"I went into their store today, which made me think of writing this review. I was waiting for my paint to mix up and a woman came in with obvious joy and some photos. I could not help to overhear her tell the clerk (Laurie) how happy she was with the Nel-stain she used on her house. She had explained that the painter she hired had done some horrible work and that the finish was uneven and not the color she wanted. She showed Laurie the before photos and after photos of the stain Laurie custom mixed for her and what the house looked like after her and her husband stained it. She was so happy, she had tears in her eyes and then showed me the pics in her excitement. I told her my tale when I was in in November about my predicament.
I travel for work and was looking for a finish to complete my tongue and groove panels in my living room. I stopped at a few stores in Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Green Bay and Wausau all in WI. I explained to the clerks about what I was doing and they all kept leading me to stains. I really did not want stain, but something to made it darker and yet bright. I was at a loss and certainly frustrated when I could not find the finish I wanted. I was then advised by a friend to stop at The Nelson Paint Company. So I did. I brought a piece of the wood and Laurie who was there listened to what I was doing and what I wanted. She walked directly to a product on the shelf without hesitation, stirred it and applied it to my sample and there it was! The finish I was after. A big relief and a big smile on my face.
You know, it is very hard to find people who geninely care about what you are doing, give you cost effective advise and truly bring happiness even in the smallest ways.
I know why I went back today to buy my paint for the bathroom and to see this miracle happen for someone else... It's the small miracles like this that made me shop this store and happily share this review.
