Dog now dying

"I left a healthy young dog with an irresponsible Rover.com sitter (Sheila Connor, in San Diego) and after eating a poisonous plant in her yard he is now slowly dying. She did nothing to help him despite claiming to be trained in dog first aid and supposedly having a medical background and knowledge. Her "fenced yard" yard wasn't even really fully enclosed so my other dog was surely also almost killed when she walked out of the sitter's yard, crossed a busy street, and went home. Rover.com pretends to carefully check the safety and abilities of the sitters who they advertise but when fraud becomes apparent they point to Clause 16 of their disclaimer to deny any such vetting and any responsibility."

Pray you never have to deal with customer service!

"If everything goes as planned, I am sure it is fine. Just hope you never have to deal with Rover.com's customer services via their Trust and Safety department. My communications from them have been full of lies, half truths and statements intended to mislead.

They promised to "advocate" on my behalf to their 3rd party insurance company to cover a vet visit that was required as a result of a Rover.com stay, however they never even initiated said claim and refused to accept records from the vet (it took the vet repeated tries to even initially reach a supervisor in the Trust and Safety department).
After weeks of back and forth, I was finally able to contact said insurance company and the representative stated that even if our pet was healthy when we dropped her off and become ill with the vet stating she was poisoned, they still not even allow me to send a claim to the claims department because "if it was poisoning, it could have occurred prior to the sitter taking custody of your pet."

You are best to book your stay directly through the sitter, avoiding Rover. Their customer service and "insurance" is a sham, certainly not worth the fee they charge!

I have been closely following Rover.com's Facebook page over the last several weeks and have seen multiple posts with concerns from different people quickly removed from their page without any response from Rover. It's shameful they feel they have to hide from complaints without even giving any response.
