone number to order online and was told I couldn't order anything through them unless I was to pick it up in person, they then transferred me to their web dept team who then said they couldn't help me and wanted to transfer me back to the sales team. At this point I asked to speak to a manager and they tried to transfer me and hung up on me. I tried to call back to speak to the manager and got his voicemail. When I finally got through it doesn't even seem like they have the paper in stock, despite advertising it online. I work in ecommerce and can not believe how bad this company is. If you have any alternative source to buy your photo products from, do it and avoid this company like the plague. "

"After reading numerous unfavorable reviews about Vistek's customer service, I contacted them to discuss the status of items in stock and to obtain assurance they could ship promptly. The person I dealt with was very friendly and provided excellent service. He informed me two items were not in stock, but they would be available later in the week. He subsequently confirmed receipt of the product and assured me Vistek could ship the items later that afternoon or the next day. I proceeded with the order, was notified it had been shipped the next day, and was totally surprised to receive the shipment in the mail the next morning! I was totally satisfied with my online purchase and would definitely shop at Vistek again. "

"This store overcharges and never has stock. They leave all of there products in Toronto so if you order at any other location you will wait 10-14 business days for what you want. Then they try to sell you on a rental while you wait. They are CON ARTISTS. Also the staff there always talks down to you as know it alls. Very unfriendly and sneaky! Also there prices are marked up more than any other store around Calgary. Check out "The Camera Store" just down the street for lower prices. The only time Vistek is good is on a boxing day special IF they have the product in, which they usually dont!"
