"SCAM ARTISTS!

Tried to buy an expensive camera lens ($1200). Was told it was out of stock, and was offered a "better" (aka cheaper) lens instead for the same price. Mom, without knowing said ok anyway, and so we were ripped off $400. They also said the original one was the international one, instead of the American one which sells for more; although that was just part of their scam as well.

When calling to complain, they tried to offer me money back! instead of doing a refund. $200 back, for a $400 scam... I said no and proceeded to fill out a RMA. The billing department did not even process the RMA for two weeks, and when they did; the still ripped me off $150.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM - EVER!

"After I placed the order on the computer, got an e-mail one day later to call and finalize the sale. They wanted to sell me everthing with the Cannon G7 that I didnt want. When I said NO to all of the extras - warranty - extra memory cards - add on lenses, I said NO...they then say "will you be satisfied with the chinees interface and language menu and manual...NO, I then said cancel the order..in a mico-second the cancel order came through an e-mail...They never wanted to sell me just the camera at way below anyones elses price, not with out banging you for all the rest they wanted you to buy, which was highly marked up prices and were the TRUE profit in the sale comes from....cheap trick! "

"At the recommendation of a professional photographer, I purchased my daughter's new Canon 30D camera and lenses from FotoConnection.com. I would never, never, ever purchase anything from them again or recommend them to anyone. Here's why:

After placing the order online, I received a telephone call from FotoConnection. It was the sales manager, and he had some tremendous deals for me! Why, I needed all sorts of accessories and other equipment! He offered to UPGRADE my Canon lenses to the far superior Sigma "digital-quality" lenses for free! He offered to trade the 18-55mm lens that came with the camera for a second battery. What a deal! Then he informed me that the prices on their web site included mail-in rebates in the amount of $280. So the actual amount on my credit card would be $280 more.

When the equipment arrived, the filters, which I buy to protect expensive lenses, were Mercury brand instead of the Crystal Optics brand I had specified, and one of the lenses did not have the Canon warranty card in the box, which is necessary to send in for the rebate. I suppose they had already sent in to keep the rebate money.

Two hours on the phone with them, and they can't even understand the issues I have with them.

"I ordered the PIONEER VSX-816S 7.1 (S for Silver) stereo receiver from “The New Connection.com”. The following day I was called by “Ed” to “confirm” my order. In this confirmation process, I was told that if the receiver were to arrive in ill condition that there would not be any warranty covering the purchase and that I need to purchase The New Connection’s extended 2 year warranty for $79.99. I was caught off guard by this and felt forced into purchasing this extended warranty and therefore made a quick decision to do so. When the purchase arrived several weeks later, what I received was the PIONEER VSX-816K 7.1 (K for Black) & the extended warranty envelope. I immediately requested a Return Merchandise Authorization number from the company. I then repackaged and returned the shipment exactly as it was sent to me including the extended warranty.

Finally, several weeks later and after several emails requesting status of my return, I was issued a refund for $219.00. This falls $141.39 short from the total cost of the purchase:

[$219.00 (receiver) + $79.99 (warranty) + $29.99 (Shipping) + $31.41 (Return Shipping)]

= $328.98

After several emails persisting that I receive the remainder of my refund, I was told that the receiver arrived without the warranty and therefore they were not going to issue a refund for this. They also claimed it is not their policy to refund shipping and handling costs.

This is obviously a fraudulent "bait and switch" company. If you do a search for "pioneer receiver" on their website, you will only see a Silver one (the one I ordered) & not a Black one (the one they sent). I am now out $141.39 and I have nothing to show for it. These are crooks, plain and simple.

"As described in other reviews, I received the "confirmation" call where the saleman tried to get me to buy a lot of extras of the camera I ordered. I informed him that I already had everything I needed. I had already purchased a memory card and extra batteries. He then asked if I wanted a warranty. I said, "It doesn't come with a warranty?". He said no. It would cost another $30. I checked on his website and it said the camera came with a USA warranty. He then changed his story and said it came with a warranty with TheNewConnection, but not with the manufacturer.

I told him to cancel the order. He did not understand. I slowly told him to cancel the order and that I would not deal with a company who pressure sells and does the bait and switch. He then lowered the price to less than I originally ordered with the manufacturer warranty.

By this time, I did not care about price. I definitedly did NOT want to deal with this company. If he had just left the deal as I ordered it, he would have received $10 more than he was offering me now.

If you like misrepresentation, pressure sales, and the bait and switch, order from these people. If you want to be treated like a valued customer and get what you ordered, RUN AWAY.

