"DO NOT ORDER FROM HIS MERCHANT. I ordered a laptop battery and I received a defective unit. I had to pay shipping to get the battery and pay shipping to send the defective unit back. In addition there is a chance I may have to pay a restocking fee. Its like your doing quality control on their inventory. This is a terrible business practice and it taught me a lesson, to read previous customer's reviews before I select an on-line merchant."

"I needed a replacement battery for a ThinkPad R40 but I was wary of getting an original battery because I have heard that they have a limited shelf life. I shopped the web for an aftermarket replacement and found that SimpleMicro.com had a good price. I placed my order on Sunday night and received a shipping notice on Monday. I received my battery on Tuesday and was happy to discover it was manufactured in March of this year. I replaced my dead battery with the replacement and was pleased to find that it charged without a problem and has been functioning reliably. SimpleMicro delived the part I ordered, on time, with no hassle whatsoever. I would definitely order my next replacement battery from them."

"BUYER BEWARE! I will NEVER order from this merchant again. I ordered a laptop battery from SimpleMicro's website. It was shipped promptly, but it was the wrong battery. When I contacted them to let them know that the battery they market as a fit for my laptop isn't the right one, I was told that I'd still have to pay return shipping with a delivery-notice carrier and a 15% or $20 restocking fee (they said both, so not sure which it is). I would be OK with the return shipping cost, but paying a restocking fee for an item that was clearly misadvertised on their website? Wish I'd paid more and gone to Compaq directly. At least then I'd have a battery and less frustration."

Great dealer! I WILL order from them again.

Was on a business trip to Boston. I returned to St Louis: the charger for my laptop decided to stay in Boston. Panic! I have an important grant application due later TODAY, and all my information was on this unusable laptop.

Couldn't find a real Dell charger in St Louis.
Even the Dell page estimated one to two week shipping delay!

SimpleMicro had a low price one online. Since I was using a borrowed computer, I opted to order by phone. Very nice order-taker. Although it was past their deadline for same-day shipping, she thought it would still get out.

I paid for the overnight UPS. What a bargain. It was here before 11am their time. The exact same kind of 'real' Dell charger that is still vacationing in Boston.

What a relief! Fast friendly, reasonable, authentic. Nice to know that such companies are out there.

THANK YOU SimpleMicro, and UPS, too.

"I don't usually do this, but I think the fact that my order went through perfectly should be mentioned here. I ordered an AC adapter for my ze5375us and they sent me a brand new HP OEM adapter, exactly the same model that HP recommended and sells for $20 more on their website. It came exactly on time and worked perfect! You really can't ask for more."

"I have recently placed two orders with SimpleMicro using 'Google Checkout' -- the first for a battery and AC power cord for my Dell Inspiron 2650, the second for a genuine Dell power supply .

I received a confirmation from Google for the first order at 1:14 PM on 8-15-07. Then, just over an hour and a half later, I received a second email from Google saying the order had been shipped. It was delivered the next day around Noon -- less than 24 hours after submitting my order! The battery was wrapped in an anti-static bag and placed inside it's own cardboard box with foam padding which was then placed inside some bubble wrap (along with the AC power cord I ordered) and then that bubble wrap bag was put inside another cardboard box. Very impressive!

After placing the order (about 4:40 PM) I sent an email asking some questions about the battery -- that email was answered promptly by an actual person (about 10 AM the next day) which in my experience is very unusual.

The second order was placed yesterday, 8-16-07, at about 2:45 PM. I received confirmation from Google for the order, but no email saying it was shipped, which concerned me. SimpleMicro claims that any order placed by 3 PM will ship that day, but the Google 'order shipped' confirmation didn't arrive in my Inbox until this morning at 10:15 PM. In fairness, the order was placed close to the 3 PM deadline. I haven't received it yet and assume it won't arrive until Monday since tomorrow is Saturday.

Also, at about 7:45 PM yesterday evening, I sent another email to SimpleMicro asking about the status of the second order (since I hadn't received any shipping confirmation at that point). Again they responded within a few hours -- I had a reply before Noon today.

