"MakeSpace was unprofessional and incompetent at every step of the process. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
1) They arrived 2.5 hours after the window they provided me.
2) When they arrived they did not have any tools to disassemble furniture, even though I had clarified with 2 different people on the phone that disassembly was required and they assured me.
3) I called customer service, while the man were still there, to discuss and the woman who answered then told me that no disassembly was ever done. I had to direct her to her own website to prove otherwise.
4) Once she agreed that disassembly was possible, I was told that the next available appointment was 6 days away and there was no way that they could make it work any sooner. At that point, I asked for a refund and to use a different company entirely. She assured me that they would make it work and that someone would call me in the morning around 10 to confirm.
5) At 10:30 the next morning I called again, having not received a call, and was told by the customer service rep that they could not make any accommodations and that the next available date was the same as the night before, essentially wasting more of my time, and leaving me in the exact same position as I had been at 6:30 pm the night before.
I called another moving company (Clutter), and was able to make an appointment for the next day at roughly the same price.
I have never experienced such poor customer service. The only shining point was the friendliness of the moving staff who showed up. They were embarrassed themselves for the poor service I received.
Other notes:
- every time I called, I waited an average of 5 minutes to speak to someone. I had to repeat myself on what I wanted, what I needed to be moved, what I needed to be disassembled with every person
- I was told I could not speak to a supervisor because she would "say the same thing I am saying""
"They lost a part to my $15,000 TV unit which can not be replaced! On top of that they chipped every corner on that TV unit. They broke half my items. They were always late when they were scheduled to deliver my items. They broke my chandelier which was hanging in my home, while delivering my items. They are difficult to work with, irresponsible, and impossible to get a hold off. Each item that was given to them was returned to me chipped, broken, and shattered. DO NOT GIVE YOUR ITEMS THIS STORAGE COMPANY!! TERRIBLE IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"Really bad service.
Difficult to work with, demanding paperwork, and they destroyed quite a bit of my stuff. Glassware, which I understand. But they also shattered a light fixture when they delivered it (banging into the wall) and dragged all the bins on our brand new wood floors, scratching the hell out of those.
Anytime you reach out to them, they respond "Please note that, as per our Terms of Service, you agreed to 'waive all rights and claims against MakeSpace should your fragile stuff break or other be damaged.'"
If you care about your things, stay away."
"there are many pros to hiring Make space. they provide, truck, movers & pack items in storage for you! the Rep at Makespace misled me to believe that 1). I could view my items in storage, that hasn't happened yet! 2). Rep mislead me to believe that the turnaround for having my items redelivered to my permanent home could be done within a day or so after pick up....but HE LIED! Make space is trying to give me a redeliver appointment for 1 1/2 later than I need it! I AM LIVID AT THE MISCOMMUNICATION AND BLATANT LIE! I HAVE NO BEDS AND THE ESSENTIALS TO MOVE INTO MY NEW HOME DUE TO MAKESPACE! "

"My experience with making space was fantastic. Everything from working with chelli from the office, scheduling the pick up and follow up calls. Professional,accurate and polite. Step 2 was the pickup. My men,Simyon,tommy, and Francesco were fantastic. On time,polite, efficient, and helpful . It was a wonderful experience. I thank all of them very much. "

the good:
- so far they've lived up to everything they promised
- customer service is very courteous and actually follows up on questions if they say they will (although it can be later than they originally estimate)
- moving staff is friendly, professional, and efficient
the not so good:
- failed to properly schedule one of my pickup appointments, i understand that nothing is perfect and they were very nice about it and offered a small discount off my overall rate. (however, i was lucky because i had extra time to re-schedule my appointment for a couple weeks later, but if i was more pressed for time, this mistake would have really screwed me over, unfortunately it doesn't seem that they have any built-in buffers in their schedules for mixups like this)
- customer service can be hard to reach at times (during high-demand times like summer moving season)"

"Moved to a 4th Floor Apartment. The elevator was too small for the Queensize bed. Myself and the two gentlemen from Makespace carried the Mattress AND Box Spring up the narrow staircase. "
