Cancelled my very first order.

"This was my first time shopping at Jcpenny.com and they cancelled my order with no explanation. The representative that I asked had no explanation for me and suggested that I call their customer support number. They were absolutely of no help either. It's no wonder they've gone bankrupt...they can't get the basics of online shopping or customer service right."

REALLY?

"Ordered 4 key chain plastic box cutters as stocking stuffers, but only received one. Called customer service and was put on hold for about 15 minutes, then the computer voice gave me the option for c.s. to call me back in 10 minutes and I took it. I never received that call for 1hr. 20min, so I called back, was on hold again for 15 minutes and finally got someone on the line. The entire amount for the box cutters was less than $8.00 (originally $20.00). The lady told me it was only suppose to be 1 cutter anyway, She kept arguing and I asked for a supervisor. Again being put on hold for about 10 min.
Same arguing, the supervisor said, she will send me 4 box cutters, but I have to mail the one I received back. REALLY? For all my wasted time, they can’t even let me keep it? Now I have to print the return label out and bring it to UPS or to a J.C.P. store. Oh, I will, but a.s.a. I have my other 4 box cutters, I will quit my account after over 25 years of being a loyal customer. No wonder, J.C.P. is going down hill. Why I wasted so much time? Principle

They cancelled half of my order, then they would not let me cancel the other useless half.

"I ordered a shirt and pants from jcpenney.com for pickup at a local store. Both items were listed as in stock for pickup at the store. 5 hour later I get a message that the order is ready for pickup but the shirt portion of the order was cancelled. I called the toll free number at jcpenney.com to cancel the pants too because this was a matched set, but the customer service person told me that she could not cancel the order. First, she suggested that I travel to the store, pick up the pants and then immediately return them. When I said that that was a ridiculous waste of time, she gave me the direct number to the local store. When I called the store's main line several times, no human being ever answered--only recorded prompts. My advice to anyone reading this message is to never used jcpenney.com. They cannot be trusted to have items in stock even when their site says they're in stock, then they will cancel the items that they don't have in stock and force you to pay for the rest."

Completely wrong item sent

"I ordered 2 items and one of them was supposed to be black leggings. So why did I end up with brown men's pants instead? They actually had the correct item LABEL attached to the outside of the bagged package, seriously. Are these people blind and stupid?

The return process was equally ridiculous where I had to send back the wrong item FIRST, wait for my refund, THEN I was told to re-order the original item. Then they made it sound like they were "Doing me a favor" by waiving the shipping. Seriously, how stupid can you get? Not worth the cost savings shopping here unless you are truly desperate and want to deal with amazing levels of incompetence.

"Ordered online (shirt) five days ago. UPS reports they have NOT received the item for shipping yet (despite JCP already assigning a tracking number to it.) Called customer service. Rep read off a list of ready-made excuses for why I'm wrong about it not having shipped yet and even some excuses to cover the chance that it may not have shipped yet. Funny, Amazon and Old Navy never had to make excuses to me. They always ship the same day- and I by ship I don't mean just assigning a tracking number to your order. It's probably my fault thoug. I was stupid enough to pay nearly $9 shipping on a $20 shirt in the first place. Never again JCP, no wonder you're tanking.
UPDATE: Days later and not only was it never shipped , JCPENNY refunded me the full amount without contacting me with a reason nor even telling me that they are issuing a refund. I only found out because I noticed my PayPal account had been credited. Really JCP you couldn't even send a email or apology or an explanation or something? POOR communication, POOR service. BAD company.

"I purchased couches from JCPenny.com for close to $2,000. The chair had a heavy duty staple poking out which injured my toddler. The sofa had absolutely no back support and could feel and hear the springs poking at the back. JC Penny would not return the item until it was inspected by their technician. Their technician indicated the couch was not to manufacturers standards and would be returned. Technician also fixed the staple which injured my toddler. I followed up with JC Penny who indicated the technician's report indicated the couch was to manufacturer's standards, which contradicted what he told me. JC Penny is charging me a total of $250 for delivery and pickup of the furniture. JC Penny does not stand by their product and the quality is poor. I will never purchase anything from JCPenny.com again. "

"I just ordered some sale items on their website and chose the ship to store option to avoid the shipping charge. When I chose PayPal it wouldn't accept the JCP address at a green Acres Mall in Long Island, NY. I spoke to Susan of customer service and she said that since they've setup with PayPal only a month ago there were still bugs in the system.

She offered to have me pay by credit card, ship to my house and she waived the $8.00 delivery fee. All the while she was very patient and nice. When the items arrived I noticed that one shirt was too big. I returned it to their store in Green Acres Mall and afterwards they promptly refunded my credit card.

I've ordered items from their catalogue many years ago and never had a problem.
