"I think they are going out of business. Their sales/support numbers have recently been deleted from their site; only email addresses are still listed. But they don't respond to email!

My May 21 ordcer is still listed as "pending" on their "order status" page. (It's now almost four weeks later.) It arrived promptly, but the item was defective. I got an RMA and sent it back, but haven't gotten a replacement or credit.

I've bought a number of items from them over the years and was always very satiusfied with service and prices -- until now.

"This company is beyond unreliable. When you order, your only coverage is a limited 30 day warranty. Just my luck, problems began to occur after my warranty expired.
I contacted IkonPC and repeatedly got the runaround, to the point of no longer trying to bother via phone. They are completely unresponsive to any emails. They have countless unresolved issues listed on the Better Business Bureau's website. In fact, IkonPC hasn't even registered to the BBB.
The first thing I noticed is that they didn't ship the right components. Off the top of my head, they sent the wrong keyboard, mouse, speakers and video card.
The second thing I noticed (after my warranty expired), was that the computer would run for about 20 minutes, then shut off, as if someone just pulled the plug out of the computer. I had to take it in for repair and the motherboard had numerous burn marks on it. It's also a pretty bad sign when the repair man can't even explain why such a thing occured. Two months later, the same thing occured and I noticed that basically all the components in the computer, including the CPU was running EXTREMELY hot. Then, the PC completely died. It won't even get to the BIOS screen, which is the very first thing you encounter when booting up a PC. IkonPC is a complete joke. I wish someone would start a class action suit against them. I'd most certainly participate!

"I didn't get exactly what I ordered, but the value and quality was equal to what I ordered.
The credit card was charged right away, while the order was shipped one week later.
It took me one week to analyse the technical problem I'm having, and I contacted support.
It turns out that the computer is getting too hot, causing random crashes. The case has space of only one small 50mm case fan.
I contacted support, they agreed about the problem, I suggested to replace the case for a larger one (about same price), the same case I got with my first order.
Support did not call me back, voicemail is unanswered, e-mail is unanswered and now the website seems down.
I have one week left to dispute the credit card charge, I guess I shouldn't waste time...

"I paid for quicker service for my customer's order, the status of the order is still shown as PENDING on June 25th 2005, the company has not responded to an email about the order. My customer has called in but did not reach Customer Service because it is a Saturday... I am not pleased at all with this lack of response or that no follow up was done- no indication that anything is wrong on either end. My customer's credit card was billed/accepted. She is quite upset because this pc was ordered to replace a business machine that was in danger of crashing...we put a rush order and all and paid extra for that service. "

"My experience with Ikon PC just keeps getting worse and worse. I only placed a third order with them because they offered a refund last time. Ok, so here is what happened:

The first order I placed with Ikon PC was for an AMD 64 CPU and motherboard. That transaction went somewhat ok, except that they had already attached the cpu to the heatsink and applied so much thermal paste that it made the whole thing a gooey mess. Oh well, it still went ok. Not much to complain about there.

Therefore I ordered a 2nd item, a Memorex DVD-RW drive for my friend. Ikon PC is known to have higher shipping costs on their website than the advertised cost on pricewatch. However, from the first order, I learned that if you ask them about it, they'll just tell you to put "pricewatch" or "USPS shipping" on the Company name when ordering, so that you get the lower shipping cost. The 1st item I ordered from them went fine using this method. The 2nd time though, they charged me the full $12 for shipping it UPS, despite my note that said "pricewatch - USPS shipping". I called them up and they admitted it was their fault, and said the price of shipping was actually supposed to only be $5. They refunded $7 back into my credit card, and I was satisfied after that.

