"I ordered 4 items sony trv-740, case, Hi8 tape and 128mb memory stick. The salesman told me the items would be shipped in 10 days and they were minus the 128mb memory. I carefully looked at the enclosed receipt and it said the item was on back order.

The salesman never mentioned this to me and when I called they told I would receive it within 7 days since a new shipment was arriving that week. It was 5/7/02 when I decided to cancel the order for the 128mb memory without any problems. The salesman was polite, helpfull and professional during the initial sale and cancelation also the product received where new retail boxed items.

I would have reccomended then fully except after looking them up on the http://www.bbbsoutheastflorida.org.
There are 2 seperate entries under business bureau for video direct one giving them a satisfactory rating which is there current address and another with a earlier address claiming that they refused to provide information to the Better Business Bureau.

My experience with them was good although I was dissapointed in not being told that the 128mb was back ordered and being charged for item that was not shipped and they had no idea when it would be shipped.

"placed an order for a sony camcorder one month ago and was told it would be shipped after 2 weeks. Well, after four weeks, and i called several times and always told it would be in in a few days or the next week. But just maybe or may not be. So, I just cancelled my order. Anyway, the rep's were polite,but I just can not get the camera after one month..."

"After hearing all the nightmare stories about unscrupulous online electronics dealers I was reluctant to trust anybody! I did a lot of research before ordering and read reviews of Video Direct this ReSellerRatings.com. Fortunately Video Direct turned out to be the real deal. I called and told them what I wanted (the Sony DCR-VX2000 miniDV cam). The guy I spoke with, RM, was very knowledgeable and he didn't engage in any hard sell tactics. He told me it would ship within 2 weeks and it arrived in 4 days. I got a very good price, in between the unscrupulous price slashers in New York and Sony's listed retail price of $2999. And after further inspecting my delivery I have found everything to be in great shape! The camera arrived in its factory box, it was sealed with Sony tape, with all the appropriate warranty information.

I also checked their accessories against BestBuy, as I had heard a lot of online companies lowball their cameras and jack up the price on their accessories. VideoDirect beat everything found at BestBuy - for example they offered an NP-F750 battery for $79, BestBuy's price was $99.

I know I'm going off about this more than I should and I probably sound like some dealer plant! I'm not, I was just so alarmed by all the terrible things I had read about these New York dealers that I was skeptical about ordering from anyone. Unfortunately I had no choice in the matter since I live in rural Arkansas and had no other options available to me. And now I know there ARE reputable online companies that deliver the goods. You just have to do your homework!

By the way, Sony's website is TERRIBLE and I had to use creative strategizing to find out if Video Direct was in fact an authorized Sony dealer. I got Video Direct's address, then went to Sony's Dealer Locator page and entered Video Direct's zip code. Sure enough, their name popped up as an authorized Sony dealer.
