only flaw I can see is there is NO, absolutely NO shipping charges available BEFORE order is processed ...

I got on live chat from website and was told that there was no method to determine shipping weight, packaging, etc before the order was pulled and shippped ...

the C/S guy DID give me the zip code for the shipping plant, and said that if I could calculate "roughly" the shipping weight I could check freight rates ...

They don't tell you how much it's going to cost to ship your order! I have bought from many different web sites in the past few years and this is the first time I have experienced this kind of incompetency (or it could be fraud too). Most sites tell you exactly how much the shipping charge will be. If the exact amount is hard to determine, they will at least give you an estimate. But these guys happily take your credit card number and say "We'll add the shipping charge to your invoice. Bye!".

After placing my order I called up their customer service number to find out what was going on. The guy who answered gave me an estimate merely based on the amount of my order (it came to 25%!). I found this interesting since he didn't even ask me where I lived or how much my order would weigh - factors that I think would have the most effect on the shipping charge. When I asked him if there was anyone else I could talk to about this, he professed total ignorance about anything to do with Newark. Apparently all he does is answer phones.

Don't order from these scamsters if you can help it. For electronic parts, I am trying Digi-key next time."

They have absolutely the largest selection of electronics compoents anywhere... No other compares. Their prices are not always the best, but that isn't their specialty... It's selection of componets and supplies where they shine, and they have traditionally been oriented towards the business buyer, but they will sell to anyone, no order too small. When I first saw their online ordering site, it was a disaster, but they have improved it tremendously the last couple years.

If you place an order online now, the system sends you a detailed email, and another is sent when it ships, which almost invariably happens within 24 hours...

They also will send you, free of charge, the largest electronics catalog you have ever seen, and for electronics hobbiests like myself, it is a truly indispensible tome. When you get the next one, you can use the previous one as a wheel chock to keep a semi-truck from rolling downhill!
