"The low cost of the merchandise is more than offset by the awful packaging of the items for shipping and and the even worse customer service received in the event of a problem.
Four floppy drives were shipped with virtually NO packing materials to keep them from slamming around in the box. They got here and the bezels were all smashed.
Instead of immediately returning them I took a little time to try swapping out bezels with other floppy drives on hand. The drives still didn't work.
When I had to contact monstronix TWICE before getting the word back that no RMA would be issued because I was two days over return limit. I think their approach to returns is just to employ a variety of techniques to wear you down such that only a small percentage of returns are ever actually accepted.
You have been warned.
Update: Virtually every shipper, and that includes UPS, requires that items be proplerly packaged for shipment before any shipping insurance becomes effective. It is unreasonable and unfair to expect package delivery firms to pay for negligence on the shippers part in package preparation.
As a result, they decline to pay claims where there is no external evidence of damage to the shipping container. If it's not crumpled, crushed, holed or otherwise damaged, they don't pay, and there was no exterior damage on my shipment.
That's why I didn't indicate notice of damage when signing for the package, and why I didn't immediately open the package, and also why the seller's desire for immediate notification of damage was irrelevant in this case.
But it IS a handy "Gotcha!" for avoiding exchanges ..."

I placed a order, and there was a 2 price problem (I got charged the higher price, from a Froogle search?- 2 web sites?). :o(
After "several" emails, Cancel (abrupt take the higher price or cancel- I even pasted the lower price in my email!), reorder..., and more phone calls with Paul (svc mgr.)- he "finally" called "again (4 calls+ total!)" & made it up to me. HASSLE!
Their prices are low (on some items), but I'll shop around more in the future (I found MUCH better, on my item!)."
"Monstronix is the vendor we've all been dreaming about: Low prices, low shipping costs, great service, and good communications.
Although Monstronix appears to sell mainly electronic items, they also list a lot of tools. They happened to have the tool I was after---at a lower price than ALL major tool vendors on the web. I asked a question by email---my email was replied to within 5 minutes. Their shipping cost was less than half of what was quoted with other vendors for the same item. I ordered the item late yesterday afternoon. It was shipped out last night and UPS tracking shows the package to already be at my local terminal. Amazing service!

"I was surprised to find such a good price on the Uniden Scanner I was looking for at Monstronix.com. I'd never heard of them. I found some glowing reviews on bizrate and decided to order from them. "I will admit I was a little leery @ first because a lot of the items on the site were a LOT less than @ other retailers, but I ended up placing my order anyways, trusting what others had said here on resellerratings.com and sure enough my doorbell rang a few days later and it was UPS delivering my order. I do wish it had been packed a little better (most if not all of the air-filled bags they used as cushioning were on top of the ietms with none on the bottom) but the Monster Cable items I ordered weren't really that fragile after all. I saved about $100.00 using Monstronix and would shop from them again if they had what I wanted (it's just to bad they didn't have everything I needed for my car audio system).
