"Here is this situation in bullet format:

Ordered lens on 3 day shipping
After multiple emails and phone calls, finally received the lens 14 days later
Gave Lorimer Electronics a 1 star rating here
Guy at Lorimer called me to ask if I could up the rating--after a long drawn-out argument, I gave him a 3 star... he called back and asked if I could make it a 4 star
I asked to get the 3 day shipping refunded, which he refused... outright... but said he'd send me a free filter
Annoyed and ready to end the stupid battle, I gave in
17 days later... no filter

So... back to a 1 star rating.

"This "company" has attempted to defraud me with a refurbished Canon camera in place of a new camera. I was suspicious when I received the camera. The packaging was not specific to the model, the warranty card was missing and there were various finger prints and food stains on the unit, including a spot on the lens.

Initially, the company sent a lens cleaning kit and said they would send a warranty card out. I was willing to deal with this, but the warranty card was never sent. I asked for an update on the card: no reply. I asked again, and was told this product was "canon overseas" and that it did not have a warranty card and that I could just use my invoice to get service if I needed it.

Having exchanged many emails with Canon Customer support, here is what I learned:
1) Lorimer Electronics is not an authorized Canon dealer.
2) The packaging and lack of warranty card is absolutely indicative of a refurbished unit. I gave them a link to a photo of the box. They confirmed, a new camera is never sent in that type of box. They further explained, new cameras have a unique warranty card, regardless of where sold in the world. The warranty card, MUST have the serial number of the actual camera on it to be valid.

This company is engaging in fraud. A refurbished camera is not, categorically not, the same thing as a New camera. Having been confronted that Canon Customer support is certain this unit is refurbished, they have never refuted the assertion.

Their "terms" of sale, that did not appear when placing the order, claim that "Not all pricing includes the manufacturer’s warranty". This offends basic consumer protection laws in every state and would be held void in a court of law. When purchasing from a business, you are entitled to expect that NEW is NEW (that it includes everything the manufacture has stated it is supposed to contain). In this case, the failure to provide a warranty is absolutely conclusive evidence that this is not a NEW camera; the manual clearly states a warranty card is part of the product.

They have asked me to return the camera and claim to be willing to compensate me for the expense. With so much deception, I am only willing to have them arrange a pick-up. If they fail to do so, I will file many complaints: credit card, USPS mail fraud, Federal Trade Commission, BBB, etc. Will update in a few days.

Sept.26: The company, ONLY after being threatened with complaints being filed and the camera being disposed of if they did not make arrangements to pick up, finally paid for FedEx to pick up. That said:
1) The company never apologized for wasting my time: from sending a unit with food stains on it to trying to play a delay game of agreeing to send a warranty card out and then changing their story with another lie!
2) The company NEVER tried to argue that the camera was truly new. The they never tried to argue that my assertion the camera was refurbished was incorrect.
3) Their "customer service" emails consisted of a few words, that were often grammatically incorrect and did not fully address what was at issue.
4) Notice, their website does not have a mailing address! Their website order tracking is a link that simply brings up the home page. Their confirmation email does not even list what was purchased and tells one to call their "toll free" number "***-***-****": that doesn't look tool free to me. When they made the arrangements for the FedEx pick-up, they put my phone number down in the section that was supposed to be their own! Besides questionable business practices, they just seem incompetent and inarticulate.
5) Keep in mind, when I initially received this mess, I was willing to work with them. I wanted the camera. I did not want to waste time sending it back. I made it clear, within 30 minutes of receiving the camera, the deal was off if they could not provide a warranty card. Instead of just coming clean and saying they could not, they dragged this matter out for over a week.
====================
If you want cheaper, refurbished products with food stains, without any warranty and deceptive customer service that will absolutely waste your time and play delay games, they are tops!

"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS WEBSITE! I ordered a toaster oven that showed "in stock" on their website -- then got an email **10 days** later saying my order was canceled because the item was "not available". It took them 10 days to notice? I was supposed to have the item in 7-10 days."

"I am regretting ever having exposed my credit card data to this website!

I ordered a Canon Powershot SX100, for $159.86 on September 11, 2009, via lorimerelectronics.com. I paid $168 for this camera, about 6 months ago, elswhere; but that camera was lost.

