"My orginal internet order with Total Pro Digital was for a Nikon d90 and a 18 - 200 VR Nikor lens, $1048, free shipping. TPD emailed back that I needed to call them to complete the order. This seemed awkward. On the phone with Alex my order was slowly turned toward another 'DEAL' -- the NIKON d5000 camera and a Sigma lens and I was given a break on pro quality filters, rapid battery charger and a 8GB pro memory card -- a bargain kit for $1399. When I hesitated to ok it -- he 'threw in' free expedited shipping and insurance. Alex said he was a professional photographer and seemed knowledgable on what my projected needs would be regarding this purchse. I deferred to that and ok'd the order. I was going to use American Express but he couldn't accept that(even though AE logo is on their website). The charge was put through using a Visa.

As soon as I got off the phone I started checking on what this bargain kit really entailed and began feeling that I had just experienced a bait and switch. The camera and lens were much cheaper than my original order and I was being sent (supposedly) $299 pro filters,a $250 pro memory card and a pro battery/charger. When I tried to check on these exact items I could not because I was never sent an itemized copy of the $1399 camera kit purchase -- not mailed nor emailed. Neither was there any record of my purchase in my account on the Total Pro Digital website.

Red flags were flying everywhere.

TPD website states Internet customers must contact TPD "BY PHONE ONLY". But phone calls do not provide written proof or confirmation of any transaction. The more I thought about these things, the more I felt uncomfortable having purchased anything from TPD.

By the time the shipment arrived (one week), I decided not to open it. I brought the unopened package to the local UPS store for return shipment and used the same method as was shipped to me -- UPS 5 - 7days ground, $18.95. It was shipped from Brooklyn. (from what I understand in other complaints they used to work out of New Jersey)

I sent TDP an email explaining my refusal of the package and their lack of professionalism. I also informed my credit card company of the situation and the returned package. Visa put the purchase in dispute and will investigate.

Now, after reading other buyer's experiences with TPD, I see the pattern (and same thing with Primo Cameras).

Thanks to all of you other buyers for posting your 'shady' experiences. Hopefully we'll be able to stop others from using these sites.

"THIS PLACE IS A SCAM.
My original purchased was T2i body + 28-135mm lens for less than 1000.0. The next day I got an email from them and said I need to call them regarding about my purchased. So I called them and the rep named Dave answered the called. He said the lens that I ordered with this body is not a good combination, it is actually will not provide an optimal lighting, and he suggested to go with 18-55mm lens(which the one come as a kit.) So I asked him what is the different between this lens and the one that came with the kit? He said this one is the new lens and give you more light comparing to the kit lens. He told me to go to totalprodigital dot com and search for item number 172A, and I did and it shows $649.00. I believed him and ordered for $1330.00. A week later I got the item and it turned out to be the same lens as kit lens but I paid $400 bucks above the market priced. I called them back to dispute my ordered but they said this sell is final. This place is a scam place, DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. I learn it from the hard way.

"I did not order anything or even deal with this company but they sound exactly like Sky Point Digital. Heres a suggestion. Look up the attorney general for the state this company is operating out of and then use the search engine for consumer fraud form. They will investigate these claims and mediate to resolve the issue on your behalf. We need to put these people out of business and preferably in jail for scamming us."

"This company is BY FAR THE WORST. I will never do business w/ this co. again. They are masters at the bait & switch. List one price & all of a sudden they forgot to charge for this...forgot that....forgot another fee. What a bunch of fools. They try to nab your wallet for hundreds more & have no idea about the product (as evidenced by the salesman telling you that the product that comes w/ the camera is basically "junk". They tried to sell me a battery for my dslr at $170. The company manufactured battery (exactly the same) is $40. Never use this company unless you have alot of disposable income....real disposable. FOOLS!"

"UPDATE 3/17/10
I filed a complaint with the BBB of New Jersey, see below for response;
Business Name: Totalprodigital

Thank you for contacting BBB about your dispute. We have attempted to contact the company at the following address:

Totalprodigital
1414 Roller Rd
Ocean, NJ 07712-3427

We regret to inform you the mail we sent to the business was returned as UNDELIVERABLE or they are no longer in business.

Well they are still in business. I finally was able to speak with a "supervisor" and settled on crediting me back $300. With the merchandise worth a little more than $100 I am still out about $100 but I guess I can consider this a lesson learned. I did file a claim with my bank as well since I used my ATM and they actually re-deposited the funds in question of $499.98 while they investigated. However, if they could not come up with a decision in my favor I would have been out the entire amount and didn't want to take that chance. The $300 did show back up in my account but I had to yell and scream at this person which I really didn't feel bad about. Again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

