"No matter how much you pay, the buyer protection will always be 10% of the total. Instead of a fixed amount, this "buyer protection" acts as a tax to customers for using their website.
Of course, you don't have to buy it. But if you don't, you are all on your own.
This is what they are trying to make you think.
This is just another marketing strategy used to further influence buyers into purchasing their "buyer protection".

In either case, you will lose if you buy on this website.
1. Buy key and no protection.
- You are up against fraudulent sellers and an unsupported customer service.

2. Buy key with protection.
- You just gave away free money (if you bought from a honest seller).

My advice:
Even if this warning doesn't stop you, ALWAYS buy protection. If this place happens to be the cheapest INCLUDING the buyer protection, by all means go ahead. Why? Even if kinguin is filled with scammers, they will always get a cut from the sale. This site is dangerous, yet its cheap keys are lucrative. Use this site with caution, check the reviews on the sellers, and always try to buy from sites that offers buyer protection without the customer having to pay for it such as cdkeys.com."

"After a preorder (11 months earlire) of South Park - Fractured but Whole I finally receive the key on launch date, I tried to activate it few hours later but it was already claimed.
Having bought the kinguin buyer protection I opened a ticket with their customer support, they asked me to call ubisoft support to request the exact date and time of the activation for a refund.
For privacy reasons they can give me only the date and tell me it was early in the day, they even tell me it was activated in a different region of mine.
Contacting back the kinguin customer support they tell me I must obtain the exact time of the activation or they can't refund me. In the meanwhile I sent them tons of screenshots of my uplay account to show I don't have the game activated.
I go back to Ubisoft support and they tell me that I need to give them the receipt or the photo that proves that I own the original game, thing I could not give them because I bought them from kinguin.
Back to kinguin, sending them the chat screenshots, they tell me that I must try to contact Ubisoft again to obtain the exact time with timezone and region of activation, I insist telling them that Ubisoft won't give me this information so kinguin tells me they are trying to contact Ubisoft support.
After sometime things start getting shady, I told them the time I received the mail with the key and the time I tried to activate it. They misteriously now know that the key was activated something like 10 minutes after I received it, so they tell me that the key can't be refunded it because it was activated after the dispatch. They tell me even the exact time but when I ask where did they get this exact information they say they can't tell me where it came from, I even asked for a screenshot that proves but they can't share this information neither.
The last thing they said to me was: the key was activated after the dispatch so we can't refund you, if you think this is not correct you have to ask ubisoft the exact time and zone of activation.
That means if the key was activated after the dispatch I have no way to refound it.
They even closed the chat in front of me...
Don't buy from these shady sites guys, the little discount is not worth the risk!"
