"Went online to find a home security system for a home I was buying in Maryland and did not suspect that a company would be flooding the search engine criteria marketplace with their own bogus reviews - stupid me, huh? Contacted PROTECT AMERICA to get some information and found I was talking to a high-pressure salesman adept at exploiting the fears of an old man. Before I knew it I had been pushed into a contract before I'd even examined their technical gear. They sent their package to my temporary lodgings 150 miles away from the property I was buying, so I didn't open the box. Then the closing was delayed, then I got sick, then one thing led to another - mover delays, the list goes on. Opening that box had gone down on my list of concerns, and I missed the deadline for their return policy, not any codified under law return policy mind you. When I finally opened the box on June 27, 2015, I found their system to be pretty Mickey Mouse (I'm a retired radio frequency engineer) and was dismayed. I contacted them by email (never acknowledged by them) and told them that I was returning their product next business day, the 29th. I did that; I got a return receipt as well. Still no acknowledgement. I contacted their RESOLUTION CENTER (another one of their Orwellian terms) and got the biggest runaround I've ever encountered. Bottom line: They wanted me to SELL their system to someone else. I have tried without any acknowledgement to respond to every email demand from the with the reply: CANCELLED, PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE. NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING. I never initialized their system, never plugged it in; just repackaged and returned it. When I made an irate call today, a senior person stepped into he call and after asking and asking and asking for a bottom line resolution was told: We can send you the box back and you can live with it, or you can pay $199 ( this on top of over a hundred dollars in other payments already made) and we'll let you out. I said: Send me a release letter through the mail and I give you a check. No, they don't do mail, he said. Maybe they're afraid of mail fraud exposure. I said send it to me by email; you have my address where you've been relentlessly tormenting me. He said he could do that, but to date he has not done that. AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. IF THEY TREAT PEOPLE LIKE THIS BEFORE THEY EVEN TURN THE SYSTEM ON, IMAGINE HOW YOU'LL BE TREATED WHEN YOU HAVE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS."