What a scam this place is. I started out by ordering a Nikon D5000 and placed the order on their website. Received a call 2 days later and spoke to a rep named Alex, he actually talked me out of the D5000 and now I know why after reading several complaints and reviews on this place, THEY DO NOT STOCK THEM! He actually tried to talk me in to buying the battery of the D5000 for 149.00 before I decided not to purchase it, really, the battery doesn't come with it? Please. I did end up purchasing a 2X teleconverter for my Nikon 200mm telephoto, all this time thinking I was purchasing a Nikon product and also went with some filters that I didn't have which he claimed retailed for 149.00 but would give me a deal. All told I spent 499.98 for these two items. Low and behold they arrive in a UPS envelope no less not a box. What was in the package was a Digital Concepts 2x teleconverter for Nikon SLR, price on the internet for this lens, around 80.00, the filters, hmmm, found them for 11.00. Called to get an RMA, no such luck, was transferred to vmail, emailed for an RMA as well, no such luck, received mailer daemons from the email on their website, ****@**** and from the invoice, ****@****. I filed a claim with my bank and a complaint with the BBB of New Jersey, avoid this place at all costs PLEASE!

"READ THIS FIRST BEFORE ORDERING SHAM, LIARS, crooks!!
I spent a week back and forth with these guys on the phone catching them in every lie in the book. They have below cost prices on a few products to lure you in, then they won't sell them to you unless you add a package that is so overpriced that they more than make up the difference, with the total cost far above any retail price on the web! When I told them I only wanted a camcorder and not anything else, they became rude and unprofesional. They took the order and then sent me an email to call needing more info. They told me I was buying a camcorder without a battery or cords or anything but it was new? When I said OK I will take it anyway they tried to cut mr off and hang up on me. I said NO I still want the camera and then they told me it was out of stock! They told me they would keep my order and send it when it came in. I called to reorder(under another name)and was told it was in stock (liars). When I checked my account with them, it had been canceled, so I called them and asked what gives? The salesperson says Oh, your order was canceled and I said NO,I didn't cancel, I told them to put it through when it came in! Then he changed his tune and said Oh it is on back order and they would notify me by email. Totalpro LIARS!

They even post their own positive feedback on their web site and sites like this!! Do you see any ratings between the lowest and the highest on this site? They aren't even smart enought to write there own review that is beliveable!!

" My wife ordered a Nikon D5000 from this company Total Pro Digital. The sales guy Kevin Glass or so he says, spent a lot of time on the phone with my wife. He sold her the D5000. My told me this and check the reviews on line. After reading these reviews I called them and spoke to this guy Kevin. When I inquired about where the company was located he started to tell me about his warehouse. I asked him where he was and he reluctantly gave me the address of 1414 Roller Rd. Ocean, NJ. (A Bing search shows an open field for the address.) He also told me my items already shipped. I told Kevin I read the reviews and they didn’t look to favorable for his company, I specifically mentioned unauthorized charges to customers credit card. I told Kevin that if there where any other charges to my wife’s card he would have to answer for them. At this point Kevin (who is in customer service/sales) begins to yell at me and asks if I’m threatening him likes some kind of “Gumba”. (I term he learned in customer service training no doubt). When I advised him I have no desire to go to Ocean, NJ to beat him up like a “Gumba” that I would use the legal system in my state to deal with him and reminded Kevin that I was the customer. Kevin then assured me that there would be no other charges on my Credit Card and that I would get the merchandise I ordered to include a better zoom lens then the Nikon. He then went onto tell me that all the bad reviews where from his competitors and his customer service skills are second to none. At this point I realized I was dealing with a person who cared more about trying to intimidate then trying to help me. I again tell Kevin that I will be watching my credit card statements and checking the items in the box to make sure it was what my wife ordered.

Well two days later the box arrived. The lens that was in the box was not a better lens. So I called Kevin again. I explained to him that I felt he took advantage of my wife’s lack of knowledge of camera equipment. Kevin tried to tell me the Sigma lens was better then the Nikon lens but his explanation went nowhere. When he finally came around and admitted the lens wasn’t as good he change is story to the camera body. He told me I got the USA model (thank god because that is where I ordered it and strangely enough the same country I live in.) What the whole thing equates to is that my wife was charge about $400.00 for the battery, which Kevin told me does not come with the USA camera. I found this hard to believe because I have never bought a camera that did not include the battery. When I pressed Kevin on this he changed the subject to the body of camera again. When I asked Kevin about returning the camera he told me there would be a 10% restocking fee. I told Kevin that’s fine I can dispute that with my Credit Card company. Kevin then told me that it wouldn't matter because they would believe him because he does, get this, $500,000,000.00 in business with the credit card companies a year. That’s right, five hundred million dollars a year. As far as I know they are not even on the stock market. At this point it was about all the BS I could take from the guy and ended my call with him.

I have never in my life been treated so bad by either a sale person or a customer service rep. DO NOT, I REPETE, DO NOT, BUY ANTHING FROM THE COMPANEY. Even if you are a Gumba

"I ordered a camcorder at an unbelievable price (and that's just what it was) from these guys on 27 Nov 09. I just wanted the camcorder and not any of there accessory paskages available for 100s of dollars more. Later that day I recieved the following message:

"This email is in regards to order number ****, which was recently placed with us.

