"This turned out to be a bad experience. I do not recommend this vendor and I won't buy from them again.

I ordered an item from this vendor over the phone. My debit card was charged immediately for the amount of the order, and then charged a second time when the order shipped. When I discovered this I contacted my bank, and they in turn contacted my12voltstore.com by phone. The error was explained to the person who answered (Arun Mathews, I believe the owner/operator of the business). Arun seemed indifferent to the problem, stating that it wasn't his error, but that of the company they use for their online checkout system. The bank customer service rep explained that in order to release the hold on the funds in my checking account he needed to fax a request to do so to the bank on company letterhead. Arun indicated his understanding of this, and then just hung up the phone - no apology was offered for the inconvenience to me.

It is now nearly 48 hours since this conversation with Arun and the hold has still not been released from the money in my account. The requested fax has not been sent and I don't think Arun ever intended to send it. He made it pretty clear he didn't want to be bothered with cleaning up the mess that was caused by the double billing. More importantly, it is doubtful that he made any attempt to find out how this happened in the first place and to fix the problem before it affected another customer. Clearly, Customer Service isn't in his vocabulary.

So I'm out $227 and change for five business days, and I'm out $28 in fees that the bank charged me for the foul up in my checking account. Despite the claim on their web site that they will beat any advertised price, this purchase has cost me a good deal more than their listed 'best price'.
