"I ordered a camera with two lens in a kit. The next day I called to change the lens I had orders for a different lens. They assured me that would be fine. Then I was asked if I wanted to purchase a battery for the camera. I knew Canon provided the battery and battery charger with their cameras. A five hour battery was going to be an additional $159.00. I was then asked if I want to upgrade my L IS lens to pro glass. This is when I relized this was a scam. I asked if he was talking about a filter such as an UV filter. He said no it was a lens upgrade that needed to be purchased for each lens, an addition $300.00. Then he asked if I wanted to order a battery charger. That when I told him to cancel both the original order and the order I was trying to change the original to. And without any comments the hung up on me. I have been monitoring my checking account to make sure the amount is not withdrawn."

"Did a google search for the camera I was shopping for and found shopdigitaldirect's link listed as a "trusted seller" on "DiduPrice." I excitedly entered my cc info and placed order for a Sony H50 listed $100 less than any any other online merchant had it for. I became suspicious when my email confirmation listed no item description or price. I immediately did a google search and read pages of horror stories about this merchant and their disreputable business practices. I attempted to call their customer service line to cancel, but it was after hours. So instead I called my debit/cc company and made them aware of the situation. I had them cancel my card and issue a new one. A $1.00 authorization had already been placed on my card.

Today I called shopdigitaldirect customer service and received an incoming call from them while waiting on hold to speak with a rep. The guy imediately references my order. I said, "Actually I was just calling you on the other line to cancel that order." Abruptly he says, "Okay we'll cancell that order then," and immediately hung up on me. After re-dialing and twenty minutes on hold listening to their lame advertising, ("We're ALWAYS looking for new ways to give you more!")... a guy picks up who sounds like he's eating lunch and I politely request confirmation of my cancellation. I tell him I was disconnected with the other rep. He asks for my order # and informs me it has been cancelled. I request a confirmation email and receive one right away which states my order was cancelled at my request and my cc has not been charged apologizing for any inconvenience. This at least gives me some peace of mind... I will retain this confirmation for my records and will continue a close watch on all transactons on my debit account. I hope I dodged a bullet with these characters and will be much more cautious in the future when ordering online from unknown merchants.

"BEWARE of Shopdigitaldirect.com!! I am writing to report a potential fraud situation with an online company called shopdigitaldirect.com. I placed an order for an Infocus IN-37 projector (an in-stock item) and got a call back that they no longer took Discover card. I re-entered an order using a different card and was again called by a different person who attempted to sell me an "upgrade" bulb. I was assured the product would ship right away and today received an email that they no longer had stock and would not receive any more for several months.

Their site still lists Discover as an acceptable payment method and the IN-37 is still "In-Stock".

This is the classic BAIT-AND-SWITCH operation and I am concerned that they have my cc number, so now I need to notify them as well. Thank you for helping warn others about these low life operators that hide behind the anonymity of the web. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SHOPDIGITALDIRECT.COM!!!

I have since discovered extensive blogs regarding this company as a "bait and switch" operation. I should have looked first and have been reminded how important it is to research before ordering.

"Same as everyone else - I ordered a Sony DSC-H50 and not 12hrs later received an email from 'Chris' that the camera was out of stock and my order was cancelled. It showed on the website it was in stock, and the add is misleading because it insinuates you get everything, but you get nothing but the camera. If you purchase everything to go with it, you pay more than if you went to Best Buy or Circuit City! Total Scam!"

"STAY AWAY FROM ShopDigitalDirect.com! They advertise products for considerably less than other merchants. You will ABSOLUTELY NOT get what you pay for. They are taking business away from reputable merchants, so I am surprised that they have not been stopped. Fortunately, I have not lost money, but rude sales people refuse to sell the product at the advertised price since I failed to pay quadruple the fair price for unnecessary accessories."

"Looks like this is a scam. Instead to charge $ 2800 they was trying to charge $ 3900 from my credit card. When I called them, the said,ok that was a mistake, they recalculate, it was finaly much less. But ,in this price they include 8% salex tax. I'm not in New York, so should be tax free...they said now is new government policy and I have to pay taxes. So , thew was trying to cheat on me !!! Customer services was talking funny to me. Worse experience ever for online shopping. Worse company.

"I purchased a Sony DCR-VX2100on Monday, July 21,2008. The next morning, when I called to confirm the order, I was told by Bernard, one of their agents, that I purchased just the body of the camcorder (although the order didn't state I was purchasing the body and the picture of the order depicted more than the body).

At any case, during this conversation, Bernard went on to try to sell the remaining components of the camcorder (lens, battery, charger, etc). Understandly upset, I asked Bernard to cancel the order. Bernard confirmed, verbally, the order was cancelled (Cancellation number not provided). I called a second time, this time another sales rep who stated he was a supervisor answered. He noticed the order wasn't cancelled, and also confirmed cancelling the order after my request to do so (again no cancellation number provided).

