Recommended but proceed with caution

"SSS is great because of the array of products they offer - lots of variety, lots of exclusivity, and great reliability. However, I recommend them with caution, mainly because of their service.

It certainly doesn't help matters that they're very well connected and spoken with praise among the cardmaking gurus of the internet who constantly either review or design for SSS. They've certainly built their reputation nicely with the support of all the card making community praising them. And to a certain extent I agree that SSS offers great original, unique products and makes shopping for card crafting materials very, very easy.

My grain of salt to add to this wonderful site is that they, in return, offer relatively little in return. SSS rarely has sales, or if they do it's for ONE brand at very odd, spontaneous times, and not even for much. People have had issues with their shipping/handling speed, which is very inconsistent. Sometimes a product will say it's in stock but they'll be slow to ship out when it's in high demand. People have waited weeks for products to ship - after that UPS takes its standard 2 days, which is great, but all card crafting sites have this. Also, SSS, while great with defective items (they send you a new one), are terrible at helping with the in between stages, where you accidentally placed additional item orders and want to change it before it gets shipped. I had another experience at a different site where I was able to get this changed within minutes, whereas SSS would not help me in this case. It's a tough market, and even if SSS doesn't have to do this help, having that option elsewhere makes SSS look...worse.

So, in essence, I would recommend SSS but only after you've exhausted your other options. If you can buy at other places, do so! Try to maximize elsewhere before resorting to SSS.

Horrible Customer Service

"I placed an order at the beginning of September and it took two weeks to process and ship even though I had nothing in the order that would cause a delay (out of stock or reserved). When I received my order, an item was missing so I wrote to customer service and let them know. It took them 3 days to even get back to me. After emailing for a few days, they said they'd ship it right out. 2 weeks later (a month after I placed the order originally) and no item. I email back and then I'm told that they don't have the item and the manufacturer is on break until January, so I'm out of luck. They refunded my money for the item, but it took them a full month to get any resolution. Not just that, but I was told it was being shipped when it wasn't. Now I'm told that somehow you didn't even have the product when it was listed as in stock on your site when I ordered it. When were planning on telling me?! Was I just supposed to wait until January for you to fix your mistake?! This isn't the first time I've had an issue with Simon Says Stamp, but I can honestly say it's the last. I'm done. For good. Never again."

"I have dealt with this company a few times over the years without an issue. I am well aware of backordered items and pre-order items meaning the whole shipment will be held. Recently I placed a sizable order. This is an Ohio based company and I am an Ohio resident. 10 days later, no order. I emailed and received a reply that I had a "reserved" item on my order. I have no clue what that means and told them so. I received no explanation in her reply. I told them to please remove the item and ship my order. I was billed the day I placed the order even if shipment is held. I was then told I had to PAY 20% to take the item off even though they didn't ship it! So if they hold your order 3 months, which has already been billed, you may not cancel ANYTHING or make changes or you are charged! I don't plan on shopping there in the future. I finally received this order on 2/12/14 after paying their "fee."
Pitiful service, policies and shipping time.
