They sold me a stolen/lost tablet and there response was... It looks like the time for your return has expired

"They sold me A lost /stolen tablet. I got it as a backup and didn't try to activate it right away. When I did and realized it was lost/stolen they responded... "We follow eBay's 30 day return policy. It looks like the time for your return on this item has ended, so unfortunetly there is nothing we are able to do. Any issues needed to be reported within 30 days."

Beware, unprofessional

"I sent these guys quite a few boards over the years. They have repaired them or replaced them successfully and pretty consistently. I've spend a few thousand dollars with this service. The last one, their tech overlooked something. After I received it back, I contacted them immediately. They tried to blame me for the problem, saying I did it while installing. Well, that was not the case and when I rebutted their attempt to avoid responsibility. One of their representatives told me they would not provide services to me further. Once again, I've spent thousands of dollars here and sent in over a dozen repairs to this company. Very unprofessional and extremely ungrateful. Since then, I found another service provider to replace them and my experience has been amazing. When a business refuses to do business with someone, they need to be reminded that everyone is replaceable. I'll leave two stars for both years they did good work. Beware and definitely shop around, this is not your only option!"

Powerbook Medic Treat Overseas Customers with Utter Contempt

"I ordered a keyboard with the backlight pane for a MacBook A1502. It was a difficult job to fit as the original keyboard is held in by 102 rivets, most of which needed to be drilled out. The new keyboard was held in by small screws. When I re-installed the motherboard, I found that the connector from the backlight pane would not click in. You could push it into the motherboard socket and it would come out again on its own accord.

When everything was back together I found that the keyboard backlight did not operate even if I held the connector into its socket. I emailed Powerbook Medic and they asked for specific photos which I took with a macro lens on a camera mounted on a tripod. They said that they had supplied the correct part and wanted proof that the motherboard was not damaged beforehand. I said that I would order a new backlight pane from a USA company that was offering them. When it arrived, I found that its connector clicked in properly to the motherboard socket and the backlight worked perfectly. I then took photos of it working but not installed at this stage and sent one with a covering email back to Powerbook Medic. I asked them to pay for the backlight pane. They have not bothered to respond to this email or a subsequent reminder. (I offered to send the faulty part back to them.)

Because I live in Brisbane, Australia, Powerbook Medic could not give a damn but are quite happy to peddle their inferior Chinese rubbish overseas without qualms.

Experience difficult but positive in the end

"Issue with powerbookmedic.com web site:
I tried to sign up for one of their forums and my e mail address was tagged as black listed
for excessive spam. The interface included a link to a site with the record and the link was
to a page with no information about my e-mail address.

Macbook Pro 15", mid to late 2008: unibody, removable battery
The issue:
Display has severe horizontal white banding across the upper half of the screen and the whole
visible display oscillates rapidly, vertically over a few rows of pixels.

-I later discovered the SMC: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2692352 and problems with it
may cause the machine to fail to power up. It can be reset like the nvram, but with different
procedure. There is also the Apple Hardware Test: https://support.apple.com/en-us/ht201257.
If I had known of these possibilities when the issue appeared, I would not have had to go
through this: IT WAS NOT THE LOGIC BOARD ITSELF.

powerbookmedic.com would not support software. But issues with nvram, EFI and SMC should be
part of the hardware support for something as significant as a logic board.

With powerbookmedic.com
1: do as much correspondence about issues as possible via e-mail so
you have a detailed written record of correspondence.
2: for components with serial numbers record the serial number of the part to be replaced
And any related component serial numbers.
AND the serial numbers and condition of all the replacements they provide.
have a camera available to record the condition of parts to be replaced and replacement
parts.
In my case, to be fair, their records where probably not updated properly to reflect the
current state of the issue. I got two logic boards, one after the other. They probably
recorded the serial number of the first logic board (that they seem to indicate was being
repaired under warrantee). Then they sent me a different logic board for the second time and
did not update their record of the serial number.

