Pulley bore incorrect!

"11/16 bore pulley. Pretty simple. The pulley bore was not even close. Guy on the phone treated me like an idiot. The pulley was no where close to the the shaft size. Had to Hone at least 5 thousandth off. I hate bad customer service. It was only ten dollars so you get what you pay for. "

Excellent products fast shipping at a great price.

"I ordered a set of log splitter wheels and tires and they are great. they were priced $100.00 cheaper than
every one else for the set of 4.80x 8 wheels
super fast shipping by ups.
I have seen other reviews that were not good but i am completely satisfied with my purchase.
Kudos to the staff for handling my order promptly and pricing it so well.

Warranty means nothing

"Bought a engine that failed. Got a return authorization. Followed the steps they asked us to and 6 months later still haven’t received a replacement. Can’t get anyone to return a email or phone call "

They dont honor warranties boasted at check out.

"Purchased a prince 20 series sectional valve, only 1 of the sections didn't work right out of the box, they told me initially to use it and and it would work after several hours of use. I called about a month later stated it still didn't work and they told me that those valves don't go bad they don't have wear parts and they wont do anything about it. Their best advice was to take it to a local shop and have it looked at. I'm kinda upset I just spent a couple thousand dollars less than 2 months ago and they literally won't even try to help me. "

Horrible Customer Service

"Horrible customer service. I made a purchase and 3 days later they tell me the item is too large to ship via truck so it must be sent freight. So then they hit me with an up charge and the shipping ends up being as much as the item! Talk about bait-and-switch! I asked the customer service rep if the size/weight of the item changed since I placed my order (obviously it didn't) and of course she had no reply. I asked if they would be willing to split the up charge of the shipping and the answer was an immediate "No". If you're going to sell something and then use your website to calculate shipping- know the specifics of the item before you do so. Otherwise don't go back and up charge the customer once they've paid for the item! "

CROSS HYDRAULIC MOTOR PURCHASE

"Purchased Cross hydraulic motor which did not work for customer. Called days after purchase, Rep gave me (2) days to provide stats in order to troubleshoot over phone/email. Didn't get the info in adequate time, they rescinded on their promise to help with situation and became jerks when I asked if they could forward to their Vendor (Cross) to look over. Bad service! Reported to credit card company to charge-back the item on my card. Will NEVER purchase from them again and I have been in hydraulic business close to 50 years without ever experiencing this! Be wary of warranty and who you deal with, sometimes they are just hard-up for sales! They literally signed off with us and no courtesy or apology provided to us whatsoever. Businesses are not what they used to be, Surplus lost us as a customer. BUYERS BE AWARE!!"

Substandard Parts

"Ordered two bearings. The bearings interrace wobbles from side to side and if anyone knows anything about bearings, they know that's not supposed to happen.

Also with this order, I purchased the Pull Solenoid. The problem is the plunger falls out the end of it. When I called for a Return Authorization number, I talked to Conrad the supervisor/manager of returns. He said that there was nothing wrong with the Solenoid, that it needed to be installed vertically. There is nothing in the catalog description about that.

I did get a Return Authorization from Conrad however, they expect me to pay for the return shipping charges. The parts are clearly defective but because Conrad refuses to enter it that way in their system, I am stuck with the burden of paying to ship them back. Why should I have to pay more money to send substandard parts back where they came from?

Hour meter part # 1-1238

"Bought an hour meter on 10/01/18. after talking to two different people that work at Surplus Center with the second one telling me that it had this had the metal bracket on the back that holds the meter in place that I'm looking for. They sent me this piece of crape hour meter that I could have gotten off of eBay and from CHINA for a lot cheaper with free shipping. I called Surplus center customer service and was told that they would not reimburse me for shipping and that I would have to pay to ship it back to them. So now a total of $14.50 just for shipping when clearly this is there fault since they dont have staff there that can tell the difference between a metal bracket and a all one piece plastic meter. There customer service is the worst I have ever seen. So BEWARE of this company. You have been warned!!!"

Just got off the phone with a b....

"Just called for order status. Got the 5-7 day schpeel the other posters had. I asked if this was a distribution center or a warehouse. I was advised it was a warehouse. I asked why several days to pick a stock item and prep for ship. Woman asked if I wanted her supervisor and provided rude responses to my following questions.

Training with this company is the issue. It appears they have good products and broad selection. However, their employees on the phone do not understand the nature of business retention and growth. If any of the supervisory or management team reads the reviews, take one minute like I did and read through the common theme for your organization. Then, after you are educated on the problem, go and get training to be able to effectively guide your staff!

Following my first order with them, I will forever forget this company exists.

Surplus Center

"I have made many orders from Surplus Center going back for several years. I have yet to have a bad experience. I have had to deal with mistakes caused by both them and myself, including items that I just did not need for one reason or another, all were taken care of quickly and without any big problems. The only thing that I really do not like is that their stock moves so fast that if you look at something today and do not order it, when you go back it may be gone!"

"I've made two orders from Surplus Center. Made second order online on a Sunday night hoping I would receive my purchase the following Friday. Called the following Tuesday to check status of the order. I was rudely put in my place by a lady in customer service. She didn't offer to check when it was going out, just harshly reiterated to me their shipping policy and that ups could take 5-7 days. After I insisted she offered to check and see when it would ship. She called me back saying it would go out that day. Next morning ups didn't have my package in their system. Moral of the story. Products and prices are decent, customer service is pathetic, they obviously don't care when you get your order and will do nothing to expedite their ship time unless you pay outrageous 2 or 3 day shipping. Not to mention lie to you when you ask when it will ship. Bottom line if you need it fast or on a certain day, forget em. Deal with a professional company."

"Awful company. Warranty service manager was unhelpful after I told him that I would buy a second pump after they sent me a seal kit for the first. Didn't even know they had the seal kit in stock till I pointed it out to them.

Basically he just didn't want to do anything other than the bare minimum.

"Placed an order for some sprockets on Tuesday afternoon. They shipped on Weds and I received them on Friday morning which is right on par for Priority Mail. Shipping is quite expensive though. Was charged $12 for items that easily could have fit into a Small Flat Rate Box and shipped insured for $5.50."

"Ordered from them three times.

Order accuracy has been 100% all three times.

Expediency has been lacking. Same day shipping on online orders if picking standard freight is not possible. If you pick next day or secound day maybe that will light a smoldering fire under their can, I don't know. I give them a 2 out of 10 on this. Last order placed 9 am their time Friday didn't go out till MOnday. Really slow.

They charge padded freight charges. More than what the carrier charges them plus they tack on $ 2.00 S & H to every order.

BY the time you add on higher freight and S&H charges many of their smaller items are not that compelling a deal.

But some things are a much better deal. Like many online dealers its in the details and you must sift through the product offering and read the freight rates and s & H fees to see if its really worth doing.