Now, we reach the 3rd and final order that I will ever place with Ikon. I ordered another Memorex DVD-RW drive for myself. Before I ordered, I once again called them to confirm the $5 USPS shipping cost, and followed the usual procedure of noting "pricewatch - USPS shipping". Again, they charged me more than what should have been charged - $10 for UPS shipping instead of $5 for USPS shipping. I called again, and a person in their sales department said he would send customer service an email for it to be taken care of. A few days go by, and no credit was given. I called again, and a guy over at customer service rudely says that $10 is their cost for USPS shipping now, and that it had changed from $5 to $10 since the last order (even though the person I talked to RIGHT before placing the order said it would be $5 for USPS shipping). The guy also used the excuse that it was just shipped UPS to save time since it would cost the same amount. This person (1 of the 2 customer service people working for this company) was very rude and uncaring. He did not care that I had placed orders with their company in the past, and that I was not going to place any further orders with them if this issue did not get resolved. The other person in the customer service department (a lady) was the one who gave me the refund last time on my 2nd order, but he just said she was on vacation for a few weeks and he was in charge of everything in customer service in the meantime.

Ikon PC obviously does not care for their customers, even ones who order more than once from them. They are rude and make excuses after they mess up. I will not order from them again.

"I would hesitate ordering from Ikon pc but not rule them out. For all you bargain hunters out there Ikons not bad but will cut corners. Ordered dvd burner, arrived stamped "rp", for refurbished product, when advertised in pricewatch as new. Also the shipping and handling fees were different than advertised at pricewatch. Nevertheless shipping was fast, customer service was better than average, and the product worked just fine. "

"The whole story:
- Ordered P4 3.4GHz OEM and an ASUS motherboard late on 4/15
- Received e-mail about 3.4GHz OEMs having been sold out on 4/19 (read: 4 days minus weekend = 2 days), they offered to replace with P4 3.2GHz & refund difference of $30. Ok, took the offer.
- Called 4/21 to check up on order status, order had been shipped 4/20. However I found out they had made an error in my order and had shipped a P4 3.4GHz retail. They requested I either refuse the package or pay the difference of $11.

I agreed to pay the extra $11 as the CPU was already on the way and at this point I wanted to be able to put my new computer together ASAP.

Also, I'll grant that paying a mere $11 more for a retail vs. the already quite reasonably priced OEM I originally ordered wasn't that bad a deal. However, because of the two mistakes listed above taking place during the order process I can't give a fully satisfactory rating.

No problems with motherboard at any point, and all equipment once it arrived on 4/22 was in working order.

"To whom it may concern,

After todays events I wanted you to be aware of the actions I have taken against your company. Both the product and the service I have recieved today have been sub-par to say the least.

When I placed my order with Ikonpc I was not only trying to save money on this occassion but was also looking for a future vendor for myself and my company. I work in the IT department for a company that will soon be growing and will need many parts for PCs and other electronics equipment. If this had been a pleasant experience I would have continued to shop with you and hopefully establish a long term veding relationship with your establishment.

However, you have been completely incomepetent in this 1 single, simple order.

Error 1. Sending me something I did not order. As my invoice shows I ordered a mother board and retail processor. What I recived was an OEM processor with an after market fan. Retail AMD processors come with and AMD fan and certificate of authenticity. These were not even included in the box.

I also did not ask for this processor to be pre-installed on this motherboard. For all you knew this was not even intended for this motherboard. Perhaps I was swapping out processors for another system. Obviously this task becomes more difficult with a preinstalled cpu.

Overlooking this, I did decide to try out the system, being on a time crunch I needed a working system by this coming Monday and proceded to connect the system.

Upon powering up the system a started recieving a series of beeps implying there is a problem. After a few hours of trouble shooting I came to the conclusion that it was either the mother board or the CPU. I spoke with both AMD and KSI tech support (can provied reference numbers upon request). They came to the same conclusion. After a day of calling back and forth I was basically told that I would have to wait even longer for my probelm to be resolved as 'policy' states that replacement parts cannot be overnighted (even after offering to pay the extra shipping).

