They treat sellers very badly

"I'm a long term seller at swap.com. Over the years they continuously take more and more and give back less and less. The staff are all the same. They demonstrate contempt for the sellers. When there is a problem, staff give the run-a-round. The staff are not trustworthy. When notified of mistakes (or downright theft), they will repeatedly deny that something wrong happened. This lack of integrity on their part destroys a sellers trust. When valuable items are priced for $3.00 and sold instantly, it gives the impression that the staff are pricing things for a tiny fraction of their value so that they can buy the item themselves or have friends of family do it for them. Also, new rules at swap.com state that swap.com has a right to take items off of their website and then give you the option to either purchase your items back for extremely high shipping costs or let them have it for what they offer... fifteen cents. If you do not respond, they take it for free. Then swap.com has the right to relist the item for sale and keep all the money. It is very hard to make any money on anything, now. Sellers have to pay high costs to ship their items to swap.com, pay for the shipping container and supplies, and pay to have what is not kept sent back. For an item they price at $3.00, the seller will only make 45 cents... after they have paid all the other fees. The swap.com staff have no respect for sellers. It is depressing to do business with these people. It is miserable to be treated so badly. Better options are ebay, facebook marketplace, craigslist, offer up, let go, poshmark, threadup, mercari and vinted. My most recent bad experience involved a gorgeous pair of women’s gloves that I sent in. These were Grandoe leather gloves with cashmere lining and real fur trim. They were in like new condition but did not have tags. This item sells for $59.95 on amazon.com and $60.00 on ebay. Swap.com listed it for $3.00, which meant that before all of my fees and costs they only gave me 45 cents for the sale. Given all of my fees and costs I lost a lot of money on the sale. I wrote at least a dozen emails and made two phone calls trying to have the situation resolved, and all I got was people lying to me, telling me that the item had been correctly priced. This is how they treated me, someone who has been doing business with them for many years. It is not right."

Please do not sell here

"I had 48 items that didn’t sell. Barely ever worn toddler clothes, name brands. No problem, however the problem lies in the options. A year later, I get 3 choices. Sell to swap - I would get less than $5. Option 2 - store credit. Option 3 - ship them back. For $28.00!!!! So.... ship them back for more than I paid to ship to them? And selling option is $5 total?!? How is that even justifiable?! Bad experience overall - some clothes I sent never got posted to my account, some clothes they sold for me weren’t even mine, and they changed policies to a crappier policy right in the middle. Then this on top of it, no thanks. My advice is to find another way to help others who could benefit from your belongings and not get ripped off in the process. "

Horrible for sellers

"Don't send items to them. They are the worst on the market. They change their terms and conditions and apply them to items received after the change, then hold your items hostage for a few to get them back. They robbed sellers from setting their own prices and now it's great for buyers because they get these ill gotten items for a cheap price. They steal from sellers. And why are there buyer reviews on a site called resellerratings? This is for resellers, not buyers. "

Long processing time, but worth the wait

"As other reviews note, the processing time is quite long (I sent my box of clothing over the summer and the items were not listed until November). The wait is, however, worth it, especially if you are trying to decide between thredUP (absolutely deplorable, see their reviews on ResellerRatings) and Swap.com.

Most of my items were accepted. I sent in a range of clothing - from Lilly Pulitzer to Urban Outfitters to Forever21. My items have been selling, and setting up my PayPal account was quick and easy. I've already cashed in over $60 for just a few items.

I still think you can probably have better luck/greater profit if you consign with local boutiques, but they tend to be a LOT more picky. At least Swap.com takes a lot of different items (provided they are in excellent condition), so it's fairly convenient and makes you feel less guilty for getting rid of the clothes you probably spent too much money on initially.

Shipped a box- took them OVER TWO months to process and then they said that 30% was unacceptable

"Do not bother sending you items into SWAP. The communication is abysmal. I sent a box in to them. It took them OVER TWO MONTHS to process the box. When my items showed up to be priced, a lot of them were missing. I then got an email that 30% of the box was rejected. These were name brand clothes from Talbots, Ann Taylor, White House/Black Market. They kept the rejected items."

“BEWARE, BEWARE, FRAUD COMPANY and FRAUD POLICIES”

"Never buy from Swap. This is a fraud company. They will send you items different from the description and then when you return it they will take the returns but will issue you refund only in the form of store credit. Beware, they are liars and they have crappy, deceiving and misleading return policy! Buy at your own risk!"

Great prices on good quality consignment clothes, 20% off your first purchase!

"I am so excited to have stumbled across Swap.com! I love shopping in consignment shops, but brick and mortar consignment shops are always hit or miss with what they actually have in the store at any given time. Swap.com is like having a gigantic consignment shop that is almost guaranteed to have whatever it is that you are looking for. I've already ordered a few work dresses, some jeans, dressy blouses and even a coat and almost everything has been under $10 for Ann Taylor, Boden, Talbots, J. Crew, Banana Republic and other quality brands that I wear. They ship things out pretty fast too, which I appreciate and returns are free, which is amazing. The description of each piece of clothing will tell you the condition of the item, which can range from "new with tags" to "fair condition." I haven't bought anything rated as "fair" condition yet, but everything I've bought that has been rated as "good" condition (the next step up), has been barely worn as far as I can tell.

** New customers can get 20% off their first purchase (no minimum purchase) plus free shipping (if your order is over $20). Just follow this link below, sign-up with Swap, and then they'll e-mail you a code for 20% off that you enter at checkout. **

You're going to get addicted to Swap just like me!
