"This group does business at www.maptrails.com and also as publiclands.org. I bought a CD of Maps of Oregon (Oregon BLM 3.5) that was suppose to have surface ownership (public, state, and private)and topography, based on US Bureau of Land Managment maps. I actually bought the product in 2006, but had to enter a later date to write this review. A few weeks after receiving the CD and browsing it I discovered that the ownership layer was missing for large areas of the state, such as the Lower Deschutes Region, and large areas of SE Oregon (perhaps other areas I have not looked at). Also, the topographic layer was missing for large areas (areas with missing coverage correspond to BLM maps such as Lower Deschutes River). Without ownership and topography, the cd is of little or no use to me. I bought it to get away from paper maps, and I have much better digital topographic maps. I have paper BLM maps that show ownership and topograph for the regions with missing coverage on the CD, so it is not a matter of them being unavailable.

Shortly after buying the Map CD I contacted the organization to point out the missing coverage and ask them to add those layers and send me a new CD with the map information they claimed to be selling. I received no reply. Two years later, I sent another message asking if the coverage had been corrected (updated) and again received no reply.

If you are thinking of purchasing the Oregon BLM 3.5 CD you better make sure the maps have the coverage you want in the areas of interest, else it will be worthless. Hunters, rockhounds, and others that use these maps to learn where there is public land will be disappointed. The product is defective. The group is non-profit but that does not absolve them from selling a defective product at least 2 years after I pointed out some of the defects.

The interface for these maps is very primitive and limited, but useable.
