"PLEASE READ: A horrible experience. Simply put, I was shopping around for the lowest price when I came across Kalyx.com Unfortunately, I also received the cheapest customer service as well. You know the saying, "If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is." I didn't bother reading the reviews of the merchant and their customer service representative, "Dan".
I ordered Dutch Leach Elbows which were priced at 50 cents for a bag of 25. However on there website they state that "Jardine Warehouse has a minimum order of $15.00". So I ordered plastic caps in order to fill the $15 minimum. I wasn't planning on spending that much but being that the Dutch Leach Elbows were advertised 50 cents for a bag of 25 -who could resist? I placed my order and about a week later I got the plastic caps and 1 (one) Dutch Leach Elbow. I wrote an e-mail to the "Kalyx Team" along with a link with their advertisement. I was responded promptly by "Dan", who wrote that there was a mistake on the website and that the Elbows were 50 cents each. I pleaded my case. Had I known that they were 50 cents each, I would've simply ordered them (BTW: I needed 7 of them, which would total $3.50). "Dan" responded that he would be happy to place another order, however I would still need to purchase a minimum of $15 of stuff I don't need! I couldn't believe it!
So I'm writing this not because of the miniscule $3.50 but more so because of ethics, integrity, and character or individuals and the companies they represent. A company like this should be reported to the Better Business Bureau but I haven't the time to complain about $3.50; I'll just let these other customers with similar experiences validate our frustrations.
So if you're reading this... It's better to pay more and go through a more reputable company which markets their products through high rate of customer satisfaction than to go through this mess.

"Well, this is another customer who bought an out of stock item. Much like the previous reviewer, their order page showed the item out of stock soon after I was charged and showed that I had been refunded. Except that my bank account showed no refund.
The difference in my case is that I was incredibly busy and kept putting off yelling at Kalyx people. Lo and behold, about a month later I did get the refund.
I would give them two stars out of five since they do not appear to be scammers. They seem to be poorly organized and very slow, so I would still not buy from them but if you did then perhaps there is hope for you yet.

"I ordered an item from this company by phone on 23/2/2004. Within an hour I changed my mind & phoned the company back & cancelled the order only to be told by the same man that the order had been shipped already, but to return it when it arrives. Two weeks later it finally arrived at customs (Canada)so I returned it right at customs without even picking it up. When I got my Visa bill it was charged the day I ordered it & no refund! I phoned & spoke with the same man & he told me he had sent the refund through Paypal. Paypal could find no trace of it. I waited another month & I phoned him back & he got ruder & ruder & hung up on me. I phoned back at least 6 more times that day & every time he hung up on me without even talking. I phoned my bank & they said they could not do anything. I don't think anyone else works there as only he answers the phone, sends the product & handles complaints etc. He is very rude, has no wish to trouble himself with customer complaints & doesn't care whether you get your refund - there are plenty of other people silly enough to order out of the whole population of North America. It was only $85 Cdn for me & at the time wasn't worth the hassle of arguing with someone who is so rude. I haven't done a review before as I didn't know about this site, but I was burning old Visa receipts & came across it so I decided to look on the internet for reviews & found all these unhappy people with worse experiences than I had with this man. I don't have an invoice as I returned the item at customs without even opening it - I only have the date it was charged to my Visa (above) "

"TERRIBLE COMPANY! I was charged in full the day of my order,
but received an email the next day stating the item was not in stock and I had "been refunded." Six weeks passed before I realized that they had never refunded my money. Emails and phone calls were summarily ignored, so I finally had to file a dispute with my credit card company seven weeks after the order. Do yourself a favor and place your orders elsewhere. They also operate as shamanshop.net so avoid that site too.

"I placed an order for indigo leaf extract with this company on 2/10, and on 2/13 I emailed to find out the ship date and was told the item was not in stock. Dan offered to ship straight indigo leaf powder instead, and I agreed. A week or so later I discovered that Kalyx had billed my credit card on 2/12 (the day before Dan told me that the item was not in stock).

