"I was denied after turning in an application for a dog with special needs. WHO do you think you are denying people eager to sacrifice and rescue a dog with needs???) I bought a healthy dog of the same breed from a private owner. Pet finder agencies need to redefine their policies. I wonder how many $$$ actually get to these animals in need. Is pet finder really Legit? "
"I lost my dog 3 months ago and found this site with HUNDREDS of dogs to adopt.. I sent messages to ex amount of people inquirying about a dogs.. It either took forever to hear back from them or with a simple question to see if a particular dog was still available I had to fill out a application 1st which I have no problem with, but why would I fill out a application if the dog is already adopted?!?! It’s so sad that these dogs could be adopted into good homes but they make it impossible to do so!!! After inquiring about different dogs I did my research to check the reviews out.. No wonder Pet finder that almost all of your reviews got a 1 star!!! What a shame for these precious fur babies!! Smh"
"They only want to harvest information about YOU! Whether you get a pet or not is of no concern to them! They steal your private info(and you let them the second you accepted their privacy policy!) I am POSITIVE nobody would allow this petfinder site or anyone for that matter to harvest the unnecessary information about them just because they were looking for a pet! GO READ THE PRIVACY POLICY WE ALL AGREED TO UNWITTINGLY!
The problem is you CAN NOT EVER close your "free" account you're forced to create! You can ONLY click the unsubscribe from emails box! NO WAY TO CLOSE THE ACCOUNT! "I realize that foster parents and rescue places want to find the best homes for their animals, but I totally lost all faith in humanity today when we were turned down for kittens (and advised that we need an older animal by someone who has no clue what they’re talking about). During the phone conversation with the foster parent of two kittens, I shared that our cat who passed a month ago was a calming force for my 12 year old son who’s on the autism spectrum. We loved Tux like there was no tomorrow and were heartbroken when we had to say goodbye due to a urinary blockage that couldn’t be repaired (his second in a few months even with special food and meds). My response to her email informing me that we’d be better suited with an older cat is below. I won’t name the place as I don’t want to hinder pets having a safe place to be until they find their forever home. But, if you’re making decisions, please don’t be a ****. You don’t know my family and our needs. I do.
“As the mom of a twelve year old child with special needs, I am the best judge of what my son needs and doesn’t need. If I didn’t feel like he (and our family) could handle a kitten (or two), I wouldn’t even remotely entertain the idea. We’ve spent the last three days looking which should tell you it’s not a rash decision.
We’re experienced pet owners and former owners of a farm in Union County with horses rescued off the racetrack, unwanted goats, etc.
I’m actually incredibly offended that you came to the conclusion that my son “needs a calm animal that will sit with him” thinking you know best. You don’t and I feel you’re being discriminatory with your decision. What you don’t know about my son (but were quick to judge based on a very limited conversation) is that he’s incredibly active and would not be interested in an older cat that’s already set in its ways who would be less likely to bond with him. He wants a cat that can grow up with him (like our other pets). But, taking into account the fact that you never even considered allowing us to meet the kittens, you wouldn’t know that.
You should probably rethink your communication to families with special needs. We face plenty of discrimination, unfair judgement, snide comments and looks daily and have to fight for things others take for granted like education, inclusion, healthcare...even something as simple as getting a kitten. It’s exhausting, disheartening and infuriating at times.
We will continue looking and visiting shelters and will find the right pet for our family. I can promise you this, though...you won’t find a better family for your animals than ours.

"I have attempted multiple time using multiple methods to inquire about recuse animals I wished to adopt. I received 0 returned emails, 0 phone calls answered, 0 return calls from messages left over multiple weeks. The website looks like the layout is nice but it is so painfully slow. I put up with it for weeks taking multiple hours doing what should have taken 1 or so. And then after all of my wasted time...they apparently don't even care about the pets listed. Great concept...terrible execution."
"Did a search on Petfinder.com for a pet within a 25mi radius of my zip code. Found a match, filled out the invasive 5 page application, endured the home inspection only to find that the pet was fostered 100 miles away in another state. This was never mentioned on the posting. I feel I was misled. When I questioned the owner of the rescue she became defensive and abrasive. I emailed Petfinder.com 3 times..no response. Currently waiting of a reply from corporate @Nestle-Purina the owners of this "non-profit." I will never use this service again and urge others to do the same. ADOPT AND SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL SPCA."
