"So you're a web savvy consumer who's looking to buy a plasma TV. RapidPlasma.com comes up with some of the lowest prices, and looking at their site, you're impressed by the Better Business Bureau Online Reliability logo, as well as the other spate of business certifications from PriceRunner, CNet, NexTag, Yahoo, BizRate, etc. *Don't be fooled!* I can't find them in the BBB Online's merchant listing, and they aren't on NexTag either. It seems like they've pasted a whole bunch of these certification seals to make it appear as if they are legitimate!
So, I had the misfortune of going through a purchase with this company. First warning sign was when they promised a delivery within the coming week, and it actually took 3. Next, I didn't receive a receipt, and had to request one by email and over the phone, which I'm still waiting for. What else? After purchasing thousands of dollars for a pricey TV, I decided that I didn't want the stand I'd ordered. Their website notes the 30 day money back guarantee in the About Us section, and "#1 Return Policy Guaranteed" on the home page. Well, when you try to return something, they tell you that you can return the whole shipment, but not part of it. So I can't return a $200 unopened stand without also returning about $2500 for the rest of the order, and pay a 15% restocking fee (about $400). The manager I spoke with said that almost no companies take partial returns (what??) and that it was my fault that I changed my mind ... before hanging up on me twice. I was extremely cordial, but insistent, but that's not any kind of customer service. What kind of #1 Return Policy is that?
Avoid RapidPlasma like the plague. I am not kidding with you."
"Product was suddenly unavailable when I refused an overpriced extended warranty. This merchant certaintly lives up to the adage: " If it seems to good to be true...it probably is." Avoid them."
"I ordered a 50" plasma tv over the phone and was given the same out the door price as indicated on line. Two weeks later I was contacted to "verify" my shipping address. At this point the salesman tried to "sneak in" a $164 insurance charge. He said they always charge 8 percent of purchase price for shipping which goes directly to their shipping agent.
Of course, if I was willing to buy an overpriced extended warranty, he said we could make a deal.
Needless to say, I promptly cancelled my order. Hopefully my CC won't get charged like the other reviewer. BEWARE OF THESE COMPANIES OUT OF NEW YORK, NY. They all try the same thing. "
"I started placing the order by giving all of my information including credit card number. Then, at the end, the salesman slips in that there will be a $136 shipping insurance charge. I asked why that is not mentioned anywhere when I went to order online. He said that it's mentioned under store policies. So, I asked to cancel the order. He said okay. But, I later found out from my credit card company that RapidPlasma attempted to put the charge through anyway. Luckily, my credit card company blocked it as suspicious activity. Buyer beware."