Their tactics are a deceptive trade practice and violated the Federal Trade Act. It is against the law what this company does.

"Please DO NOT buy anything from thenewconnection.com (a.k.a fotoconnection.com).

I purchased a canon powershot SD 40, first they complained that my billing was wrong and when I called them, they sold me an addition item. They shipped the wrong color (on the invoice it listed clearly what was the color I ordered). I called them and wanted to get the right one, they said I had to pay for the shipping cost, plus I had to wait for another 2 weeks to get it. I said it was clearly their mistake, if they didn't ship the wrong item, i wouldn't need to send it back. The first salesperson was very rude and impatient. He said the one that I ordered was sold out by the time they processed my order. I never received any notice regarding the item being out of stock when the website clearly stated "In stock". I called them 3 times last week to confirm billing info, they sold me an extra battery and I called them again to confirm shipment, nothing was mentioned during those conversations. I wanted to escalate it to a manager, and he transferred me to their manager, Roger. He is even worse than the first person. I said if i couldn't get it this week, I would like a full refund. He said all refund required 15% restocking fee. He only gave me option #1) I pay to ship it back, and wait for 2 weeks for a new item, option #2) I pay to ship it back, and get a refund menu 15% restocking fee, either way, I would have to pay for their mistake. He said he didn't want to spend time talking with me anymore and said I was being very unreasonable. I asked if I could talk to another manager or upper management. He said he was it. I asked him to transfer me to their complaint department and he said he was it and said he was typing it. And again very rude. He then said he didn't want to talk to me anymore and hang up on me. I called again, another person picked up and said nothing he could do and hang up on me again. I called the third time, another person - Dave, said nothing they could do, he said I was being very childish. He claimed that no manager would talk to me and everybody would keep hanging up on me if he transfer me around.

first, they denied their mistake...
second, they wouldn't settle and give the customer better option, and the customer needs to pay for their mistake
third, they were very rude
forth, they hung up on customer
fifth, they called the customer childish and said the customer was wasting their precious time (those were their exact words)

This company is just impossible.

"DON'T BUY FROM THIS SET OF RELATED COMPANIES!!! I ordered online a kit with a DSLR camera and two lenses last week and they called me one our later to try to sell me other stuff and convinced me to order more things: a) they wanted to include two UV filters, I ordered instead one polarizing filter for a given price, they sent me an inexpensive UV filter; b) they insisted that I purchase a fast speed memory card, which they said was much faster that the one I was about to order from another place; in the packaging list they listed a brand name memory card, but the included card was from a different manufacturer and of half the speed; c) they misinformed me to convince me to buy a warranty, saying that the 1 year manufacturers warranty covers only parts but no labor; d) despite the fact that they gave me individual prices for each item added to my original order, they billed everything together at a single price as a "kit", and the return and exchange instructions said that the parts of a kit cannot be returned or exchanged individually; e) when I complained by email, they responded two days later saying simply to call a phone number, and when I called to exchange the filter and the memory card, they said that the only way I can do it is by sending back everything, and then they will send it back to me as individual items. Their cheap prices are not cheap any more when you end up with things you don't want."

"AVOID AT ALL COST!!! I ordered a projector this last weekend and they called me to try to sell a bunch of other stuff so I told them to just cancel my order. I was convinced to keep the order but later found a better deal so I sent an email for them to cancel the order. They don't take cancelations over email so I called the minute they opened Monday to cancel which I was told was done and I should expect an email. I didn't get the email so I called back and asked for them to confirm the cancellation which they did and said sometimes the emails get delayed. I found I was charged anyway and they sent the projector anyway (without sending me shipping confirmation so I wouldn't get suspicious) and called back which they said I didn't cancel the order. They were incredibly rude and very unprofessional (they thought it was a big joke that they were able to ignore my cancellation and that I couldn't do anything about it). I told them I would contact my credit card and refuse the package and expected all my money back but they said they wouldn't refund the shipping. This is a common tactic among many online companies. I'm sure they tell their agents to ignore requests like mine to stick us with the high shipping charge. I refused the package and they threatened to stick me with not only the shipping charge but a "restocking fee" which they don't even mention in their policy. Just think who benefits from this type of service and you'll know who to believe. This kind of treatment of a customer is unbelieveable. Save yourself the trouble and AVOID them. Sure you may get lucky and order and get what you want but if you need to cancel your order, you will get screwed!!! You will notice that they are apart of many other sites and that's because they run such a scam that they're trying to run from their bad reputation and deny their disgusting sales tactics!"
