Unethical Scam Artists

"I wish I had read some of the reviews before sending my CDs to them. I sent 2 copies of several CD's as their website allows when you are creating your trade-in request. Once they received them, they only paid for 1 copy of the CDs I sent. Thus keeping about 10 CDs and not paying for them. (I was promised $30 for these and got nothing) What a scam and rip-off. If it was any more money involved, I would escalate, but not worth it and they know this and will continue to rip people off in the same manner.

"Crooks, thieves, incompetents!
I ordered from this sham seller before Thanksgiving 2019. It's days from Christmas now and no merchandise. Several emails to the seller have only garnered form letter responses stating my order shipped 11-25-19. The only thing to change with each response was the name of an imaginary employee at Second Spin. My order was substantial, which I'll be disputing all charges to my card through my bank.
BEWARE: THESE REVIEWS ALL CARRY WEIGHT-Do business with Second Spin at your own peril!
Lesson learned.

Junk Peddler...

"Purchased 4 DVDs from secondspin; all 4 were advertised in "Very Good Condition." All 4 arrived covered with scratches. When I objected, some wench named Rosalyn told me I was welcome to return the items at my expense. No thanks and NEVER AGAIN!!!"

Buyers beware !!!

"I ordered a DVD from this company... after I ordered I looked at there reviews... do I tried to cancel my order, got a message it was already shipped, when I received it in the mail it was crushed on the top on both corners ... I emailed the company with 3 pics of the damage, no response at all , lesson learned always look at a company’s customer reviews beforehand!!!!"

Not Recommend

"First, I DO NOT recommend this company at all. The one star is for the website, BUT Lord forbid you have to request a refund. Long story short, they messed up my DVD order and when I requested a refund, they gave me a credit for the dvd rather than refund my credit card. After approx 6 weeks of back and forth, I finally received the credit. Also, they do NOT have a phone number where can actually talk to a live person, rather you must go thru their email complaint system .. How convenient. Their customer service is the pits. I'm guessing they don't care at all. Again, I would not do business thru SecondSpin and I suggest you think twice before you do, too.

Multipul Excellent Experiences

"I sold hundreds of cd's to second spin and had nothing but an excellent experience.
The website was easy to use, my packages were received and reviewed in a timely fashion and checks were sent for the exact amount I was quoted and sometimes even more.
I filled up boxes of cd's only after I checked the prices on their site and knew I had at least $10 worth of stuff. Read the directions they supply on their site before you blindly ship them things, it's all spelled out, there is nothing misleading about this company or it's services.

Worked for Me

"Look, here's the deal - I've been to both Half-Price Books and 2nd & Charles (both used cd/dvd/bookstores that specialize in buying back items) to try to sell my items, and they both offered me only pennies for crates full of items. Then they get angry and fussy at you if you decide to take some of the higher-ticket items / items you prefer to keep out. 2nd & Charles even has a policy where you can't come back again for 24 hours if you decide to refuse the offer. From my experience, decluttr only offers pennies for most cd's/dvd's as well, and it seems to ride on the sole purpose that you'd be happy just getting rid of your stuff - in this case, as many others have said, just take your things to Goodwill, and they will give you a tax write-off form.

I checked my mail today and received a check in the mail from a company called "Trans World Entertainment". I didn't even know what it was at first, but after all the negative reviews on this board, I was surprised to see that the quoted amount was exactly the same - plus around 4 bucks reimbursement for shipping.

The sole mistake I made was not sending the books at the media rate - I told the woman at the post office that I wanted the cheapest rate, and she didn't offer me that option. I guess I should have told her what was in the package. The good news was that the package was insured, in case I never heard back from the company.

Here's the deal: you need to make sure that you go through the list of parameters they give you to insure that your items meet the standards given. I have taken good care of my cd's/dvd's over the years, and I checked every one of them to make sure they were in good condition before they were sent.

You also need to change out any jewel cases that are broken YOURSELF - simply go through your other cd's, and find jewel cases to replace them with. Use general common sense to be the judge of what is considered good and what is considered broken, and you'll be okay.

