"This is my first and last time with this company buyer beware.

I tried to cancel my order with them though their online Phone number within an hour of my order. They claim they could not do it Their system was down.

The product arrived so. I put it in my computer its a bad card the graphics are corrupt. It is a Radeon 9800 card but funny thing is its on a radeon 9700 pcb board and showing up under windows xp as a radeon 9800 pro. Something very fishy about the whole deal.

So I call to try to get some help and for two more days Dennis their guy who answer's the call's tell's me the system is down. Today
I got them now I can return the card for a 15% restocking fee? The card is dead they did give me two options. Return it for almost a fifty dollar loss. Or return it for them to test for a replacment. But get this its supposed to be a new card but they tell me they did a complete test on this one before it shipped WHY if its new. If they did that how can it be new? And why them doing a test on it makes it still a new card yet me returning after it would not work in my computer a used card which they would have to sell at a reduced rate to somebody else. So that
poor buyer would have to return it at another 15% off pretty soon you got a whole profit margin going just on sending out returns.

Why can't they return it to the company that supplies them with their products if its not working something very strange going on.

Run away from runtime computer you will be glad you did. Read the reviews they are getting. They have gone down hill big time not a good company to deal with.

"I am extremely unsatisfied with their (lack of) customer service, and their unethical policies.

I purchased a CPU, which turned out to be DOA. They said they'd replace it, but the replacement process would take at least a week because of shipping times, and their internal testing time.

I explained that the CPU was going into a computer that was a gift for my brother who lives 3000 miles away, and that I was leaving in two days and taking the computer with me on my flight.

So I asked if they could do an advance replacement, meaning they ship a PREPAID replacement to me right away and when they receive the defective item, issue the refund for that item. "Sorry, we don't do that."

Then I asked for a refund on the defective item since I had no other option. They claimed that since I'm am returning an "opened" item, they can only give me a refund of 85% of my purchase price. Opened item???? When did my defective item turn into an opened item? They certainly can't resell the CPU. If I had waited for a replacement and returned that one (which would have been unopened) I would be eligible for 100% refund. However, for some reason the defective item is not eligible for the same consideration... thieves!

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY FROM RUNTIME... or at least hope you never have to return anything!!!

"I am extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service, violation of trust (almost to the point of extortion of information), and lack of effort made to accomodate me while trying to make a purchase from Runtime Computer Corporation. Despite my efforts to convince these people that I am not trying to commit fraud, Chris (their excuse for a customer service representative) would not complete my order, simply because I had moved in the last 12 months. What they are doing is not only highly frustrating, but violates privacy rights that I, as a paying customer, feel I deserve. Only after I gave them my credit card number would they tell me that they were going to have to cancel my order because they could not verify through my bank that I'd lived in the same place for a year. The fact that I've worked in the same place for well over a year, and the fact that I've had the same bank account for over a year was of no concern to them. I feel as if it was a scam to gain access to my account information. I'll back this up with the way I was spoken to, and the questions I was asked: Chris asked me, after my card didn't go through the first time (I recieved an e-mail 2 days later) if I'd made any deposits since then (his tone was sarcastic). I had sufficient funds the whole time, and he had no business asking me questions like that. Chris was unhelpful, aloof, and had no concern for the reputation of the company that has so graciously employed this apathetic misanthrope. His attitude was one of distrust, and he obviously thought I was only calling to continue to attempt to take advantage of his company and not simply to straighten out the misunderstanding. Now, for some reason, the price of the part I was trying to purchase has gone up $30, these people have my account information, and I still don't have the part that I need. I can't stress highly enough how miserable my experience was in attempting to do business with Chris and Runtime Computer Corporation. If you've recently moved, they just don't want you for a customer, regardless of how much proof you throw at them to back yourself up. Never in my entire life have I been left with such a sour taste in my mouth from trying to make such a simple purchase."

"I've worked my butt off to get almost every card inside my case to have a red PCB (red PCB DDR is really expensive BTW). I ordered a red Radeon 9500 128MB video card from RuntimeCC. I didn't know that there was this new black version of the card, and their site had no picture of the video card no did it say what color the board was. When it finally arrived (2 day shipping shouldn't take a week, BTW), they had sent me the version with the black PCB. I emailed them immediately, and after 4 days they replied saying that the card they sent me matched the specifications of the card they had listed on their web site (ATI Radeon 9500 128MB DDR w/ TV-Out w/ DVI OEM). I told them that the card I thought I ordered fit that description, too, but they didn't say that they sold this new crazy black version. After a week, they said I had to call their toll free phone number to make a return. I called it, and merely told the guy that their site didn't say I was ordering the new black version and that they needed to send me the red one I ordered, and he immediately got in my face about how ATI nor his company recognize the ability to convert the red 9500s into 9700s. I told him I didn't care about that, I'm going for an all-red-PCB project, and he did backpeddle a bit, but said that I could return it for credit,but there would be a 15% restocking fee, and they don't even carry that video card any more, let alone any red versions. I pressured him with the fact that this is fradulent advertizing, but he didn't budge. He agreed that I could sell it on eBay if I wanted to get my money back."