I must admit I'm a bit concerned by some of the reviews I've read here. Several people report having multiple problems with batteries bought from SimpleMicro -- original batteries being bad as well as their replacements. In addition, although they claim to use top-quality (Grade "A") Li cells, the batteries are assembled in China. With all of the recent recalls of Chinese products and many Chinese companies being charged with breaking the law and disregarding even the most basic standard manufacturing procedures, I don't feel 100% confident that I can rely on anything that is made there. Unfortunately, many products are made exclusively in China these days. Before I searched the 'Net and contacted SimpleMicro I called Dell but they did not have any batteries for my Inspiron. If they had, I might have ordered from them (depending on the price).

When reading reviews, I try to keep in mind that people are much more likely to complain (legitimately or not) than they are to take their time to compliment a person or a company. That's just human nature -- people expect things to go well and work as advertised so when they do they generally don't report it. I'm hoping that the negative experiences I read about below are rare, and represent a fraction of a percent of the batteries sold by SimpleMicro.

In any case, I plan to test this battery thoroughly to confirm that it has it's full rated capacity of 4,400 mAH (I'm an electronics tech). So far, so good -- it came with a partial charge, the computer recognizes it, and it seems to have accepted a full charge, but so far we've been operating the Inspiron on AC power. I'll report back after I have a chance to check it out more.

Bottom line: I'm very impressed with SimpleMicro's packing, fast shipping, quick personal replies to emails, and low prices. If the battery holds up I will buy from them again.

"Quick communicaion, nicely packed, and speedily shipped. Excellent value on replacement laptop batteries for my Dell Inspiron; one generic, one Dell. Would recommend.

Update: the generic battery replacement would not reach full charge (85%); the Dell reached 100% within 2 hours.

Simle Micro offered a RMA on the generic; not really cost effective, for a $43 battery, so we will live with it. They reminded me of a 6 month warranty, if this battery fails.

Their communication on this matter has been fast and friendly.

"I had purchased a generic replacement battery for my wife's Dell C600. The first one proved efective after several months and SimpleMicro.com replaced it without question when I return shipped it. Soon the replacement began to not charge properly and it seemed the laptop was the issue. After finding and buying an external charger I determined the problem was the battery. Even though it was now out of warranty, Shane at SimpleMicro.com was willing to do another exchange. After a lengthy conversation I decided to order a genuine Dell battery through them and they discounted the price
significantly without me even asking. Problems happen in purchases of every kind and price range. What makes the difference to me is when a company
does all they can to make it right. SimpleMicro.com did just that.

"Prompt shipping, excellent warranty response. Problem is the Dell replacement batteries don't last. Ordered 2-24-06, replaced on 4-17-06, replaced again on 8-18-06. Failed again on 10-23-06. SimpleMicro refused replacement as it is beyond 6 months warranty. Had a similar problem a year and a half earlier. That warranty replacement lasted a year. Time for real Dell battery, twice the price but they are good for 2 1/2 years or so."

"Purchased notebook replacement battery, only to have it fail after three months. Emailed and advised to return for test and replacement, if warranted. Prompt service and fast replacement return. Replacement battery failed within a month However, again no hassle and fast return service. Third battery failed within six months and is, of course, now out of replacement warranty. So, I would not recommend batteries that they supply, although the service is still OK."

"I ordered a generic battery equivalent of of the F4812A/F4809A for my Presario laptop. My computer wasn't able to detect it --- doesn't know that a battery is inserted. So it wouldn't turn on with just the battery inside. The battery is supposedly fully charged. The notebook cannot even charge the battery as it cannot detect it. Note that my old battery works fine with the laptop --- it just doesn't hold as much charge as it originally did.

I ended up buying an original battery, and guess what, it works fine.

SimpleMicro said they tested it before it shipped. And they also said it works when they got it back.

Lost $10 on shipping costs with this transaction. Waste of time and money.

(In fairness to them, they did not charge me any restocking fee.)