One final note - do NOT send any cd's/dvd's that have a low quote value. I only sent the items where I was given a quote of $3 or more. For the ones where you are given $0.25 quotes or whatever, DO NOT BOTHER. This is NOT what this place is for. Send those to decluttr instead. Then you will not have a major complaint about their shipping reimbursement policy, as your load will be much lighter.

There are a few cons, but not many - I did not receive any e-mail notifications from the company - not even about the payback amount. I had to check their website myself to check the status of the package. But it did indeed say that it had been received and was "in process". The check in the mail was quite a surprise, as I was not really expecting it.

The final con - once your quote has been given, you can't change the order unless you re-do the entire order. I had decided there were some items I wanted to keep at the end instead of shipping them out. Simple solution: don't send them, and they will leave them out of the quote. There was one DVD in which the price had changed since I received the quote - that's my fault, as I didn't not send out the package soon enough. I let it sit there for awhile, and the price of the DVD therefore went down. Oh well.

Final thought: follow the parameters they give you before sending, and you will be fine. Send them high-value items only, and you will be fine.

Shipping Reimbursement

"Please read the fine print about shipping. If the total price offered for your items is not at least $10, they will not reimburse shipping...and it's very difficult to reach $10 on used DVDs/CDs. So I received $5.20 for my collection, but my shipping was $5.50. So basically I PAID Second Spin to TAKE my DVDs, that they will turn around and sell for a profit! Lol I didn't complain because it was my fault for not reading the fine print, plus my goal was only to get rid of some items that I don't use...not make money. But lesson learned. I will never use this company again. "

Wrong dvd's -blu-rays constantly being sent over and over.

"This place is a joke! I've ordered movies of certain titles that they specifically say are in stock and upon receiving them are totally different movies of the same title! Mostly dollar bin junk! If it happens once or twice I understand but its happened to me over and over again! I've complained numerous times and they do the same thing, credit my account. But if I order a movie that is the same amount I get credit for I still end up paying four dollars more for shipping so they still make a profit for messing up my order! One time I ordered a movie that had the wrong disc inside, they told me they were sorry and credited my account instead of sending me another copy of the same movie that they clearly had in stock! So I ended up ordering the same movie again PLUS had to pay the extra four dollars and change for shipping! Ive ordered movies that were scratched and didnt play, no discs inside, wrong discs inside and like I said completely different movies that they advertise having and sending cheap generic movies of the same title! I've complained and complained and nothing is ever done about it. Be warned people."

"We decided to try selling our pre-owned CDs and DVDs to them. We will never use them again.

We were quoted $78. We checked all items before shipment since they indicated they would charge us for new cases. It’s very convenient that Second Spin said so many of our products were scratched, missing, or broken. And an even bigger coincidence was that it was almost all of the items they quoted over $1 (the average was 40 cents).

We shipped the items with tracking and they were delivered on Feb 4. We received an email on Feb 12 that we needed to be sure to send out our orders because our quote was expired but they were graciously giving us an extension of two days to send our stuff in.

Once I provided the tracking numbers showing the orders were received two WEEKS prior, they were miraculously found.

We ended up getting paid $44.

NEVER do business with this company again.

"i sold 3 cds to second spin. The letter of acceptance listed the buy price. When they received them they lowered the price drastically from 3.50 to 50 cents on a particular cd . They charged me 35 cents to resurface another cd. Then they said the UPC numbers did not match from 2 of 3 cds. I typed in the UPCs from the cd when using the sell search feature. A set price came up
They give you a misleading statement that they will cover media mail on the acceptance email. There is no hint on that email that you need x amount of items to be sold in order to receive media mail reimbursement.They bury their shipping policy elsewhere. although they do mention that you should go review this shipping policy

They are not transparent about certain things. Donate to your local library instead.

Deceitful Business

"They give you a quote, and it’s a low one based on volume of product and say they will reimburse on shipping. Once they went through my order which they quoted around $60, they say they will offer me less than $6 and no reimbursement for my shipping and I’m sure they are selling everything I sent to them without reimbursing me for the product. What a sham!!"