One or more of the items you have ordered has become unexpectedly backordered. Since we do not have an exact date of arrival for your products, your order has been canceled."

Their website never said anything about the camcorder being out of stock and three days later it was repriced $30 dollars higher.

I sent an e-mail to their order department that went unanswered.

Bottom line: If it sounds to go to be true it probably is. Be very careful ordering from these guys. I don't think they ever had any intention of selling the camcorder at the advertised price and probably won't honor the price they have posted now.

I reordered the camera on Amazon for $150 more but at least I know I won't get ripped off.

"BUYERS BEWARE!!!! This is a scam site!

I ordered a digital camera package on December 2 2009 over the phone. I only wanted the camera, which was a Canon EOS 7D with battery and charger (priced at 1,129.00 on their web site). I spoke with a man named Nate and he quickly upsold me a "special package" that was supposed to include a brand new lens, 2 flash cards (which he said were 394 speed), aluminum camera case, 5 hour rechargeable battery, 72 mm three piece filter kit, lens care and maintenance package, LCD screen protectors and a three year factory warranty.

The deal he described seemed fair at $3799.99 so I authorized the sale. After I got off the phone with him I researched the items in the package and found that the memory chips he described did not exist. So I called them back and spoke to Brad Jennings and asked for the brand and model number of the memory chip and he told me it was Lexar 394 speed. I did an internet search for that chip while he was still on the line and when nothing came up his answer was that "Lexar doesn't advertise all their fastest chips". I also inquired about the lens (supposedly a NEW 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM) which he quoted being valued at $999.00 - $1499.00 and I searched for that item as well (while he was still on the phone) and found it on the manufacturers web site for MSRP of $800.00 and on multiple web sites for $529.00. His response was that this lens was a "NEW" version of what I was looking at and that the manufacturer has over 1000 lenses and that I can't expect them to put them all up on their site. Then I said "I would like to cancel the order". And he said: "It's too late, the order has been processed". My wife then got on the phone and told him that he was a scammer and that we would refuse the package. Then he said: "If you refuse it, you'll have to pay a 17% restocking fee. Why don't you just wait for the package and I personally promise that you will be satisfied or else you can return the package at no charge". My name is Brad Jennings, if you are unsatisfied with ANYTHING just call be at ***-***-**** x 7601". My wife clarified the FREE RETURN and he confirmed.

We received the package yesterday December 10, 2009. The ONLY thing in the box that he promised was the camera - all of the other items were cheap versions of what he promised. There was no itemized list of the order. When I priced the items in the box - based on prices from their web site (which are higher than all the other camera sites) - the total should have been $2,145.47 not $3,799.99. So I called Brad Jennings and complained that I didn't get what he promised me and that I was overcharged for what I did get. He said: Sorry but if you want to return it you'll have to pay a %17 restocking fee ($645.99) via cashiers check. I reminded him that he promised us a free return and he said: "No, I said I would give you free return shipping". We argued back and forth and I gave up and called VISA to file a complaint.

These guys just wanted us to accept the package so that it would be hard to return.

BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

Any reputable online store will do the following:

1. Send a confirmation email with an itemized list of goods and prices.

2. Cancel the order within an hour of placing it.

3. Actually send the items they promise.

4. Make a resonable attempt to resolve a dispute.

5. Offer a resonable return policy.

"Total Pro Digital (totalprodigital.com)
After an order is placed with this company they usually call you to get you to modify your order. Upsell, out of stock, long time to place your order because it is coming from overseas. They will do anything to get you to change your order to something more expensive.

"The order process quickly sent an order confirmation. Three days later I receive an email from Totalprodigital.com indicating that they need additional information to process my order, please call.

I called and they asked for the number on the back of my credit card which I gave them. Then the attempted bait and switch. Customers have been returning this item, how about this one? I declined to switch. Then the sales for additional items they had on sale. I declined that also.

After a week with no shipping or status updates, I sent two emails requesting an order status. No replies. On the 11th day I canceled the order.

I doubt they ever had the item advertized at the low cost found through a Google search and listed under Redlabeldeals.com

My credit card was not billed and I have placed a new order through Amazon.com for $63 more.

The item was for a Canon 580EX II Flash. I will never use this company again and buyer beware.

"I strongly recommend that you reconsider your purchase. I attempted to purchase a Canon 7D DSLR Camera. I received a telephone call the day after placing the order requesting that I provide the security code on the back of the credit card. I refused to provide the information. The phone number was registered to a High Point Cameras. When I called back to the number, the representative indicated he was not aware of Total Pro Digital and that he did not have any information about my Order. Like the person above, I recommend researching the Company before providing any credit card information. "

"Beware! I believe this company is a scam. I purchased a camcorder but afterwards began to feel wary. When I tried to call the customer service number to cancel my order....disconnected. When I sent them an email to their customer service email address they gave.....email returned (address not valid). This does not seem to be a legitimate company. Don't risk your identity with these guys!"
