"Oh my, where do I start? This has got to be one of the most unprofessional online retailers I've had the displeasure of dealing with. The Nut Factory sells nuts, crackers and other assorted food items. My relationship with them as a customer goes back several years.

I have placed several orders with them over the years and almost every time there would be an issue with my order. One time I received a stale batch of crackers. But they did send me a fresher batch afterwards.

They have also sent the wrong item several times. Each time I called I would have trouble getting the person to understand what I was supposed to receive. Apparently, there is a product code error with one of the food items on their website that causes them to send the wrong item than what is pictured on their site. And they would never fix it. This last time it happened, a woman I spoke to on the phone wasn't very helpful. She seemed disinterested with my particular situation and said they would look into the problem. Yet no offer was made to send me the item I was supposed to get.

I eventually fired of an email to the owner of the company because I was getting tired and wary of continuous problems with my orders. After a few email exchanges where, admittedly, I expressed my displeasure because they would still not offer to send me the correct item that I ordered, I received the following response from the owner:

"Subject: discontinued forever

I have reviewed your way of handling a very simple issue and how vicious you were in reporting to someone? in the world of 7 billion people just how badly we performed.

You could easily have called since we still answer all phone calls immediately with a real person....

So I will discontinue all these crackers forever and go on with making over 200 excellent products which we ship to 800 firms nationwide - which is what we really should focus on.

We have been producing food items since 1952 and enjoy extremely high public enjoyment.

It is people like you that will bury small firms - leaving this world to Costco, Fred Meyers, Traders Jo, etc.

I hope you understand you directly affect all small businesses when you publish anything derogatory. It takes only one to spoil for all.... "

Just WOW! This has got to be one of the most disturbing and bizarre responses I have ever received...and from the owner of the company! I was repeatedly wronged by this company...and they make me out to be the bad guy. Notice he asserts that I am responsible for the failures of small businesses like his. Yet, he is seemingly oblivious to his own company's incompetence which would certainly be more responsible for any failure than I would be.

After this experience, I would definitely NOT recommend shopping at The Nut Factory. There are obvious problems with their ordering process. I have had more problems with orders, than not. Their customer service is nil. And it is my personal opinion that any owner of a company who views customers as a detriment to their future, well, has mental issues. We usually just ordered their crackers. But this last time we also ordered nuts, and they weren't really that good anyway. We ended up throwing the rest out.

If you've never heard of The Nut Factory it's probably because they are way down the search index on Google. I did a search for "nuts online" and after ten pages I still couldn't find them. They have a store front on Amazon.com but there is not much purchase activity there. And the few people who bothered to publish reviews of their purchase from them were mixed. One review stated that their walnuts arrived with a white stain on them and had a chemical taste to them and they would not purchase from The Nut Factory again.
