"In June 2010 I ordered a Wagenfeld Bauhaus Lamp from "http://www.urbanhom.com". As of today I have not received the lamp. Email inquiries generate an automatic response which is never followed up with a substantive answer. Calls are never answered. A few months ago the original website has been closed down and the identical content can now be reached under "http://www.lightgreydesign.com/". As tempting as the price and item displayed is, do not waste your money. After posting the above review on JabberJabber early March URBANHOM / LIGHTGREYDESIGN sent an email that the merchandise is being shipped. Today, April 19, 2011 the merchandize still has not arrived. Additionally, do not count on having the money returned.


About two weeks ago (May 10, 2011) I received an email asking if I still wished to receive the original order of a Wagenfeld Bauhaus Lamp. I responded that I do. On Friday, May 20, the promised box arrived – more than 10 months late. Nonetheless, the lamp is as described and is working properly. In my case it seems that, if you have the time to wait and if you are willing to spend the time on line to write the appropriate reviews while waiting, the company will deliver - eventually. I am quite satisfied with the lamp. Unfortunately, the less than forthcoming responses I received during my long wait soured my attitude towards ordering any other items from this company.

"UrbanHom.com / LightGrayDesign.com is a complete scam.... We ordered an item that was listed as "in stock" with "doorstep delivery in 7-10 days". It never came and there were no replies to phone calls or emails. BEWARE... We had to dispute the charge with Visa to get our money back. UrbanHom.com is now called LightGrayDesign.com. Urban hom - urbanhome.com - light gray design - lightgraydesign.com - furniture is a complete scam - Beware of buying furniture from Urban hom - urbanhome.com - light gray design - lightgraydesign.com. Beware!"

"BREAKING NEWS: After getting screwed by urbanhom (they took 5 months to deliver, and then when it did get delivered, it was the wrong product...and like everyone else, excuses, no answering emails or phone calls and BS when they do get back to you). After filing a BBB complaint and getting no where with Shane, I contacted my credit card company and supplied them with a case load of proof. I got my money back after a few months and obviously Urbanhom did not work with them to rectify the problem. Here's the kicker, two months after getting my money back, Shane/urbanhom, sends a COLLECTION agency after me. Can you believe that guy???? So I wrote them back and told them that Shane is breaching contract by not delivering the product as described and that he was given many chances to pick the furniture back at his expense. Let's see what happens now and this has taken almost a year!!!"

"UrbanHom.com is a complete scam. They are criminals who take your money and pretend they would deliver the furniture you thought you ordered. I paid over $3,000 on a set of patio furniture and never received the merchandise. Once the order is placed, they take your money right away and you never hear from them again. This is Internet Fraud at it's worst and if you read this, please DO NOT purchase anything from them. Their business is fraudulent and unethical."

"This website and their customer service COMPLETELY sucks. Once they get your money, they do not respond to phone calls or emails. They took my order in 06/2010 and it is october....still no product or sign of the product. Nor will they call me back, or give me an estimated time of arrival. Their CEO "Shane" is a total con artist....PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE LOOKED AT EVERY OTHER OPTION. I'm still struggling to try and at lease get my money back."

"I called before ordering to find out about delivery timelines and the rep (Jake) said the site's estimate of 8-10 weeks was accurate. Well, we're going on 18 weeks and still nothing. Just empty promises. They don't answer calls, they answer emails sporadically. It's a horrible experience full of lies. How can anyone consciously be in this sort of business. They try to fluff themselves with Facebook pages and web marketing when what they really should worry about is keeping whatever few customers they have. What a disgrace!"

"On Friday, October 23, 2009 I placed an order for two patio furniture sets. The email confirmation I received the same day for the order said "Availability: Arrival Doorstep 3 to 8 weeks". $3199.98 was taken out of my account the following Monday. After many emails (all of which I saved) and phone calls later, I FINALLY got a delivery on March 23, 2010 exactly 5 MONTHS since I had placed the order. I received one of the sets that came in 2 boxes so I signed for the delivery, but called and emailed UrbanHom immediately to let them know only ONE set had arrived. After an additional 2 MONTHS since that phone call I was told the delivery company (Home Direct USA) lost the set and is "searching for it". I was told a 2nd search was then being done and would take 24-48 more hours and they would let me know when they found it. Two more months went by with no word. Finally I spoke with a Jake on the phone who said even though all the emails had his name on them, he was unaware of this issue. So he said he would take care of it. His boss Shane finally agreed a refund for the one set not received ($1649.99) was the best way to fix this. After weeks of calling saying I had not received a refund I finally got an email confirmation June 1, 2010 that $3199.98 had been refunded. However this is July 7 and no money has been received. I have emailed and left messages but get no returned calls."

