Don't Buy from Musicians Friend

"I ordered a VSL orchestral library from MF. Two days later I received used serial numbers. VSL support confirmed that the numbers were already registered to an MF account. In other words, someone at MF stole my serial numbers before sending them to me. I've spent a week trying to get valid serial numbers with no resolution in sight. I have turned the matter over to PayPal to try to get my money back. I will never do business with this company again."

Terrible Customer Service

"I have had 2 issues with Musicians Friend in the last 45 days. On this particular issue today, I placed an order for a $300 hand truck and get an email the next morning that my item was on back order. I called them and they offered to cancel my order. I suggested finding an alternative product within the same brand and they said, we have a more expensive one in stock but we cant honor the 25% off that I had received on the out of stock item. Both of these items are made by the same manufacturer so I couldn't understand why they could not apply the same discount. The rep talked to a supervisor and they offered me 15% off and double rewards points. I said, no thank you and asked to talk to a supervisor. The rep came back and said that they would do 20% off or the double rewards points. I said, please let me talk to a supervisor. The rep came back and said "The supervisor said that those are the only options or you can just cancel your order." I was disappointed that a supervisor was too coward to tell me over the phone themselves and instead put the rep in the middle to deliver the message. I cancelled the order and will not be doing business. "

MUSICIAN'S FRIEND HAS LOST YET ANOTHER CUSTOMER

"We have attempted to return a percussion product that we purchased for our son for his birthday; he is a graduating high school senior and is preparing to study music performance in college. In other words, he is a serious musician who will be purchasing music products for a life time. There was nothing wrong with the product, rather, it was just not a good fit for him. We have spoken with management at least twice about returning the product, the second time was today, November 19, 2018. I called after I never received a promised call back from a manager the first time I called, which was a week ago, and which was a mere few days after the 45 day return time policy. Today, on the 2nd attempt, I spoke with Manager Noah. You have refused to accept the return, as it was a few days past the 45 day time period. We feel this refusal is unreasonable and reflects poor customer service. Noah simply responded each time with words to the effect of: "I am sorry, the 45 day return policy is company policy and is actually a generous amount of time, as it is a longer time period for returns than other companies." I seriously doubt that and, seeing the other reviews of this organization, am convinced that you all need to re-visit your corporate policies.

We have ordered numerous products from your company over the years for our son. Given our extreme dissatisfaction with your company, we will no longer purchase products from your company. In addition, we will encourage the many musician friends with whom we are connected to NEVER use your services or buy your products. We are disgusted.

Put on Fraud hold

"I've been buying from MF for at least 10 years, but I been buy from zzounds.com because I can buy bigger equipment with 4 payments no credit check. Tonight I tried to log on to musiciansfriend and couldn't remember my login email so i logged on with Facebook and ordered. I waited an hour and my software purchase was not delivered. I called and was told all new purchases are put on fraud hold!? I called my bank and paypal and both released my hard-earned funds to MF. Now I'm sitting here short 54 bucks for the weekend. Had I known this would happen I'd have found another retailer.

Item cancelled. NO REFUND!!!

"I ORDERED A NEW STRATOCASTER FOR 499. THE TOTAL CAME OUT TO 527.49. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING THEY WERE GETTING MY ORDER READY. THEN THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING MY ORDER WAS CANCELLED BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A REFUND. I CALLED THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE WOMAN I SPOKE WITH TRIED TO TELL ME THEY NEVER TOOK THE MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT EVEN THO I HAVE A CONFIRMATION NUMBER AND A BANK STATEMENT SHOWING THE MONEY WAS TAKEN OUT. STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND. STILL WAITING ON A CALL BACK. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOU MONEY!! SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!!! PLEASE BE CAREFUL !!!

order not honoured but it cost me!

"Ordered a guitar and was offered sone extras which was nice. receuved the extras fir which i was charged but no guitar. 90 dats of wauting later guitar order was cancelled. when i complained i was lied to and cut off.
i belive this is a scam and they will no diubtrefuse to take vack the cheap **** overpriced extras (stand and cable and tuner) they sold me for an instrument i never got.