I neglected to record the actual time and date that the issue appeared, but it must have been
around the end of April 2018.
1: I purchased a replacement logic board from powerbookmedic.com.
I would have purchased one from iFixit but they were out of stock.
I was led to believe that the issue was GPU related and that the logic board needed replacement.
- from Connecting Point (Medford, Or), among others.
2: I got the replacement board and installed it.
It would not power up. I took the machine appart to check the connections. They were sound.
I reinstalled the original board and it started up with same display issues. So it was not
a problem with magsafe board (a separate small board that the power cord connects to)

3: I contacted powerbookmedic for a replacement. It came and I could not get it to boot completely
It kept auto rebooting before completion. I used safe mode boot and it did boot to login screen
with the same display issues as the original
I reset the nvram (pram), with no improvement.
4: I contacted powerbookmedic about it and they tried to sell me service to diagnos the problem
In annoyance, I asked for a refund.
4a: At this point I figured the machine is really too old so I got on Best Buy and bought one
of the used Macbook Pros they had for sale.
5: I decided to re install the original board, if just to get it out of the way.
THE SYSTEM BOOTED UP WITHOUT THE ORIGINAL DIPSLAY ISSUE. It continues to work fine with no
further apparent issues.
THE LOGIC BOARD DID NOT NEED REPLACEMENT. I can only presume that resetting the nvram made
the difference. But I had the replacement board in when I did that. So it must mean that
the nvram is not stored on the logic board itself. And why wouldn't it have made a difference
with the replacement board?
5b: I decided to keep the used Macbook Pro from Best Buy instead of canceling the order.
6: I sent the second logic board back to powerbookmedic and they gave me a runaround about the
serial number on record not matching the serial number of the board I sent back.
I scanned the receipts I had received with the replacement boards and took out the logic
board and photoed the printed serial number on the board.
-the serial number is in a location where it is impossible to see without taking out the board.
7: Finally after sending that evidence, they issued a refund without further question on 7/16/2018,
which showed up in checking account today: 7/19/2018

The take away: This is a learning experience that only ending up costing me two UPS shipping
charges for returning the two logic boards: about $22: and removing and installing the original
board 6 times, and a span of nearly two months time.

fake Apple parts

"I ordered a $51 "Apple" backlit keyboard for my Macbook Pro and got it and installed it and on the Return and Shift keys I have to hit them hard like an old typewriter for them to work. Genuine Apple parts don't have defects like that so my only conclusion is that they sell fake Apple parts, stuff they get cheap from one of those copycat companies in the orient.
If you want good quality parts then don't get them from Powerbook Medic.

Un-necessary billing policies are inconvenient and stupid

"I ordered a logic board from them and within 15 minutes I received an email stating that my order had been cancelled. When I called to find out why they told me that my bank had not honored the charge because I told them to ship it to a different address from my billing address. I called up my bank and they told me that it WAS NOT their policy to stop charges from going through because the shipping address was different from the billing. Not only that but the charge DID go through as the money WAS deducted from my account. So the money comes out instantly but now, because of Powerbook medics policy, I have to wait 2-3 days(possibly more) to get the money back so I can try to purchase the part again. This whole mishap will hold me up for a week or more. No other merchant has ever given me a problem about shipping to different addresses. So needless to say, if this is PBM's policy, I will not be trying to do business with them again. This was unacceptable!"

Horrifying

"Not only did we order a phone a week ago, BUT the order was cancelled for zero reason by them. They took the money from my bank account two days later and put it back immediately. It's not even remotely worth the trouble."

Triple overnight? Try a month.

"Sent in a client's laptop for repair using their triple overnight service on a Wednesday. On Friday I inquired about the box, apparently I had just missed the cutoff for the Wednesday, they told me they only ship boxes on M/W/F, so I waited until Monday. Again, I expected to receive one but didn't. Repeated inquiries via email got me nowhere, finally I called and they told me it got lost and that they'd ship one out. They did ship one out and I received a tracking number for the first time six days after the initial request.