Two more emails to find out the status went unanswered, so on 2/24 I registered a dispute with my credit card issuer.

I have four problems with Kalyx:

1. There was no indication on the website that the item was out of stock.
2. I wasn't informed after my purchase that the item was out of stock.
3. Kalyx billed my credit card before shipping.
4. My email inquiries went unanswered.

So, I will not be doing business with them again.

"My wife placed an order for a mushroom grow pack as a Christmas gift. It arrived on 12-14 and when we opened it to check we found that there were no instructions. Three emails and 3 phone calls later still (it's now Jan 5, 09) there are still no instructions! She spoke to Dan once (the only time the phone was answered) and he promised to take care of it - the other two calls were answered by the answering machine during normal business hours.

They have my money and I have a bag of rotting mushroom growing medium and no directions on how to grow the mushrooms. Very poor customer service! You would think in these tough economic times Kalyx would give a rats behind about retaining their customers. Never again will I do business with these people or ever recommend them to others. This grief is not worth any savings gain over purchasing from a reputable merchant that charges a higher price. Cheapa buy, cheapa get.

"Unfortunately for me Kalyx has the best prices. If I could find anyone comparable for the specific products I need (and there aren't that many choices) I would use that competitor in a second.

Dan, the only person that seems to answer phone calls or emails, is far from a model customer service rep. He is extremely arrogant, rude, and incredibly slow.

I've purchased from them several times with most transactions being painless. However, you'll have to constantly remind them to send C of A's if you need those, and heaven forbid if you have a problem with an item. Good luck because you'll need it with this company.

They say they don't list out of stock items, but they do. They'll tell you that items have been back ordered about the same time the rest of your shipment is supposed to arrive. They'll also process your card for the entire transaction amount which will include the back ordered item. I have always thought merchants couldn't charge you until an item ships.

I've contacted Dan four times now to check on the status of my back ordered item because the ship date has come and gone, again. Dan is supposedly "contacting" the warehouse to get an update and will email me that info. Silly me assumed he meant he'd do that the same day. It's been 7 days now and I just got hung up on by Dan who told me again he'd call the warehouse and then email me.

I hope that this helps others. My advice is if you can find what you need somewhere else and it's comparable in price, go with the competition.

"This is the worst experience I have ever had purchasing from an online retailer. The gentleman who runs this company has not respect or regard for his customers.
This started out with a problem using his shopping cart. I called to explain the problem and he assured me he could do it from his end. I foolishly gave him my credit card number, after beig literally yelled at about reading the numbers too fast for him. Then I went to my online banking account, only to find there were two charges of similar amounts.
Not wanting to assume the worst, I called and explained this and I was told by him that he would send me an email to explain this issue.
When I recieved the email it said that one of the transactions was an error transaction, but this was an email typed by him, so I was curious why he didn't just tell me that over the phone. I called my bank and they explained that they couldn't tell yet whether it was two charges or not, but that the merchant could clear the error charge from my account immediately by faxing them a letter explaining it was an error.
I wrote to this merchant requesting just that. This is when things got worse. He told me not to listen to the fools at my bank, he was right. I then talked to a supervisor at the bank that said that all incomplete transactions keep the money on hold for 11 days and the only way to release my funds back to me was with this cancelation. I again wrote to this genetlman explaining that. Of course, wanted it cleared because A) I wanted my funds availalble to me and B) I wanted to be sure it wasn't a fraudelent charge. However, I was greeted back with an insulting email suggesting I was the one trying to rip him off. WHAT? How could he turn it around when he was the one with 2 charges on my account and I had no product after 5 days. I then asked him if he had even shipped my product yet because if he hadn't I wanted a refund. No reply except for an email the next day telling my my product has been shipped. Still hasn't arrived and the charge has not been cleared.

I STRONGLY urge you to avoid this merchant!