Today, Sept. 16, I realized I'd not received a shipping confirmation; nor had I been charged. So, I called the customer service number, listed on the order confirmation e-mail, but it was no longer in service! Luckily I saved the web based confirmation page, which had another number. When I spoke to a sales rep. I was told they thought it was OK to go ahead an list this product, here on Google Shopping, without actually having received and verified their inventory; and that I was waiting on their shipment to arrive!

I do believe it is unlawful to bind a person to a sale and collect credit card data, for inventory you do not posses! As it would be to wait to make an order for inventory, until you've recieved an order for said stock!

I also turned down a very attractive sale in order to be obligated to this purchase!

And I needed a camera ASAP; and was expecting to have one ASAP!

I tried explaining this all to the sales rep.; but he was incompassionate, and went on being very ignorant.

Finally he explained he was expecting his inventory any day; but when I said he could have until 9/18, he suggested I order elsewhere!

Now that I've exposed mycredit card data the damage is done, they've got my personal information; all be it by what seems unethical! And they've already consumed almost a week of my time and effort. So I'm still going to give them a little more time; but I certainly wouldn't ask anyone to trade places!

For now they will be receiving the minimum amount of stars. And I am going to email a link, of this review, to the sales manager. I'll be updating this soon one way or another; if things pan out I will reflect that in my edit; but, for now, I would suggest not getting involved with this business from the get go!

After writing this review I did take the advice of the sales rep., and started looking for another vendor. After a couple hours I found an SX100, used, for $115. I still have the manual and cables from mty first SX100, and SquareTrade said they'd rollover my warranty and give me money back; so i went ahead on that order and canceled this one.

On 9/17 I got a call from lorimerelectronics, asking me if I'd accept an upgrade to a better camera. I nice suggestion; but I was no longer in the position to accept! I wish they had made the offer the first time we spoke over the phone, and not waited until I posted this, shopped, and made an alternate purchase!

All in all it was somewhat of a run around, but the apology came through; I'll change their feedback to 2.5 of 5 stars.

"Basically I ordered a Nikon L100 from the is company on Saturday. I thought that I would receive confirmation by Monday, but today is already Wednesday, so I wrote the company asking for my order status. I then checked my other email and found that they'd emailed me 3 hours prior...mind you, 7:55 a.m. on Wednesday, 5 days after originally ordering the product! The email was simple, it stated, you need to call this number and confirm your order!!! WTF??? They couldn't have sent this email out on the next business day? So I called, only to be asked that my order was ready to be shipped, they just needed to know what kind of warranty I wanted to purchase. I told them I didn't want to purchase any order, the manufacturers warranty was good enough, especially with Nikon, they have the best warranty. He then stated that the camera was coming from out of the country and manufacturer warranties did not come with the camera and asked again if I'd like to purchase one. I told him no, I just wanted to know when I could expect the camera, as it was a birthday gift for my daughter and I had hoped to receive it (per the standard shipping) prior to her birthday. He then finally came out and said, "that particular camara is on back order and I don't know when I'll get it in". I was floored! The nerve of some foreign people...and yes, he was foreign...lying to me in the first place!

I suggest you beware of this seller. It sounds like a one man show, very unorganized...trying to get me to buy something, who knows if it was actually new or not, though he advertised it was! Do your homework...I wish I had! Now I have to wait for the bank to take their friggen 2 week time to credit me back my money, since this guy, who is now claiming he never charged my card...another lie. It doesn't appear my daughter will be getting her camara on time for her 16th birthday...thanks alot scammer company!!!

I received an email from this company that stated that my order had been cancelled, and that my "credit card had not been charged". People...I am looking at my checking account (that's linked to my credit card) and it clearly shows I was charged...so where does he get off thinking I'm stupid enough NOT to check my account? I'm filing fraud charges...I suggest you all really consider ordering from this company!!!

"I received the wrong product for this order. When I called customer service, they were extremely rude and did not show any concern. When they checked to see about the product I ordered, then realized it was on back-order. The website does not match their actual inventory."

"August 13, 2009: I ordered a Canon Rebel XSi, after seeing they had the lowest price, I called to ask why the price was so low. Asked if they were refurbished and he said that they are new, all in original packaging with warranty. They are priced low to move inventory. With that, I felt confident enough in ordering from their store. Now I'm reading everyone's review and I'm hoping that my purchase is legit and hoping I will be happy that I went with them.

