BEWARE!

"BEWARE OF ORDERING FROM THIS COMPANY!

I carefully measured a t-shirt I already owned and placed my order accordingly. That's why I was so surprised when I received my t (a day late) and it looked like a tent on me. The measurements listed on their website are not accurate. The shirt I received is almost 3 inches wider than listed on their website. Three inches is a big deal when it comes to clothing sizes!

I tried emailing them from 2 different accounts but the emails bounced back as blocked for some reason. I then reached out via Facebook where I received a response from someone named Callie.

Callie initially refused my request for a full refund, saying that I'd have to pay for the shipping both to and from me. I argued with her telling her that I should not be responsible for paying for shipping on an item that is not as described by her site. She still insisted that I pay the shipping to return it to them.

Since I can't get Brooklyn Backroom/Thug Life to do what's right, I have decided to dispute their charge via my credit card company.

Also, be warned that the quality of the t shirt itself is very poor. Its thin and actually somewhat see-through, which is surprising for a dark grey shirt. It's nowhere near worth the $30 you'll have to pay for it.

Understanding

"I am an out of state college student, and ordered a shirt for my roommate as a gift. I sent the shirt to my parents' house and came home months later to find the shirt was much smaller than expected. I was well over the 30-day exchange/return period, but emailed them anyway and explained my situation. They let me exchange the shirt and were very understanding. I'll be ordering from them again. :)"

Slow shipping and terrible quality.

"I've purchased probably 10 of these shirts over the years hoping the quality will improve, alas it does not. I am used to the ridiculously slow shipping by now, but every shirt I've ever purchased has lost the ink by the second wash. So unfortunate because they are funny, but faaaaaar too expensive to be such crappy quality. I emailed to complain and they offered $5 towards a new one. Gee thanks. Never again. "

Customer Service ain't no thugs!

"Rivs in CS helped me exchange a shirt I ordered for my wife. They explained the different sizes and how they fit based on what style of shirt and made the process pleasant and quick. Will for sure order from them again.

My wife also loved the shirt, great quality.

Bad at forst, but made right

"They have cute designs for shirts and are funny. When I ordered two shirts from this company, I never received them. It was a while before the issue was resolved, but was resolved.
I am editing my review because I was asked to by a customer service representative from the company. Originally I have them a review of one star (before the issue was resolved). Now a 4 since it was resolved.

"I ordered a "wavy hair don't care" tshirt in a large and it fit very small (I usually wear a medium) I emailed the company ,explaining it was way too small and RIVS responded to me very quick and resolved my problem by exchanging for another size , no problem ... Thanks so much ... "

"I recently ordered a hoodie from Thug Life Shirts after seeing their products on Pinterest numerous times. I ordered it with express shipping and I promptly got an email from a staff member, Rivs, saying they were out of a particular hoodie style until the following Tuesday, but they would be happy to ship me the same product on a different shirt style. I opted to wait for the inventory restock and decided to switch to standard shipping to save money. TLS managed to ship my hoodie to me within three days and I am so happy with it! The quality and sizing was perfect, and the customer service was beyond helpful. I would recommend this company to anyone and I will definitely be shopping there again! "

"I ordered a shirt for my roommate for Xmas, and paid and extra $10 for two day shipping. The shirt was XL...maybe for a CHILD. I ordered a women's size, and it could not have been more ridiculous. I emailed them about exchanging, and it started off fine- I got a response within 24 hours. But when I asked about the shipping to return it, since I had already paid extra to get it quickly, the tone turned immediately. The chick I was corresponding with got defensive and said they don't cover shipping for exchanges, which I think is horseshit, so I told her I'd just be returning it. She responded sarcastically and said she's not paying for shipping for me and they would only be accepting it IF it was unworn and unwashed. My roomie couldn't fit her left boob in that child sized shirt. I shipped it back, we'll see how the refund process goes. I'm sure I'll post another review about how crappy that is handled as well! "

"I'm very surprised to see such negative reviews on this company. I almost suspect that there is some confusion with a company bearing a similar name.

I've ordered three times over the past year from thuglifeshirts.com. The first time was a straightforward online order. Browsing, checkout & payment were simple, shipping costs are fair, and my package was received quickly, with no incident.

The last two times I've ordered, I had questions regarding sizing and shipping, and I reached out through Thug Life's Facebook page, and via email. Both times, my Facebook inquiries were answered almost instantly (in under a half-hour). Most recently, I sent the message at 3 AM local time, and was shocked when somebody messaged me back. I sent an email at the same time (assuming nobody would be available to answer my question about our on Facebook) and it was answered first thing the next morning.

Both the Facebook representative, and Molly B, who answered my question via email, were extremely helpful. They were very accommodating when it came to shipping my packages in time for me to receive them for special events, and even assisted me in ordering a product that I'd enquirered about that hasn't launched yet.

I love the minimal aesthetic that Thug Life uses in their designs. The shirts themselves are high quality (The shirt purchased for my husband for Father's Day is worn & washed at least once weekly, but has shown no shrinkage, pilling, or fading), but it is the customer service that wowed me enough to prompt me to write this review.

If you're thinking of ordering from this company, I would urge you not to let the previous reviews discourage you. I truly have to imagine that they were left with another company in mind, as the several experiences I've had with the company have been completely the opposite of those reviewed here.

"Just like everyone else on this website, I ordered from them and have been terribly disappointed. I got a shirt for my sister for Christmas, and didn't receive the shirt until a couple weeks after. So for my husbands birthday, I tried ordering him a shirt early so I would have it. I ordered it 1/16/15 and today (2/20/15) I still have not received it and his birthday is in 10 days. I wrote an e-mail stating that if it does not get shipped TODAY I will be calling authorities. The owner of this company should be ashamed."

"Totally agree with the last reviewer. Ordered a shirt in Jan., and asked several times for an update on ETA / tracking number, etc. Finally after 3+ weeks of no response, I contacted my credit card company for a refund / to stop payment, and told them I was doing so. Only THEN, did they reply -- citing small staff and their disclaimer on their website (which is contradictory to their disclaimer that comes via email). Terrible company, terrible practices, and I didn't even get the product but I can only imagine their little operation churns out crappy products, too."

"WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Ordered in November and received the order in January. Also, it was totally different to what I ordered. Cheap and totally different. Contacted them, but never received a response. Had to file dispute through PayPal and finally they responded, they told me to send it back and they would refund. Three weeks later NO refund. PayPal refunded my order themselves. Please don't deal with this company. They are the worst!"