Error 2.5

Not knowing which componenet may be damaged or faulty I removed the processor that was shipped in error on this order to take a look. I did this in a static free and safe manner so as to not damage the processor or board. When I removed the processor and proceded to take a look I found that 2 pins on the CPU were not only bent, but completely missing. I can only assume that this happend during the (unsolicited) installation of the non-retail CPU and aftermarket cooling fan.

At this point my professional opinion is an error during installation, one that could have been avoided if the proper equipment had been sent. I have asked for replacement parts and been given the run around continously. When I attemtped to explain the situation to your support guy, he wanted to place the blame of the missing cpu pins on me.

I won't dispute that fact that when I called I was frustrated. I cannot understand half of what your team is saying and the only answer i get is spewing 'policy' and not solving my problem which was created by your company.

As of now, I am only out about $200. But if I had made the decision to use your company for my future orders I am afraid of how much it would cost me in the long run.

The actions taken against your company have been:

Disputed this with paypal and asked that the case be shown on your profile.
Contacted AMD to inform them you misrepresent thier products on your website.
Contacted and filed a complaint with the Beter Business Beauru.
Contacted Pricewatch to have you removed from there prefered vedor lists.

Future plans include the recommendation to severl IT boards that I am currently subscribed to that people refrain from using your services.

Resller Ratings, a well known ratings site will recieve my feedback as well.

I am sorry that we could not come to a quick resolution, but at this time I am asking that the processor I originally ordered be shipped to me over night, or an immediate refund be deposited into my account. I will pay for the shipping costs to get the defective board and CPU back to you if I must.

"I purchased a built pc from ikon a couple of weeks ago. I had trouble loading windows on it, and brought it to a friend to do. After he somehow got windows to work, I was unable to load any software on it. It keeps locking up. So far i have left numerous e-mails, and phone messages at their technical support lines, and have never heard from them. After finally hearing from them, after i brought the computer to a repair shop, i found out i had massive overheating problems. These problems caused my ram to overheat frying the chip. I had to buy new ram and pay to get my computer fixed. I will never do business with them again."

"WARNING:

Ikon PC is a company that lacks quality control and competency. Unfortunately I learned that the hard way. Since I enjoy PC gaming, I bought a high performance system from them. I ordered from them because they sold top of the line hardware for budget prices.
I wanted to build the PC, so I did not select their assembly and testing option. When I received the computer, it was assembled! To find out why, I called them. They told me they assembled it because it was an expensive order (around $2000.00). Obviously they like doing favors for people that make big orders.
After I set it up, I discovered the floppy drive did not work. I opened the case and noticed the floppy cable was not connected. I connected it and checked for other errors in assembly. Everything else seemed OK.
When I was playing a game, I noticed a funny odor coming from the case. At first I thought it was new PC odor. When the odor started making me nauseous I began to panic. I felt different parts of the case to see if something was overheating. When I touched the back of the power supply, it borderline burned my finger. The very next day the power supply burned out.
After the power supply died, I called technical support. They told me they would send me a new power supply. Their warranty policy states I have to ship the defective part to them. I paid (Ikon PC should have) UPS to return the power supply.
Ikon PC told me I would get the replacement in a week. One week passed and I did not receive it. I called them. They said it would take another week. After the second week passed I still did not receive it. I called again. They told me they had to order the appropriate power supply from California and it would take a few more days. I got mad at them over the phone. A few minutes later they called and informed me they would send it overnight.
The next day I received the replacement. I was disappointed when I opened the box. They sent me the exact same kind of power supply that burned out. Afterwards I ordered a good quality brand from New Egg. That was not the end of my troubles.
When I received the good quality power supply, I installed it. The computer worked fine afterwards. However, the case was cheap and the rear bent under the weight of the new power supply. When I opened the case a plastic rivet broke. I bought a new case afterwards.
Ikon PC supplied me with two bad quality items and lied to me. A reputable company would have supplied me with a good quality power supply and case. They told me a replacement power supply would arrive in one week. They failed to inform me it was really backordered. To avert a possible fiasco, please do not order from them.
