Shop at Whole Foods Instead!

"I am reporting an incident of prejudice that occurred at this Sprouts Store on 5/24/2016. My family had traveled from Las Vegas New Mexico to shop in Santa Fe as we have done for years. We used our Visa at Whole Foods Market and then proceeded to Sprouts for further shopping. At the check out I was told my card was rejected. Impossible I said. I tried to the annoyance of the staff to use it about three times always rejected. I asked that I please use a different machine to buy the groceries. The Latino "boss ?" lady that came over told me NO! It is your card and your bank problem! I said no I just used it and with over $8,000 in this account the problem was the chip reader at this counter PLEASE let me check out at another register. NOOOO she said write a check!! I said ok I can do that too and started writing the check. One of the other employees then started annoyingly to pack my groceries into a USED bag that I said please do not do that I have a cooler and zippered bag in the car that I would transfer the food but she just kept on stuffing my food angrily into the used bags. I said enough and started to walk away and the checker yelled I NEED YOUR CHECK!!!! I grabbed my purse and said well you are not getting it I am leaving. We quite upset went to the Newmans Nursery down the street and again used the card with no problems. I called the manager of Sprouts from Newmans parking lot and told him to fix their machine!!! He should have invited us back to get our groceries he did not. We left for home. This morning my bank ledger shows that Sprouts had CHARGED OUR VISA for the amount of the groceries we never received!!!!!! So furious of the treatment from the Latino woman "in charge" that was uncalled for and the fact the lovely groceries were left behind. My brother is from my dad's first marriage to a Latina and we have known prejudice and I know this would not have happened if I were also a Latina. My family is disgusted by these offences we have experienced and this time I decided to complain. Please train your employees to leave their prejudices outside of their work place job. I also better get back my money onto our card ASAP. What a terrible experience with Sprouts- next time ALL purchases will be to Whole Foods and we have 3 freezers we fill every fall. Fix your chip machines and your employee's personal problems."