"I want to warn others about the experience they may have when shopping urbanhom. I purchased two items, a chaise and a bistro set, back in December. I was told and received a confirmation email that they would be delivered in 6-8 weeks. I only received the chaise 4 months later on April 7th. I have tried to contact the company several times regarding the other $900 item that I ordered, and they will not contact me back, nor will they answer their phone. The customer service is awful! Beware before you buy anything from this site. Here is a summary that I wrote to the president about my experience. I only got a one liner email apologizing for the service. I just want the product that I purchased or my money back!!!!

>>I hope this letter finds it's way to you, because I think you need to be aware of the operations and customer service of your company. I was hoping that I had found a great company to establish an ongoing shopping relationship because your products are in many cases customizable at a very good rate. However, I guess, as in most things in life, I am finding that you get what you pay for, meaning that if it is a good deal, something is probably tilted the other way, and in your case, it is reliability and customer service.

I can honestly say that I have never been treated so horribly by a company before. Let me summarize my experience for you:

12/17/09 - Placed an order online for payment by phone because the site said free shipping, and I was charged for shipping. 12/17/09-12/21/09 - Was contacted by company at very odd hours for payment, attempted to call back several times, no one ever seemed to answer.
12/21/09 - Finally spoke to a woman about payment, she adusted payment for free shipping, and I completed transaction. I felt better about the purchase, because she said that I would receive emails as the items were in production, completed, and then when they were shipped.
12/21/09 - 2/1/10 - No communication from company via email or phone

~2/8/10 - (7 weeks past payment date) - I call to inquire about status of product, leave invoice number and 2 contact numbers - no returned call.
~2/15/10 - (8 weeks) - I call to inquire about status of product, leave invoice number and 2 contact numbers - no returned call.
~2/18/10 - (8 1/2 weeks) - I call to inquire about status of product, leave invoice number and 2 contact numbers - no returned call.
~2/23/10 - (9 weeks) - I call, leave same information, explain disappointment of not receiving calls back, finally call is returned. All I am told is that the product is finished and is in customs. When it clears customs which should be a couple of days, it is shipped, and I will receive a tracking number. No further information about when I can expect to receive shipment, etc.
~3/2/10 - (10 weeks) - I call to inquire about status of product, leave invoice number and contact number - no returned call
3/4/10 - (10 1/2 weeks) - I call, speak to someone, leave order number to inquire about product as I was told I would receive tracking number and the item should have cleared customs. Representative takes my number and says he will call back within the hour - never calls back.
3/8/10 (11 weeks) - I call back, speak to someone, leave order number, told I will receive a call within an hour - no returned call
3/9/10 - I call extremely frustrated at this point at the service I had received. I speak to Derek I believe. He tells me that he will call me back, and I inform him that I will wait on the phone until he gives me some information as I have not had any luck with this company "calling me back." He tells me that the shipping company has it now, and they should have sent a tracking number. I inform him that I have not received a tracking number. I also inform him that I am extremely frustrated and I am starting to feel like this is a scam and that I should go to the police and/or contact a lawyer. I express my frustrations that the site says that the items will be on my doorstep in 6-8 weeks, and it is now way beyond that. He proceeds to correct me, and tell me that the shipping window is 8-10 weeks (I have confirmation email that states 6-8 week delivery time). He also tells me that it is out of the company's hands at this point, and with the shippers. He quickly says the name, and says that I need to go online and enter my telephone number to track the shipment.

I recognize you have a supply chain, and you do not ship the product directly. However, you, as a company, are responsible for that supply chain until the product arrives at the customer's door. If your shipping company does not provide tracking numbers, you should be following up on this, if the shipping company is delayed, you should measure them, and if not performing, use another company. I suggest you either work with your supply chain in getting the product to the customer in the specified time frame, or be more realistic online and in your order confirmations about the delivery window.

"I ordered a set of outdoor furniture in November with the promise of delivery in 6-8 weeks. It is now April and I don't have my order. They charged me in November. Customer Service is horrendous and has yet to give me a straight answer.

My order was finally shipped at the end of March - but watch out for the FREE Shipping! Like I said, end of March - it is April. My order is sitting in Plainfield, IN waiting for another scheduled delivery to my area so my order can "piggyback" with that delivery.

While their prices may be appealing, their service is terrible. And if you want your item in a reasonable amount of time - FORGET IT! I would have much rather paid a little more - and even paid for shipping - just to get my order.

Stop - don't look back - don't even bother with UrbanHom.com !!!!

"Be aware!!!! Bought 2 chaises from this seller which he offers with cushions. The site even give you the option to choose the fabric color. The chaises arrived with no cushion and after writing 3 times to a person called Shane, his answer was as follow:"Like I mentioned before there was a mistake on the website and this specific chaise lounge does not come with cushions". This seller is not to be trusted. You can not justify not sending what you offered by saying there was a mistake on the website. Besides that he promise to deliver on 3 to 7 weeks. It took 12 weeks for the chaise to arrive. Do yourself a favor and buy from somebody more honest!!!!"
