"POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Will never purchase from Toshiba Direct again - will go with a staples or best buy and get superior service.

Accidently ordered a laptop with keypad when I meant to get one without. New in box Toshiba wants 15% restocking fee for a brand new, stickers on, laptop the day I ordered it. Said it was customized - just the basic 750 from their website.

"I will give you the honest truth so dont say no one told you about it or that you didnt think Toshibas qualily was so poor because it is along with worse customer service. I own 5, yes 5 Toshiba laptops. They were being built elsewhere but like most major companies trying to save the all mighty dollar, they are now being built in China in a seemingly production line type of assembly with seemingly cheap components. I bought a brand new laptop from Toshiba direct. Took it out of the box, it made a squeeling noise from the motherboard area every time the cpu had to work. They exchanged it. Got it in the mail. Same noise same thing. The first was sent from China, the second from CA. I got conflicting reports as to why but assumed the second was a reconditioned unit or even my 1st one resent back to me. I say this because in talking to their corporate rep, she said if the engeneering department doesnt find nothing wrong wiith it, they would just resend the unit back to me. I was sent a 3rd machine, from China, and it not only made the same squeeling noise but had a huge dark rainbow halo over the whole screen. After calling to report these defects this time they said they would only issue a refund, no more exchanges. Well if I wanted to pay 600 plus dollars for a similar machine, I would have walked into Best Buy 5 minutes away and got it but took advantage of their pre Christmas sale and got what I thought was a deal. I have waited 2 full months for machine exchanges, at least 20 hours in dealing with their customer reps, and still no properly working machine, dead end not budging people telling me youre done. Nice policy. I was left with a take it or leave it we arent making it right attitude and a final voice from Claudia at corporate (she really was clueless as she thought I bout it at a store somewhere after telling her I bought it from Toshiba direct and acting/sounding like she was not coherent) telling me to send it to their engineering department. If they cannot fix it, it will be sent back to me broken and no refund will be given! Yes thats right! REFUND Off the table only after 4 days of receiving it.. WTF??? Thats not fixing the problem, thats an ultimatum. Really? Take it or leave it? I would leave it in a second but for seemingly the same components/setup, I would need to spend almost double what I paid for it, its why I ordered it in the first place and wanted them to hold up to their so called standards. 2 months later, lotsoheadaches, poor customer service, and still no machine and still going to have to pay double for one. A nice fun experience from a company I use to trust. Never ever again! I hope they go down faster than the titanic and I do see many other companies now passing old reliable Toshiba for laptops in reviews. Like they say, you dig your own hole, now lay in it. Toshiba, after that experience, I hope its sooner than later, youre running it into the ground...seemingly chasing the almighty dollar instead of quality. Luckily I paid with the right CC and their warranty will bail me out if needed so be wise, if youre going to purchase Toshiba, or be wiser and dont from them at all. "

"In April 2011 I purchased a new Toshiba Canvio 500GB external USB drive. This drive failed after about 2 months of light use. I used Toshiba's Acclaim system to return the defective drive. They gave me a coupon to be used on ToshibaDirect.com to buy a replacement. I ordered a new Canvio USB drive from ToshibaDirect using the refund coupon. The drive arrived DOA. I returned it to ToshibaDirect using their RMA procedure. AFter more than a month and over a dozen phone calls to ToshibaDirect.com and Toshiba Acclaim, I have received an $8 refund of my shipping. No money back and no replacement drive. I will never ever buy another Toshiba hard drive, nor will I ever buy again from ToshibaDirect.com. The only thing worse than the quality of their hard disks is the quality of their customer service. You have been warned. If you choose to do business with ToshibaDirect good luck to you."

"horrible! avoid this reseller at all costs! They charged my card twice and sent me an extra laptop and told me i had to wait 10 days to get the $1300 back that they stole from me! buy anywhere else. pay more if you need to, you will regret buying from them"

"I have never dealt with an online service that was so poorly run and rude to their customers. I would comment on the electronics but I never actually received it. After purchasing a laptop online and waiting and waiting for it to be delivered, I finally received an email stating that the shipping of my order had been delayed due to high demand. I went online to check the status and it didn’t have one so I emailed Customer Service back that day. I received an email the following day telling me that the verification department could not confirm my order over the phone and promptly cancelled my order that morning – 15 days after they called my home once and left a message with a child (it was even in their notes that they left a message with a child).

I called Customer Service and was told I could re-order the laptop at a price that was 20% more than what I had paid. Basically it felt like a classic bait and switch and I was the fool. Not only was the manager of Customer Service unbelievably rude to me, he also told me that although I emailed them to confirm my order their verification team doesn’t read emails and therefore it was my fault. He also told me that all online purchases (throughout the ENTIRE internet) are confirmed via phone. Oddly this was the first time in hundreds of purchases that has ever been the case with me.

I would not use this site ever again for a purchase. If you ever want to purchase a Toshiba laptop (which are actually pretty decent) I recommend driving to the nearest Best Buy.

"BEWARE. I would avoid this reseller at all costs. Keep looking. On CyberMonday, I ordered a netbook computer, Model NB255-N245. After receiving a confirmation that my order was accepted and was shipped - I recieved another notice that unfortunately, they did not have enough to fulfill my order and it will be cancelled. Now, this does happen, what I did not accept was them to send this notice to over 100 other emails. Then, they send a notice saying how they value my privacy and take pride in ensuring it is protected -- again sent to over 100 email addesses. And by the way, this email included a comment from another customer, not me. So, if you don't care if you ever receive the product or care about your privacy -- go ahead and use Toshiba Direct. If you do value your privacy and actually want to recieve what you order - I would keep looking."

"I purchased a Toshiba Satellite with extra memory, a keyboard, and a Wireless Dyna Dock from Toshiba Direct. My Satellite crashed 30 days later. The Wireless Dyna Dock does not work right. They will not let me exchange it or return it. Watch out, they only have a 15 day return policy even if their equipment doesn't work. A manager would not call me back or answer my questions. The absolute worst company I have every dealt with. I was sent around in circles on the phone all day. I will always buy from Best Buy from now on! "

"I ordered a laptop from Toshiba direct on June 16, 2010 and received an order confirmation the follwing day. I received some accessories that I had ordered within about one week. On June 28th I checked my laptop order status and it was listed to be shipped on July 1. When I checked the status on the 5th of July, the ship date had been changed to July 31!!I have written two emails to their customer service with no responses to my inquirey about when I would expect my laptop to be shipped. Today is July 19th (33 days after my order confirmation) and the online status is now relisted as July 31. I did finally receive an email response from customer service which indicated that the ship date was July 31, but it could be before that date or after!! So from my bad experience---- my advice to anyone needing a new laptop within a reasonable time---DON'T use Toshiba Direct. They have really not responded to my expectations/concerns and I am awaiting my new (much needed) laptop for over a month after placing the order!!

"Purchased a computer from their outlet center, look for the "Shop the Outlet Center" link on their main store site. Refurbished computer was well described and in perfect condition with documentation and all expected accessories. Shipped double boxed with appropriate packing. Saved a few hundred. Will shop from their outlet center again."
