"I sold a laptop in very good condition to this firm and was quoted a value in advance on their website of $173 that would be paid to me. As part of this transaction, I agreed in good faith that the buyer could inspect the item and make any adjustments that were appropriate - assuming that this would save everyone time and be handled reasonably. After SellaGadget.com inspected my laptop, however, the company said the value was $13 because (a) it was locked and (b) its condition was assessed to be much poorer than my description. In order to address this, I immediately sent the company the code to unlock the computer and asked them to either (a) reassess the laptop's value or (b) send it back to me since a reduction of over 90% was ridiculous. I also note that I have sold other electronic goods in the past through other sites and have always allowed those sites to make reasonable adjustments to the items' values and have NEVER had a vendor make any adjustment let-alone one of more than 90+%. In response to this rather ridiculous drop in assessed value, I asked SellaGadget.com several times to simply unlock and reassess the value of my laptop, let me speak to someone at their company more senior to discuss this, or send my laptop back to me (and I note that had to do this each time via their website since they do not publish a phone number to call them on). Their response each time was that there was nothing they could do and that they could not reassess the computer's value (even though they had the code to unlock it) because this was "their policy". When I finally let them know that I was an attorney and felt I should report this to the Florida Attorney General's office they said that I would have to contact their legal department and that the website would have no more contact with me. Unfortunately, and in the final bit of unreasonable conduct on their part, they did not provide the contact information for their legal department despite my very clear request that they do so. All in all, for a site like this to drop the quoted value of an item by more than 90% from their site's estimator and then say "there is nothing we can do," "we can't return your item", and "there is no one else you can speak with" seems to me outrageous. The fact that I initially gave them the right to reassess the good's value upon inspection does not make their conduct reasonable since inherent in the reassessment option I agreed to was some sort of "good faith" approach to me as the seller. From my perspective, their action in using this clause was anything but "good faith" when you combine (a) their 90% drop in the item's assessed value, (b) their complete unwillingness to reassess the value (even after they had the password), (c) their refusal to let me speak with anyone live who was in a more senior position, (d) their requirement that I contact their legal department without providing me the department's contact information (despite my very specific request that they do so), and (d) their unwillingness to simply send me the laptop back so that I could sell it to a different site that would act more reasonably. In short, seller beware - clearly some people had a good experience with this group based on the overall range of reviews but mine was absurdly bad. If that is the "crapshoot" that this company generates for its customers their are simply much better companies out there in the same business who will work with you in a reasonable manner so that you don't walk away feeling ripped off."

So they keep your item and keep your money and managers won’t do anything about it apparently. I have sold items to countless other companies and no one keeps both money and product - they will at least ship back your item. This is very bad business. "
