"United Micro has a practice of setting up other companies that sell the same products from the same wharehouse using the same pricing database and essentially the same website source code. They may have more then one such cover company but we know for sure that NewLine PC is absolutely the same company as United Micro. If you are considering purchasing from NewLine PC you should probably check to make sure that United Micro is also getting a decent rating. I don’t know why anyone would need more then one company if they are selling the same stuff at the same price with essentially the same interface (web source code).

Also, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) currently gives NewLine PC/United Micro an “Unsatisfactory” rating. You should always check the BBB website before you buy from any online store.

"You know the more I look into this it seems like there are 30-40 of these hardware companies all in that same small area of Solon Ohio. It looks like there is some kind of franchise or something. I mean, it seems like there is one large wharehouse of products and one big database that everyone shares (probably for a price). For instance there is one guy Vadim Kleyner that has 10-20 different companies with websites that are all selling the same stuff for the same prices. On top of which they are all using the same basic HTML source code. Its like they all get a basic HTML layout when they join up and they are suppose to make it look a bit different by changing some pictures here and there. This is the only thing that I can think of to explain why there are so many of these nearly identical hardware companies located within such a small area. Still it is clear that they all have some relation to each other. Maybe it isn’t a direct relation but there is definitely something strange going on in that State.

What really bothers me is the idea that any of these guys need to have more then one company. I can see having different companies to cater to different groups, like a high end company and a low end company and a large volume company etc, but all of these companies seem to be identical. It just doesn’t make sense why, for instance, United Micro needs to also sell under NewLine PC. We already know that having the ability to set up all of these company names can be easily abused. I mean clearly DigiRex tried to hide under their other company names (DGZone). In any case, how are we suppose to know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are if they are all using the same web source code and are all selling the same stuff and they are all accountable to no one (because they can just change their company name). Like for instance, maybe United Micro is a good honest company, but as far as we know they are just another DigiRex cover name. There just has to be a better way to identify the different groups that might use such a service as this. If I had one (or 20) of these companies I would really like to make sure that people wouldn't be able to confuse me with a truely evil company like DigiRex. I would really push the franchise into setting something up that would make sure that I could be distiguihsed from such bad companies. Heck, I don’t even know if there is a service or franchise or whatever. It is just really fishy. I think I’m going to just avoid Ohio all together for my future computer hardware purchases (at least until they set up some accountability between all of these obviously related companies-whatever that relation may be).

Anyway, if you are going to buy from any online store please make sure that you use a credit card. Also make sure that you are not billed before the product is shipped. This is an old sales trick to run up interest on money while delaying service. When the online store ships you the product double check to make sure that you got what you ordered. For instance, if you ordered a 7200rpm hard drive make sure they didn’t send you a 5400rpm thinking that you wouldn’t open the case. If you are not satisfied with your service contact the online store to get them to resolve it. If they refuse to resolve the situation to your satisfaction then you can easily report them at the following websites:

http://www.bbb.org

You will need to find the site for the DA in the state where the offending company is located but for the Ohio DA it is:

http://www.ag.state.oh.us

Both of these sites have an easy online complaint page that only takes a few seconds to fill out (remember this DA site is only for companies based in Ohio but there are the same types of websites for every state). You can also report them to the FBI and/or to their local police dept. If a company wants to stay in business (without just switching their company name) they will need to resolve these issues or they will lose sales. Even if you never get a satisfactory resolution your small effort to report online abuse will benefit others.
