"Everyone always seems to write reviews only when they're unhappy about a business; I'm choosing to do the opposite.
I've had a great experience dealing with Software Empire for the last few months. I've used them multiple times already and so far I'm satisfied with product quality and customer service. Definitely love the "instant digital delivery" as I hate waiting for other to manually send me a license key in the past.

Scamming Thieves

"Nothing is legit about this company!!! I have requested intervention by my State Attorney Generals Office regarding their fraudulent business practices They don't reply to emails or answer the phone but they will most certainly sell you recycled garbage and take your money DO NOT DO BUSINESS with these people They have no morals character nor do they practice good business ethics Do yourself a favor buy from a reputable distributor and DON'T be victimized by these losers"

The Rise & Fall of an Empire - RECYCLED PRODUCT - NO FULL DISCLOSURE - You've gotta fight for your right to a refund!

"Software Empire sold me an EXPIRED license key for Window 7. They refused to honor their own "100% customer satisfaction guarantee." They continue do so, without a disclaimer on their website, despite their reassurances to the contrary.

I purchased what I believed was an original valid license key for Windows 7, as my own had expired and I wanted a new one to avoid bothering with Microsoft's automated phone system. Instead, I received an expired license key that, like my own, required the additional hassle of obtaining yet another - even longer - string of characters to enter for activation. I experiment a lot with programs and software, so I frequently perform a fresh install of the OS, and to have to include this extra step, which takes several minutes each time (waiting for the initial activation attempt to fail, then punching in the secondary string of characters, then waiting for the second attempt to succeed), wastes time that could be put to better use.

When confronted by email, Software Empire tried to deflect responsibility and, in turn, place blame on this consumer by quoting their policy that they "cannot grant returns/refunds due to orders placed by mistake, products purchased in error, or a change of mind." My issue, however, was none of the above. An original authentic license key should activate upon the first attempt, without the need for a secondary key. Their "recommendation" to use the automated phone system appears only in the email received AFTER the purchase. It should be included on the product page itself as a disclaimer. But, then, I suppose they would lose potential customers.

Finally, their homepage as well as their product pages carry the following statement under "Our Promise To You":

"Every product we sell is covered by our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee! ... If we can't make it right, we will gladly offer you a full refund of your paid purchase price!" Instead, per their email response to me, they were willing to "make an exception. But there would be a 20% restocking fee applied." Mind you, this offer was received just one day following my purchase. So much for their "100% customer satisfaction guarantee" and their "promise" of a "full refund". Evidently, they do not honor their own guarantee and conduct practices that appear dishonest at best.

Although Software Empire finally, albeit begrudgingly, issued a full refund for my purchase, they continue to sell recycled activation license keys without any disclaimer, despite their reassurances to me that they "have made a strong note to change our product listings to include a disclaimer that some products may need to be activated by telephone." As of 1/10/17, nearly two months since dealing with them, no such disclaimer appears on their website. Strong note, indeed.

Also, despite their claim that "we will be providing you with a brand new license key for Windows 7 Home Premium that should 100% work for online activation", they sent me yet another recycled license key that, again, required secondary activation by phone. So, essentially, just more lip service. When confronted with this new development, I received no response. I suppose they expected me to thank them for the second license key. Gee, thanks... for nothing.

So, I have simply returned to using my original activation license key, which still requires phone activation, but which I trust more than anything I receive from Software Empire.

I strongly advise any inquiring customers to steer clear of Software Empire, as they seem to be shady at best. And I feel duly obligated to make potential customers aware of such deceitful practices.