I have received a UPS tracking number from the company and hopefully I will get, as he told me, a NEW Canon Rebel XSi with all accessories.

Will keep everyone posted. :)

August 23, 2009: I received my camera on Saturday. What they promised me and listed on the website was, NEW...I called the store to verify what they were sending me was NEW. What I received was NOT what they promised! I received a refurbished camera. Giving them a chance. I wrote to their Customer Service. Received an e-mail asking me to call tomorrow after 11am and they will sort the problem out. I think I am realizing, what seems too good to be true, is too good to be true! Will keep you all updated as to how this all turns out! For the time being Lorimer Electornics (Global Express Imports) gets a BIG thumbs down!

August 24, 2009: I called Lorimer Electronics (as they requested I do) and spoke with customer service today. I was told that there was a mix-up in the shipping department. He apologized and told me that he will be sending me a NEW Canon Rebel XSi with all the original packaging and Canon warranty card, as he had promised when I originally made my purchase. He seemed apologetic and willing to work with me to makes things correct. Fingers crossed! I'll continue to keep you all updated.

September 9, 2009: I apologize for not updating my post sooner. Things have been a little crazy and I apologize if the dates are not exact.

I believe I received my camera on September 1st (I was travelling and did not have a chance to check out the camera until last Friday). I opened my package and it was the original box (not refurbished box like the last time). I checked and it seems that the camera is new and everything that is supposed to come with kit was included. Due to all the bad reviews I read on this company, I did call Canon to double check that the camera was new. I gave Canon the serial numbers etched on camera body and lens. They matched the warranty card...and Canon confirmed that it is a new camera and lens and has never been registered by a previous owner.

FINAL VERDICT: It wasn't a perfect transaction and at times I was doubtful BUT they did offer the best price and in the end did follow through with the merchandise they promised.

"I ordered a Canon A1000is camera from Lorimer on Wed. July 8, 09. I then got a call on the 10th from them saying that the camera is not in stock right now. He said my options were to either order a different camera or wait a week for the camera to come in. He then tried to upsale a thinner model that my wife would like better (not against upselling, just stating everything). I chose to wait a week for the A1000 model to come in.

After a week had past I called back to get the same guy. He had a tone to his voice as if I were bothering him. He then looked up my order by zip code and said it would be shipped soon.

After another week I called AGAIN. Same result as before with the order will ship soon.

All together I had to call 4 times and email 3 times.

After all this the order did not arrive until August 3rd. Almost 4 weeks after ordering. If you want a speedy transaction and good customer service look elsewhere.

On a positive note... I did get the camera for $114 shipping included. This is $20 cheaper than I could find anywhere else.

"Placed order for a GPS on July 15 and received my order on July 24. Following along with my email tracking number, I placed a phone call to inquire as to why the merchandise had not shipped and he told me that it would go out that day which was July 21. I had the merchandise in three days. It was the same GPS but a step just above the model I wanted because it also included the blue tooth feature. They had the best price available for new merchandise and I searched several websites. Well pleased. Would definitely shop with them again."

"Purchased a Canon lens as the price was the best I could find online (about 10% below everyone else). then received a call a WEEK later saying they didn't have them in stock and it was unclear when they would have them. I understand if there was a discrepancy between the web and the stock room - but a week to figure this out?? Now I'm going to be waiting even longer to get my lens (from another company). On the positive side at least they didn't charge me and then have to credit later."

"This the absolute worst transaction I have ever experienced...if you could call it that. This is a sorry excuse for a business and a blatant scam. I ordered a Canon Digital camera SD870 and received a call a few days after placing the order from "Frank" offering to upgrade the camera to an SD880 for no additional charge, citing that they didn't have the older model in stock. I got the package and it was the wrong camera (a cheaper model). I told them to will call it and send the correct camera back to me in one-day air (I had made it clear several times that I was leaving on a trip and would cancel my order if I didn't receive it on time). After being on hold for an inexcusable amount of time and being assured that it would arrive on time, I didn't receive it, and then he pleaded with me to have it delivered to my hotel at my vacation destination. I never received the correct camera (after numerous, obviously made up excuses). This is a scam! After probably the fifth phone call, I told them to cancel the entire order and to will call the wrong camera model I still had. After a week, the item has not been picked up and my account has not been refunded. I have contacted the FBI and will not stop until this scam artist is behind bars. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!