Beware of this company

"Placed an order that would be on my door within 3 days.... and magically now back ordered for 2 months. I fired them and will never even attempt to do business with them again. Looking at all the reviews here, shows the same for most people. Very disappointing."

Run Away and Tell your Friends

"I bought a "The Loar LH-280-C" Archtop Hollowody Electric Guitar (S/N J06131 001 03) from Musicians's Friends on May 31 2018 and returned. The guitar had a slight twist in the neck that was visible as I sighted down the strings. I confirmed that by measuring the distance between the strings and the fret board as various places along the neck. It also had a significant concave bow in the neck which left a large gap between the strings and the fret board near the 12th fret. The guitar itself was poorly made and had wires showing through the "F" hole. It cost me about ninety dollars to ship this piece of junk back to them, about 21% of the cost of the guitar. I don't understand why they would ever ship a guitar in that condition to a customer. I emailed them about the issues I had about this guitar and I am yet to hear a single word. I hope they sent this guitar to the trash heap where it belongs. The only people who got a good deal from this transaction was the UPS store. Don't be another victim. Run away! "

KEEP AWAY/Shady Business Practices in effect.

"I ordered an AKAI MPC Studio Black in August of 2016. I purchased an extended warranty and the MPC had to be sent for repair almost 2 years to the day of purchase. When I went through the necessary channels in order to get my MPC fixed they told me that my warranty had expired. WHAT?? So, I had to engage in an epic phone Battle because when I purchased the MPC and warranty it was on back order. I immediately called to find out and make sure that the warranty would not be in effect until my MPC arrived. I was assured that the warranty would only activate upon arrival of the item. Fortunately, I wrote down the Person and extension I spoke to that gave me that information. Keep in mind, had I not had the foresight I would of been stuck with a broken MPC. After many weeks they said they were unable to fix it and would be issuing a gift card for the amount of my purchase. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! Why, so I can buy the same equipment and obviously another extended plan, so it can break in another two years. I THINK NOT!! I was able to convince them to send me a check for the ammount. They said that because the method of payment had changed from gift card to check they had to get a separate department to authorize it and that would take about three business days. That was around August 15th. Today is September 12th and still have not received the check. I called to find out what the hold up was and apparently there was no check issued because the requisition got cancelled and it needs to be reissued and that will take at least ten days. All of this Hassel for a business practice that should be so simple. It is the worst online purchasing experience I have ever had. A DEFINITE BAD COMPANY TO BUY FROM,UNTRUSTWORTHY! !"

STAY FAR AWAY!

"I ordered a PA System and after several delays from the ABF Freight shipping company, it was delivered shrink wrapped with damaged boxes, broken items and bent speaker stands. I refused delivery and wrote MF to complain but instead of helping me, they wanted to what method I used to complain? They credited me for only half the order, and I am disputing the charges for over a month now. The complete lack of customer service coupled with the inability to properly deliver the equipment and their apathetic attitude makes this the worst company I have ever dealt with, and I advise everyone to buy elsewhere. Nothing but problems."

"I recently made a purchase from this vendor. When i received the item the legs were rusty and I was over unsatisfied with the product. I attempted to return the item and was told i would have to pay to have it shipped and would also have to pay for the orginal shipping. Do not buy here if you think you may need to make a return...."

Some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

"I purchased some bongos for $200 for a friend for Christmas last year and they arrived damaged. Unfortunately my friend did not keep the boxes as they were massive in size and had nowhere to store them and was unaware the bongos were damaged until e attempted to assemble them weeks later and could not get them on their stand because the metal was bent. I expected Musician's friend to at leats give me a partial credit for the damage, just the shipping would have sufficed since the item was damaged in shipping, but no, all they would budge was $20 and it had to be a credit to their store which is very frustrating since I am not a musician as I explained to them and therefore could never use the credit. so basically my experience with Musician's friend was damaged $200 bongos plus $40 in shipping down the drain. I will never recommend them nor consider purchasing gifts from this company or their parent co guitar center ever again."
