"This was my first time buying from TechXtend. The website was relatively easy to browse through so I easily found what I was looking for. The price was lower than all the other places I had seen so far, so I decided to give them a try. Process was not different than any good website, but it is when I contacted them for a follow-up on my order that I got really impressed. I received much better than average service from Patty, the lady who took my call, who made me feel like an important client, even though it was my first purchase, and it was for only around $25."

"Totally awful experience. Took my order and promptly confirmed same. Never got shipping confirm, so after 7 days, I called them. Seems they stopped the order because the sale price was BELOW their cost. They wanted to sell it to me at above retail, when I called. They claimed they sent me a notice that they'd stopped the transaction (entirely because they misrepresented the price and suckered me into the sale with a bogus price amount.) No notice was received or in Gmail SPAM box. Nothing received and suspect nothing sent (since their confirm came so easily and quickly.) Worthless waste of my time. Only good thing was they did not charge my account for the product. Am now buying it for $5 more than their "cost losing quote" from another supplier. With free S&H.

UPDATE: Got a call from the web merchandiser from the company. Lots of computer error and maybe human error too. Very apologetic, a glitch in the inventory computer set the wrong pricing to the order software. Certainly a reasonable issue. As for the missing email sent to notify me that the order was "on hold," no one knows where it went. But, they agree that they should followup after 2-5 days to insure that the buyer is notified and determine how to resolve the order problem (or get approval to cancel same.) So hopefully this problem will create new customer service policies to avoid similar future problems.

As an apology and means of making things right, I have received a store credit in hopes I will use it to try shopping with them again - an admirable PR policy. Sadly, this was too late to purchase my original order at the new, corrected price. And too bad that their policy wasn't just to honor the error in pricing, which would have created good will and cost them less than the credit (if ever used.)

BOTTOM LINE: The company acts to do right by customers when a problem occurs, even if a day late and in contradiction to the general retail practice of honoring orders made due to pricing error. But for that reason, yeah, I might try them again.

"The purchase was easy and the price was good. Submitting a scanned ID to confirm the academic purchase was a slight nuisance, but went smoothly and was promptly acknowledged. However, I ordered a license key to activate a downloaded trial version of Corel software that was about to expire just before a hard deadline. Confirming emails said that the license key had been emailed to me, but it had not. What I actually got was a physical DVD in the mail about a week later, with no indication of the change until I emailed for an explanation of the delay. I initially ordered the license key becuase I had an urgent deadline; had it not changed, I would have been screwed and very angry with TechXtend for substituting a different product with delayed delivery without asking me first."

"I purchased 3 software packages together from Programmer's Paradise, including DevPatner BoundsChecker ($1400) and Visual Studio 8.0, The BoundsChecker package was incompatible with the Visual Studio package, and when I contacted the salesman at Programmer's Paradise, he told me my only recourse was to purchase another BoundsChecker upgrade for another $900 (approx). I wrote his superiors to complain, and never got a response, and never got my money back I will NEVER purchase another product from this company or any other that will not stand by the products they sell."