They diagnosed the machine the day after receiving it (not bad) but told me it needed a ton of parts that seemed extraneous. I asked them to explain via email and I received nothing but slow and unhelpful responses. When I called I received the real news, that my client's laptop had liquid damage. Suddenly the parts made sense, why the heck couldn't they have just told me that directly when I asked via email?

My client declined their repair and I offered to repair it directly (I do not do PCB level repair, only component level, I thought it needed the former and was wrong.) Turns out it only needed a new trackpad control board and cable. Before I knew this I had ordered an entirely new upper case as I thought the keyboard was bad (my fault.) So instead of the $883.65 they quoted it was $399.54 for a new top case (shipped) and $14.34 for a trackpad cable (instead of the $53.75 they quoted for the exact same part.)

I don't have a huge problem with their general pricing or policies, I do have a problem with their massive communication issues (having to call to get any sort of real answer) and their quoting repairs for components that needed no repair. The unit hasn't had a single thing done to the main logic board itself and yet is currently working perfectly after my repair (by replacing other components.) They were going to charge me $249.95 for the logic board repair and $95 for labor which was 100% unnecessary, as proven by my own repair.

I wanted to pay them for a rush repair (triple overnight) and instead it took a month for no repair to take place, and a steady stream of delays and excuses. The only positive I can think of is that every time I spoke to Jacob in their repair dept, I got real information and he followed through. So if you have to use them and things aren't going right, call and ask to speak to Jacob, based on my experience he will take care of you. He is the reason the repair is two stars instead of one.

I reached out to see if they were interested in resolving this in a manner that seemed fair to them, it's been over 24hrs and I have received no response. I do not recommend using powerbookmedic.com's services.

"I had sent my MacBook in for a Logic board repair. I was told it was fixed and when I received it, it did not work correctly. I sent it back and was told the LVDS cable was bad, they replaced it and when I got it back, it still did not work. I sent it in again and was told the Hard drive was bad, they replaced that, got it back and it still was having issues. At this point I took the MacBook to Apple and they advise me the connector on the logicboard was bad. I contacted Powerbook again and they fixed it and now I finally have a working MacBook. They were very professional and did stand by their warranty, but I think they need to qualified people in the repairs department. I would use them again and I would refer them though, because they did stand behind their warranty and that is rare now days."

"I ordered a Grade B topcase for a late 2008 mbp which came to me missing 5 brackets. It was unusable. They claimed to have no more b grade top cases and offered to exchange me for a brand New one if I covered the price difference. I found this to be ridiculous.

If you sell a broken product to someone and Its your final one it's the companies responsibility to right this wrong. They refunded me my money but I don't need 23$ I need a top case. After taking 4 days to ship and sending broken parts why would I send MORE money to this company?

I now have two broken top cases. Hooray.

Never again.

"They surpassed my expectations, and I recommend them without hesitation.
I had previous purchases from them, and they were all outstanding. I should have left them reviews back then.
I'm writing this review in regards to a MacMini I sold them. They were professional, honest, and reliable. I was hesitant due to the bad experiences I had encountered on ebay and craigslist, and the reviews seemed to be a split decision.. I had prior transactions they were very favorable, so I chose PowerbookMedic.com. They paid me the amount their site estimated, and was higher then ANY of their competitors estimates by a long shot. I did have to call to get an update at one point, as I had not received a response by email. They were very polite and humbly explained the delay. The guy was so nice, while I wasn't at all, that I felt bad for doubting them. He changed the game, and turned a angry customer into pleased and loyal one.
They shame the competition, and have earned my future business, and I will recommend them to everyone I know.
I have no bias or anything to gain. I am accounting for my actual experience with them, and I would purchase from powerbookmedic before I would apple themselves. yeah, they are that good.
Thank you PowerBookMedic.com!!!!!

"I ordered a MacBook Pro LVDS Display Cable, quoted "NOT part 593-0766 B", mailed them a productnumer of the screen and three pictures, asked them three times what part# to order, but Cara cannot read or wants to check: indeed the wrong part.
Another quote from their site: "We pride ourselves in excellent customer service".
But of course it's not their fault... So: a restocking fee (!) and shipping costs higher than the value of the cable.