"What a waste of time. Our company does 12 mil per year in sales and this company was WAY too much hassle to even deal with to pull in a CPU. We were shorted on our last order, and now they can't even verify an address that has been on my credit card for four months! Take your business to Newegg or elsewhere. "

"I called Runtime to make sure they had the CPU that I needed in stock, before placing my order. They were very quick to answer the phone and pleasantly courteous. They were extremely professional and organized, which made answer my questions seem immediate and effortless; their demonstrated competency made me feel completely at ease. It was shipped the very next day and arrived quickly in perfect condition. I am extremely pleased with the responsiveness, efficiency and level of competence shown by this company. "Bought a P4 2.0 CPU and 256 MB of Micron DDR ram. Had problems assembling my machine, so I returned both to be tested. They tested them free of charge and replaced the bad piece of memory (albeit with a cheaper piece and did not refund the difference even though their web site said they had the original brand in stock) and shipped them back at their expense. Overall an OK buying experience."

"I ordered a Samsung 16x DVD (Retail) Drive on 3 December. I check the online status page every drive only to find "My order has been sent to the warehouse". Ok, It's been a week, … put it on a truck. I ordered from five different retailers the same day and have received every other item I ordered. No response to my email. I’ll call them today and cancel. They had the best price, $47.00 & free shipping, but this is no deal.

Called them on 11 December, the Drive was out of stock. This of course was not reflected on the Web Site when I placed the order. Rep was easy to deal with and the order was canceled.

"Was doing a quick search for new P4 2.26 and ran across these guys on price watch. Looked at their ratings/comments here and was aprehensive. But their site advertised if ordered by 3:00PM ET they would ship same day. I called them at 3:25 and asked if they would please go ahead and get my shipment out overnight. Well they did and I had my chip in the next evening and been running fine since. There prices were a bit higher than others, but considering my urgency it was all a good transaction."

"I am totally disgusted with Runtime Computer Corporation. I am currently going through a credit card dispute with them because they refuse to resolve a matter. The following explains the situation. I purchased several items from Runtime on August 11, 2002: Asus P4T533 Motherboard + 512MB RIMM4200 + Asus V8460Ultra/Deluxe GeForce4 Ti4600 + Western Digital 8MB 120Gig Hard Drive

The Asus V8460Ultra/Deluxe - GeForce4 Ti4600 Video Card that I received was defective and I was told by the merchant that it would be exchanged immediately after returning the item. They refused to issue me a refund for this particular item so I agreed to the immediate exchange. When they received the returned item on Aug 22, 2002, they now told me that the product I returned was no longer in stock and on back-order. They sold out of this product since our telephone conversation and never bothered to set one aside for me. They now had no idea when I would receive a replacement. I pleaded with them to give me a refund on this item and they consistently refused. They then offered to send me the same product, but stated it was an open-box return from another customer who just did not want it. They assured me that the product was in working condition and not missing any parts. I agreed since they did not give me any other options.
When I received the replacement, it was again defective and was even missing a part (driver CD). I contacted them and was told to return it again. When they received the return on Aug 30, 2002, they confirmed that the product was defective just as the first one. However, they still refused to give me a refund. In fact, they even refused to send me an exchange. They stated that they would return the product to the manufacturer, and only after they were credited would they refund me for the purchase.

They also accused me of possibly damaging the product or that it was incompatible with my computer. They said that maybe my power supply was too big!! You have got to be kidding. I have built dozens of high end machines and they insulted my intelligence. I then contacted the manufacturer, ASUS, and was told by one of the technicians that it was nearly impossible to damage this product and that it was definitely compatible with all my other computer equipment that consisted mostly of Asus products. The technician also stated that it is very likely that this merchant received a defective batch of this product. He even questioned why the merchant would not simply refund me my money. He also said that I would have gotten much better service if I would have returned it directly to Asus.

Be warned, rate this company by how they handle their defectives. If they can't resolve your problems with an exchange, they WILL NOT GIVE YOU BACK YOUR MONEY! It is not worth taking the chance of purchasing anything from them. Any one who had a good experience with Runtime was just lucky.

After numerous phone calls, a letter, and warning them of a credit card dispute, I was offered a refund but would be charged a 15% restocking fee. I refused to pay a restocking fee because the product was defective upon receipt in both cases. The restocking fee should only be applicable if I was returning the product because I simply did not want it. This was not the case. The reason they gave me was because the product was now opened. As I stated earlier, the second replacement was already opened and previously sold. Besides, both returns were defective meaning that they cannot and should not be resold but returned to the manufacturer, no fault of my own. Please note that my computer was inoperable all this time and I had to purchase a replacement elsewhere (Visiontek Xtasy GeForce4 Ti4600 Video Card, AGP, 128MB DDR), which is equivalent to the item I originally purchased. It is practically identical and just manufactured by another company. It works perfectly and is evidence that there are no incompatibilities.

I have been patient and cooperative with Runtime, but they refuse to resolve this matter. As of Sept. 20th, 2002, I have still not received a refund.

Please note that this company no longer offers this product on their web site. Probably a result from the defectives they are selling.

I will never purchase from this merchant again.

A refund at this point however will not compensate for the shipping costs that I have incurred, including a Next Day Air UPS Saturday delivery.

The problem I was having with this video card is that I would get a checkerboard pattern and graphics/text were terribly corrupted. This was before even installing any drivers and after installing drivers. I even tried the board in another computer and got the same problem. I then tried three different video cards in my computer and they all worked fine. I am now happy with my Visiontek card. I am somewhat dissapointed with Asus but I am totally disgusted with Runtime.

If I don't get my refund soon, I'll post this complaint every where humanly possible! Better Business Bureau & Federal Trade Commission are next.