Believing what I was told (order was cancelled), I did not follow up until I noticed on my credit card statement a post for rougly $1400. At this time, I called them and reached another supervisor Stanley. He stated because the product was already shipped, I should wait for the package to arrive than mail it back, and only then would I receive the full refund.

I called this morning (Aug 04, 2008) and got a hold of Stanley. He was to send me a RMA number to provide to the shipping carrier. I have not received a RMA number. I've called and spoken with a couple of more reps (Loite being one of them) since then, and everytime they forward me to the voice mailbox of Bernard.

"Rip off operation. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE LOW ADVERTISED PRICE!!!. YOU WILL NOT GET THIS PRICE!!. Purchased a Sony Camcorder from them but I was told that the product did not contain a charger, which in fact is actually build into the device, I was told that the product did not have any warranty but in fact you are simply buying the regular retail version product sold anywhere else. This was pretty much what I was told about every accessory that should have been included as standard. Up selling to the extreme, they simply push the price up to what it would cost anywhere else. Buy somewhere else or you will regret it. I did not get half of the items I paid extra for. I was placed on hold with them for 45 minutes not trying to get this rectified. Finally spoke with some who instantly put me on hold again for another half hour. "

"I ordered a VPL-VW60, 900 ANSI Lumens, HD Wide-screen Home-Theater 1080p LCD Projector.
The price looked good. They first contacted me to try to sell me a 200 hour bulb for $600+, a 400 hour lamp for $900+ or a 600 hour lamp for $1100+. I told the guy that the projector should come with a lamp. He told me that for the advertised price he could not include the lamp, he cancelled the order. (It didn't say that in the ad which falsely influenced me to give them my credit card #)
In another order on 7/27/2008, I ordered (2) Garmin 660 GPS systems but they were "sold out" order was canceled by Shop Digital
This is a clear case of Bait and Switch, I have already contacted the Federal Government regarding this fraudulent internet activity.

"Over the Internet, I ordered a Canon Cam G10, listed as $350 from Shop Digital Direct. I also asked for expedited mailing, an additional $26 charge. When they had my address incomplete, I called to correct it and was informed that the camcorder did not have batteries --but could be had for an additional $129. Then Shop Direct informed me that it had no charger. I asked for the cheapest, not exceeding $40. I called to cancel when I found out that they charged $759.99 on my credit card on July 18th. I called Shop Digital Direct several times on July 21st to cancel and they informed that the product had been shipped and therefore they could not cancel. In fact, UPS shipment tracking has stated that the product was shipped on July 24th, after I informed my bank to cancel, which bank called on the 24th of July! Anyway, they do bait and switch, over charge items, make it impossible to reach anyone on their so-called 800 phone number, lie to buyers about when the product is being shipped to deny cancellations, and the FTC and DOJ should investigate them for wire-fraud, FTC regulatory violations for bait and switch. Their sales are handled in Florida, the managers in Brooklyn, and they purposely violate each and every standard procedure and rules that protect buyers from unscrupulous Internet sellers such as Shop Digital Direct.

I received the product, which the invoice described as a "Special Custom Package". Actually, it was the standard Canon HG10 box with the standard charger and battery included, stating that it was an "upgrade to retail model". They still list on their website, the HG10 for $329! But their scam is to cause the buyer to call and create the situation to charge a premium for the same product. They handcuff you by charging a restocking charge. I did the math and the lowest price from a reputable seller would cost the same if not more when including the restocking and shipping charge. I'm sure that Shop Digital Direct purposely priced it the same way.

"CLASSIC BAIT & SWITCH!

stupid low price... have to call to "confirm" order... They upsell because product has no batteries, cards or straps... your low price model will come in 4 to 8 WEEKS! If you want to upgrade to the one that ships in 4-6days(as it said on your online offer) thats not the grey market one and costs a lot more. They should be hunted down and put out of business! John

"I ordered a Nikon D80 with a Nikon 18-200mm VR. Price was terrific. Sent them my credit card info, etc., then read the reviews, er, alerts, regaring ShopDigitalDirect, BestPriceCameras and PhotoDynasty. They are all the same company. When you are "on hold" with PhotoDynasty and ShopDigitalDirect at the same time, (use cell phone and home phone), even the music is in sync! The first time I got through, "Murphy" was told that I wanted to cancel. Phone mysteriously went dead. Second time, I chose the "correct" option, being "check on online order". I played the game, but was not pressured. Murphy, when asked, indicated it would take 2 weeks to get the camera. It was not in stock. I advise that I wanted to cancel. He said "okay" and, when prompted, gave me a four-digit confirmation number. I cancelled my Mastercard, last night, when a $1.00 charge came through. That was my first sign of something amiss. Hopefully, no further charges will be attempted by this outfit. As it appears that the cancellation was accepted, I cannot give them a negative rating. I will update in a few days to confirm that no charges were put through.

UPDATE: August 3, 2008.

I actually received a friendly email, confirming my cancelation. The next day, after having further researched the Canon 40D, I ordered it from Adorama. Kit with 17-85 "IS" was only $1299. Superb price. I ordered on Thursday and received everything the next morning. Superb service.
