"Around May 21, 2009, my husband ordered custom armor from Derek Stiver through his online business Performance Armour, and paid $484.39 over the phone by credit card; he also gave Mr. Stiver explicit specifications for his order's construction. Mr. Stiver's communication with my husband after that point was minimal, except for assurances he'd receive his order soon when he expressed concern at how long it was taking. My husband didn’t receive the armor until four months after paying, and what he received was not what was ordered. He told Mr. Stiver in an email the issues he had with the armor, and received a response which proves the armorer knew he didn’t give my husband what was requested. The only recourse he offered was to have us send it back and repair, but after seeing his shoddy workmanship and taking into consideration the length of time it took to receive the initial order, my husband had no interest in doing this and neither did I - we just wanted our money refunded. We tried to reach him by certified mail and email, and waited the 60 days he required according to his ToS before filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General's office, but received no response.

There are others on an armor forum of which I’m a member who have complained of the same issue with him, showing this is a pattern of his. When confronted with the unacceptability of his work and demands either for repayment or even delivery of the armor, Mr. Stiver simply ignores the purchaser, assuming that they will give up eventually. His business practices are illicit and unprofessional, and his work substandard and inferior (judging by what my husband received and the testimony of others).