I'm filing a class action suit against them. Would anyone else on this board like to be apart of it?

"Here is a quick follow up. They credited me with a 10% discount for my troubles and the item is working great. I would consider doing business with again if they can get their customer service issues resolved.

Horrible customer service. I cannot stress how bad it is. I called the company multiple times for my order status and was told on multiple occasions that it "would ship tomorrow." I was also placed on hold for over 30 minutes on two occasions and hung up on once. I called and cancelled my order and was told that my money would be refunded to my credit card. After a few days and no credit I called to check the status of my order again. I was told my order "shipped today." I called them on this because my order was supposed to be canx and my card credited. They gave me a tracking number which checked out and I got my item a month after I ordered it. I would not ever use this company again or recommend them to anyone. I was worried that I would never get my item. However, my item seems to be as described (new is questionable but appears to be) after I finally received it. I suggest you do some research about this company before you think about ordering from them. I don't think you'll feel comfortable with what you find.

"TERRIBLE!!! Do not order from this company! I called about my order 3x in two weeks and was told each time it would be shipping in 2 days. The final time I called, they called me back 2 hours later saying there was a flaw in the lens and they couldn't send it and tried to sell me something else. I'm still waiting on a refund.
Update: I did receive a refund via google checkout the same day I actually canceled the order. I did appreciate their quickness in that matter.

"AVOID THIS COMPANY UNDER ALL COSTS

My wife ordered a Garmin 305 forerunner for my birthday. They immediately debited her account and never sent the product. We have called several times (almost 10) and have been given a different excuse each time. The owner even changes his name and voice on each call.

I still do not have a product nor do I have my refund. The current excuse is CC billing company is down. Yesterday he promised my refund.

I have already contacted the FBI, FTC, and BBB on this company. DO a whois lookup, none of his given names match anything he sends in contacts with customers

Within 2 hours of posting this review, "Frank" called my wife demanding that the negative review be taken down and they would refund the money. So now they have withheld the goods we tried to purchase, now they are trying to extort a decent review for our money. Looking below my review, seems like this has happened before.

This company is part of a much larger scam. Upon further investigation this website is linked to the following sites:

www.taaffephoto.com
hotbuyselectronics.com
supersoundsstudioinc.com
UnitedCommercialGroup.com
J&O Doors LLC

If you come across any of these names, notify every agency possible

Anthony
David
Jacob
Frank
Joe
Mally
Esther
Phillip

THey all apparently share the same address as well. "Frank" called my bluff and tried to basically extort my refund by giving him a positive review. Looking below that does not work either. Once my work settles down I am pursuing this through NYPD as well since I have their registered address.

"Where to begin? I ordered a Magellan Maestro 3250 GPS unit that was marked as "NEW" on their website. What I got was a USED Magellan Maestro 4250. I asked for a return authorization number and eventually got it and sent my order back to them. They confirmed over two weeks ago that they received the return but no refund as of yet. I have emailed several times, got a few increasingly rude responses, then none at all. I've called several times as well and get a different story every time I call. I intend to pursue a refund at this point through my bank and have filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the FTC. Classic 'bait and switch' con artists at Lorimer. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DEALING WITH THESE CROOKS!!! You'll be sorry you did.

After posting the preceding review, I received a call from "Frank" at Lorimer telling me that he would send me a refund check IF and only IF I posted a positive rating at that site and removed my negative rating. So I tried it--anything to get my money back. Still no refund!! Hence I re-posted this review. Do not buy anything from this morally bankrupt company of felon-quality thieves! Anyone else who changed their review to get the refund or merchandise Lorimer promised should re-post their original reviews too. This business should be stripped of any operating licenses it has! I have posted reviews as well at yellowpages dot com. I intend to contact UPS to inform them that Lorimer is using their service in the commission of crimes. I will contact FedEx, DHL and the USPS. It is a felony to use the USPS in the commission of a crime. I will also contact the New York Attorney General and have already contacted the New York State Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform, which apparently issues and maintains business licenses in the state of New York.
